Christian Arroyo’s walk-off homer and Tayden Hall’s 2-run 9th inning single clinched wins for Nashville and Wisconsin. Biloxi battled back to end their skid and Carolina held on for yet another victory. Transactions: INF Mike Boeve transferred to AA Biloxi’s 60-day injured list from 7-day injured list RHP Enoli Paredes sent on rehab assignment to AAA Nashville Game Action: Nashville Pre-Game Media Notes Final: Nashville 2, Jacksonville 1 Box Score and Game Log Via the Sounds’ website, game details, and we encourage readers to review affiliate write-ups as part of their Link Report routine: Arroyo's Walk-Off Homer Gives Brewskis Thrilling Win Over Jacksonville After spending most of the 2024 season yoyo-ing between injury time and rehab appearances, this walk-off no-doubter had to feel sweet for 2B Christian Arroyo (2-for-4, HR, 2 RBIs) – his first ding dong since August 13, 2023: Starting 22-year old RHP Carlos F. Rodriguez (6 IP, 1 R, 2 H, 3 BB, 1 HBP, 5 Ks) overcame a tough 2nd frame (all 3 walks and the HBP) to continue his excellent run of form with six terrific innings, while Arroyo provided the clutch hitting the Sounds required. Rodriguez, Kevin Herget, rehabbing Enoli Paredes and Ryan Middendorf limited the Jumbo Shrimp to just 2 hits (both singles), but things still got tricky with back-to-back 1-out walks against Middendorf in a 1-1 game in the top of the 9th inning. A weak ground out to Arroyo and 7-pitch pop out followed before Arroyo’s walk-off heroics to lead off the bottom of the 9th. Oh, and Mr. Arroyo plated the Sounds only other run as well, knotting the game by plating SS Freddy Zamora (who’d doubled) in the 6th inning: Sounds’ Extras: This was Paredes’ third rehab outing, in which he topped out at 95.5mph, allowing only a walk and striking out one over 22 pitches (13 strikes). Zamora keeps getting the bulk of the team’s innings at shortstop and showing up in the box score on my writing days: 2-for-3 with a double and run scored, even if his AAA OPS is .584. How’s this for some nifty, collaborative defense between 3B Patrick Dorrian and Zamora: Friday’s outlook: RHP Mitch White aims to bounce back from a rough start last week, as Nashville seeks a 3-1 series lead. Biloxi Pre-Game Media Notes Final: Biloxi 7, Birmingham 5 Box Score and Game Log Via the Shuckers’ website, game details: 30th Comeback Win of the Year for Shuckers Snaps Five-Game Skid Per the game write-up, the game started extremely well as the Shuckers, who’d lost 8 of 9 games entering this contest. 2B Dylan O’Rae (3 singles, 2 walks, 1 RBI, 3 SB) and C Darrien Miller (2 singles, 2 RBIs) were particularly clutch, knocking in 3 runs with singles in their 4-run 2nd inning. Starting LHP Tate Kuehner had an up-and-down night, walking the first two batters he faced and needing 92 pitches to get through 4 1/3 innings (4 R, 4 H, 5 BB, 1 WP, 5 Ks), with the final two hitters battling for 7-pitch and 8-pitch walks. In relief of Kuehner, RHP Kaleb Bowman (2 2/3 IP, 1 R, 2 H, 1 BB, 4 Ks) then gave up a 3-run homer on the first strike he threw (2-0 count), then settled in to get 8 outs (4 Ks) from the next 9 hitters (including a caught stealing by Miller). O’Rae walked and Miller singled with 1 out in the 7th inning to spur the 3-run rally from a 5-4 deficit, with SS Eric Brown Jr. having this game-trying RBI single drop in and 2 more runs come across via bases loaded walks: Shuckers’ Extras: Handed a 7-5 lead late, RHP Blake Holub (2 IP, 0 R, 2 H, 0 BB, 1 K) was content to pepper the zone with strikes, needing only 19 pitches (15 strikes) to record 6 outs, even though a lofted single and 2-out double had made for a nervous finish in front of 3,332 road fans. With 3B Brock Wilken missing his third straight game and Ernesto Martinez Jr. and Adam Hall resting for a game, where would the offense come from? The answer: nearly everyone, as 6 different Shuckers had an RBI and a 7th (1B Zavier Warren) had a double and single. Friday’s outlook: RHP Shane Smith looks to put last week’s short start behind him and lead Biloxi to a 2-2 series tie. Wisconsin Pre-Game Media Notes Final: Wisconsin 5, Great Lakes 4 Box Score and Game Log Via the Timber Rattlers’ website, game details: Ninth-Inning Rally Sends Rattlers to Victory Make sure to read through the thorough game report linked above, then I’ll sprinkle in a few more details about Wisconsin’s hard-fought comeback victory, capped by 1B Tayden Hall’s 1-out, 2-run single to give the Timber Rattlers a 5-4 lead in the top of the 9th inning. If we’re awarding game balls, they definitely go to Hall and DH Jesus Chirinos (combined 4-for-7 with 3 walks and 4 RBIs), along with the bullpen of LHP Mark Manfredi and RHP Aaron Rund (combined 4 1/3 IP, 0 R, 4 H, 1 BB, 4 Ks). Starting RHP Josh Timmerman (4 2/3 IP, 4 R, 4 H, 3 BB, 2 HBP, 3 Ks) had