Eduardo Garcia went 2-for-5 with a double, walk and 2 RBIs while playing first base as Cardenales routed Bravos 21-9 in Venezuela to improve their Round Robin record to 4-0. They've 12 games remaining, before the top two teams compete for the championship. In the Dominican Republic, Steward Berroa went 1-for-4 with a walk and a stolen base while leading off and playing left field, but Aguilas fell 8-3 to Leones. Their Round Robin record is now 6-6, sitting 1 game behind Toros in 3rd place with 6 games remaining.

Hmmm. Maybe he thinks the Brewers are close to a title and wants to participate in it. So maybe we’re keeping Freddy after all.

In the DR, Steward Berroa’s Aguilas earned a key 3-1 victory over Toros to cut the deficit to 1 game in the standings. Berroa led off and played both corner outfield spots, going 0-for-3 with a walk and a run scored. In Venezuela, Eduardo Garcia was a 9th inning pinch hitter (K’d) and played left field as Cardenales raised its Round Robin record to 3-0 with a 13-6 win over Bravos.

On Wednesday, Steward Berroa entered in the 7th inning with Aguilas trailing 10-1. He walked in his sole plate appearance, played center field and right field as his team fell 17-1, which looks more like a Canadian football score.

Andruw Monasterio has concluded his Winter Ball season in Venezuela:

In Dominican Republic Round Robin play on Tuesday, OF Steward Berroa entered as a pinch runner for Aguilas in the 8th inning, stole third base and scored on an error as they grabbed a 6-3 lead. He stayed in as the right fielder as his team held on for a 6-5 win. The team is 4-4 in Round Robin play with 7 games remaining, trailing Toros and Estrellas by 2 games each.

Greatly appreciate ALL the updates you’re able to provide. Value-added in every respect.

Thank God. May all involved make a full recovery in body and spirit. Thank you so much for sharing. I had feared much worse and could only pray.

Aguilas’ victory gives them a few days off before the 16-game, 5-team Round Robin round. Caribes’ loss dropped them to 5th place in the regular season. They need to win 1 of 2 play-in games against 6th place Tigres to grab that last Round Robin spot.

Eduardo Garcia returned to Cardenales’ lineup after a 23-day absence, making solid contributions Friday and Saturday (3-for-8, HR, 2 doubles, 2 walks) as his team won the regular season title. He played DH and first base.

Maybe we’ve already DFA’d another outfielder, but not made it public yet.

I'd already penciled in an aggressive promotion of Adamczewski to AA (after just 65 PAs and a .196 AVG in High-A), though figured I'd be wrong. But the odds just jumped significantly.

26-year old RF Steward Berroa keeps impressing in Winter League ball in the Dominican Republic: 2-for-3 with a double, walk and an RBI in yesterday’s 8-6 victory for first place Aguilas Cibaenas.
  20. Ro Mueller
That’d make the most sense, I think, given how well Pena, Dinges and Adamczewski played under him in Low-A last year. Or maybe young(!) Kevin Martir could get a shot.

What a meteoric rise Victor Estevez has had over the past few years. Well-deserved!:

Last National League pennant for a Milwaukee baseball team: we blew a 3-1 World Series lead, including committing 4 errors in a Game 6 extra inning loss at home. Ugh.

After playing for 7 organizations (including 340 MLB PAs for 4 clubs), Cooper Hummel heads to Japan:

Three scoreless innings of relief for RHP Stiven Cruz in Venezuela on Saturday (1 single, 0 BB, 1 HBP, 2 Ks), though Tiburones fell 5-2. That gives him a 2.70 ERA in 7 games (10 IP), but drops Tiburones to 7th in the closely-packed league standings (just out of playoff position) with about 13 regular season games left to play.

I guess this is also your subtle way of saying that top prospects are off limits: McGonigle, Walcott, Basallo, Max Clark. And you mentioned Lombard wouldn’t be available. Too bad.
