    Wisconsin closed out the win 8-6 to improve to 25-26 on the season. The 9-1-2 batters Alastre-Baez-Eduardo combine on a 7-for-13 day. Yerlin had a typical 8th (2 BB, run-scoring wild pitch) and Rund allowed the potential game-tying run to come to the plate, but induced a ground out to end it. Really nice team win while resting Areinamo and not having any top pitchers (Letson, Hardin, Root, Peek) throw. After a very slow start to the campaign on the basepaths, Yhoswar now has 24 thefts, Eduardo 18. Okay, nobody else has more than 6, but it’s still progress.

    Coleman Crow is up to 73 pitches (season high) thru 5 innings with 9 Ks, including the last 4 batters faced. No walks.

    Logan Henderson only pitched 3 innings (0 R, 2 H, 1 BB, 4 Ks - 57 pitches), but I assume it was planned. None of the 5 relievers who followed in Nashville’s 11-1 victory had pitched since Thursday. 15 hits for the victorious Sounds, including Wes Clarke’s 3-for-4, 4 RBI day.

    14 Ks in 13 innings in 3 games since coming down to Low-A is a nice breakthrough. And I give him a mulligan on that first Low-A game, since he was pitching 5 days after throwing 85 pitches.     The Timber Rattlers were being out-hit 10-2 at one point, but now lead 6-4 in the 7th inning after a 4-run burst in the last half frame. Luiyin Alastre had a big double (scoring 2, one helped by an error) to tie it. Credit to LHP Anthony Flores for surviving 4 innings (4 R, 9 H, 1 BB, 3 Ks - 77 pitches) and LHP Jesus Broca for some sweet bridge work (now up to 3 IP, 0 R, 2 H, 1 BB, 3 Ks - 41 pitches).

RHP Coleman Crow (3.46 ERA, 1.12 WHIP, 9.7 K/9 in 26 IP) makes his 8th start - will he top 70 pitches this time out? 1B/3B Luke Adams is out of the lineup after being a late scratch yesterday.

    Wisconsin can polish off a 5-1 series home victory today over Peoria behind LHP Anthony Flores, who’s throwing for the 2nd time this week (4 IP, 1 R, 1 K in 57 pitches on Tuesday). LF Yhoswar Garcia is figuring out High-A ball: .805 OPS in last 81 PAs with 10 BB, 11 Ks and 17 SBs.

    The AAA Sounds have dropped 3 straight in Indianapolis, but have RHP Logan Henderson (2.12 ERA with 69 Ks in 51 MLB/AAA IP) on the mound to turn the tide. DH Eddie Rosario is 10-for-23 in his last 6 games.

    The Low-A Mudcats aim to finish off a 4-1 home series win over Salem behind RHP Chandler Welch (5 IP, 1 R, 5 Ks in 92 pitches last week). RF Jose Anderson needs to get back on track (1 for last 24 with 3 BB and 10 Ks).

    Tough stretch for Cooper Pratt: 2 for his last 30 (both singles), 2 BB, 2 HBP, 8 Ks, 1 RBI, 0 SB, 1 CS. Biloxi’s lead over Montgomery is down to 1 game. Biloxi and Rocker City both had 5 hits in Saturday’s 2-1 contest, though that’s kind of normal for the pitcher-friendly Southern League. Pratt hit 3 ground balls and K’d in an 0-for-4 day. Similar for Brock Wilken: 2 for last 31, including an 0-for-4 day with 3 Ks in this one.

    Do we think this is Zach Peek’s final season under his Minor League contract? He was drafted in June 2019, but didn’t debut until 2021. We picked him up in the Minor League phase of the Rule 5 draft. He seems to be feeling good again, after being limited by injuries from July 2022 onward. Last 9 games: 13 IP, 2 R (1 ER), 6 H, 3 BB, 1 HBP, 19 Ks).

    RHP KC Hunt (5 IP, 1 R, 8 Ks last week) can help AA Biloxi come back from a 3-1 series deficit at Rocket City tonight. The top offense in the Southern League (4.76 runs/game vs. league average 3.87; .720 OPS vs league average .658) needs to wake up.

    Wisconsin can clinch a home series win over Peoria behind RHP Jaron DeBerry tonight (3 IP, 3 R, 3 Ks last week in his first High-A appearance). CF Eduardo Garcia has a 1.035 OPS over his last 15 games (64 PAs), with 11 RBIs and 8 SBs.

    Unrelated: Wake Forest leads Miami Ohio 14-11 in an NCAA tourney elimination game, with Miami having the bases loaded, nobody out in the bottom of the 9th. Gotta imagine Wilken is tracking. And they held on 14-13, getting the final 2 outs with 2 men on base.

    22-year old RHP Chandler Welch seeks to build off a solid start last week (5 IP, 1 R, 5 Ks in 92 pitches), as Low-A Carolina can clinch a home series victory over Salem tonight. He’s only hitting .214, but RF Tyler Rodriguez has easily the highest OBP (.436) in the lineup.

    RHP Jacob Misiorowski makes his 2nd start of the week in Indianapolis (4 IP, 1 ER, 8 Ks in 87 pitches on Tuesday), as AAA Nashville seeks to claw back from a 3-1 series deficit. 1B Bobby Dalbec has a 1.019 OPS and 11 RBIs over his last 10 games (44 PAs).

    The AA Shuckers have dropped 3 straight games at Rocket City, so now turn to LHP Tate Kuehner (1 ER over last 18 1/3 IP) to turn the series around. DH Mike Boeve has a 13-game on-base streak, though we’re still waiting for him to play in the field.

    The Low-A Mudcats have our first game of the day, with 20-year old LHP Wande Torres (7.36 ERA, 1.64 WHIP, 8.2 K/9 in 22 IP) getting a chance to extend their 2-1 home series lead over Salem. DH Luis Pena (22) and SS Jesus Made (21) are 5th and 7th in the Carolina League in stolen bases.