faced the minimum through 2 innings in his first High-A appearance before allowing a double and 2 HBPs to start third frame (cutting lead to 3-2). He’d reached 69 pitches through 4 innings before unfortunately tiring in the 5th (line out, full count walk, first pitch 2-run homer for a 4-3 deficit). Timber Rattlers’ Extras: After dropping 4 straight games, including a 12-inning affair on Wednesday, Manager Victor Estevez understandably went for the win, internationally walking a dangerous Loon (representing the potential game-winning run) to set up the force out and allow Rund face and retire the final batter, whom he K’d swinging on 5 pitches. Blake Burke missed his 5th straight game and Luke Adams was absent for a 3rd consecutive time. I’ve not yet seen clarification on their status. Friday’s outlook: RHP Stiven Cruz gets the start, with Wisconsin looking to tie the series at two games apiece. Final: Carolina 6, Augusta 5 Box Score and Game Log Via the Mudcats’ website, game details: Mudcats Hold Off Late Rally To Beat Augusta How about if we dominate for 8.5 innings, then make 1,158 home fans sweat on a Thursday night before pulling it out? Okay, that’s not how they drew it up, but every Mudcat had at least one hit en route to leading 5-0 by the 3rd inning and 6-2 heading into the 9th. C David Garcia had two early run-scoring doubles, while starting 19-year old RHP Josh Knoth (5 IP, 2 R, 4 H, 0 BB, 4 Ks) threw 4 shutout innings before allowing 2 runs on a single, triple and RBI groundout in the 5th. We’ll gladly take Knoth’s efficiency of 73 pitches over 5 innings. Breathe a sigh of relief and let it out, LHP Jesus Broca, who stranded runners on the corners via a swinging K to end the contest (after allowing 3 runs across): Mudcats’ Extras: Big kudos to RHP Harrison Durow for one of his best relief outings of 2024: 3 IP, 0 R, 2 H - both singles, 0 BB, 2 Ks). The team went just 4-for-21 with runners in scoring position and stranded 12 baserunners, but it ultimately just made the ending more entertaining. SS Daniel Guilarte provided 2 singles and 2B Juan Baez and 3 hits, including a double and 2 RBIs. Friday’s outlook: RHP Bryan Rivera is due to make his 3rd Low-A start (4th appearance), as Carolina can clinch a series win tonight. We hope that you enjoy the Minor League Link Report. On Friday, we’ve our now usual slate of four MILB night games, starting with Carolina at 5:30pm CST. The Milwaukee Brewers head out to Oakland with an 8:40pm CST start time. It’s all up to the final 24 games. Would 14-10 probably get them in? A healthy Boeve would help immensely. Gotta pray that starting rotation stays healthy, including Peterson and Seminaris who are being asked to cover more innings.

LHP Nick Bennett released by AAA Nashville C Satchell Norman released by Low-A Carolina -
DL Hall delivered six strong innings in a Nashville victory. Carolina took advantage of mistakes for a come-from-behind win. Wisconsin’s comeback fell short and Biloxi was blown out. For the week, Wisconsin and Carolina managed 3-3 series draws, while Nashville (2-4) and Biloxi (1-5) fell short. Transactions: INF Josh Adamczewski placed on Low-A Carolina’s 7-day injured list RHP Sam Gardner placed on AA Biloxi’s 7-day injured list Game Action: Nashville Pre-Game Media Notes Final: Nashville 4, Durham 2 Box Score and Game Log Via the Sounds’ website, game details, and we encourage readers to review affiliate write-ups as part of their Link Report routine: Sixth-Inning Rally Seals Nashville's Win Over Durham in Series Finale LHP DL Hall made his case for a near-term restoration to the MLB starting rotation via his 6-inning, 93-pitch effort (1 R, 2 H, 2 BB, 2 HBP, 4 Ks), keeping the Sounds within a run until the offense came through. Nashville eventually erupted for their 4-run sixth inning behind extra-base hits from center fielder Chris Roller (solo homer), Rodriguez (double), right fielder Brewer Hicklen (double), 1B Wes Clarke (homered for the 3rd straight game) and 2B Christian Arroyo (double). In relief, RHP Kevin Herget produced a rare blip (2 H, 2 HBP – 1 run) before LHP Tyler Jay (1 2/3 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 0 BB, 0 Ks) retired 5 of 6 batters faced to earn the save. Sounds’ Extras: After going 9-up, 9-down the first time through the order, left fielder Carlos D. Rodriguez (3-for-5, double) collected the first of his three hits to lead off the 4th inning, although that opportunity wasn’t converted (and hitting coach Al LeBoeuf was ejected in the process). Hall’s velocity peaked at 95.1mph early, but no pitch reached the 94mph mark or greater over his last three innings of work (11 batters). Next week’s outlook: Nashville (62-57) returns home to face Marlins’ affiliate Jacksonville (58-60) this week, with RHP Chad Patrick (2.85 ERA, 1.10 WHIP, 8.7 K/9 in 107 1/3 IP) scheduled to start on Tuesday. Biloxi Pre-Game Media Notes Final: Mississippi 11, Biloxi 1 Box Score and Game Log Via the Shuckers’ website, game details: Shuckers Drop Series Finale to M-Braves We’re accustomed to RHP Shane Smith (2 1/3 IP, 3 R, 3 H, 1 BB, 3 Ks) dominating the opposition, but he only lasted 48 pitches in this Sunday affair. Facing runners at 2nd and 3rd with nobody out in the 2nd inning, Smith buckled down to register consecutive swinging strikeouts and was ahead 0-and-2 to the next batter before being done in by a gut-punch 3-run homer. Sometimes there’s a very fine line between an awesome achievement and a devastating setback. Per the game link above, 1B Ernesto Martinez Jr. pulled one back in the 4th inning, which also happened to be Biloxi’s first hit of the game: Biloxi ultimately went through eight pitchers (including position player Nick Kahle) on the day, with RHP Will Childers (1 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 0 BB, 2 Ks) putting together the best line: Shuckers’ Extras: The Shuckers did not get a runner in scoring position until the 7th inning, by which point they already trailed 7-1. The staff did manage to strike out 12 Braves, but the game was particularly rough for RHPs Sam Carlson (1 IP, 3 R, 3 Ks) and Justin Yeager (1/3 IP, 4 R, 1 K). At least RHP Bo Bowman (1 2/3 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 1 BB, 1 K) stranded a runner for Smith and Kahle stranded the bases loaded for Yeager. 2B Ethan Murray collected 2 singles and C Darrien Miller also reached base twice (single, walk). Next week’s outlook: After a tough week at home, Biloxi (55-56) heads out to face the White Sox’s affiliate Birmingham (60-54) for six games this week. Wisconsin Pre-Game Media Notes Final: Peoria 3, Wisconsin 2 Box Score and Game Log Via the Timber Rattlers’ website, game details: Moquette’s Late Homer Beats Wisconsin Thank you again to the Wisconsin media team for the video highlights: Please also listen to the informative Mehring/Lobner post-game podcast, featuring SS Cooper Pratt and Manager Victor Estevez. As you’ve undoubtedly seen and heard from the links above, this was a scoreless affair with terrific defense (e.g. 3 double plays and 2 outfield assists by the Timber Ratters) until birthday boy (now 20) SS Cooper Pratt’s solo homer on a first pitch fastball with two outs in the bottom of the 6th inning. The collection of RHP Ryan Birchard, LHP Mark Manfredi, rehabbing Trevor Megill, rehabbing Enoli Paredes and two initial innings from RHP Tyler Wehrle produced 7 innings of scoreless baseball with no extra base hits, but Peoria’s hurlers matched them apart from Pratt’s blast. After Peoria got through against Wehrle in the 8th and 9th innings for three runs and a 3-1 lead (punctuated by a 2-run homer after their manager was ejected), 3B Luke Adams reached on an infield single and 2B Eduardo Garcia doubled, thus representing the potential game-tying run with nobody out. Per the video, you’ve seen how Garcia was unfortunately thrown out at home as part of a double steal attempt for the second out, with a ground out then ending the game 3-2. Timber Rattlers’ Extras: Based on the roster, Wehrle and Aaron Rund appeared to be the only fresh arms remaining in the bullpen, which may explain why it was so necessary to have Wehrle continue into the 8th and 9th innings, ultimately throwing 54 pitches (40 strikes). He had averaged 36.8 pitches/outing over his past 10 games, so four innings of bullpen work was not out of the ordinary. INF Jadher Areinamo was initially listed in the lineup, but Garcia got the start instead, so it was a relief when Areinamo entered to pinch hit (RBI single) in that 9th inning. Each of Pratt, Adams, Garcia and 1B Tayden Hall reached base twice via hit, walk or HBP. The team went 1-for-4 with runners in scoring position, actually better than the Chiefs’ 0-for-4 effort. Next week’s outlook: Wisconsin (70-43) heads over to Michigan to battle Dodgers’ affiliate Great Lakes (59-53), with RHP Will Rudy (5.01 ERA, 1.21 WHIP, 8.4 K/9 in 93 1/3 IP) expected to start the opening game of the series on Tuesday. Final: Carolina 4, Delmarva 2 Box Score and Game Log Via the Mudcats’ website, game details: Mudcats Split Series With Shorebirds Starting 19-year old RHP Bishop Letson (3 IP, 1 R, 1 H, 2 BB, 1 K – 40 pitches total) was a welcome sight on the mound, returning to game action for the first time in 15 days, throwing 3 hitless innings before exiting after an opening single in the 4th inning. The Mudcats had no extra base hits and only produced 5 singles, but Delmarva’s 3-error defense was in a generous mood, misplaying 1B Miguel Briceno’s 8th inning ground ball to allow 2 runs across for only lead which Carolina would need: 20-year old LHP Jesus Broca entered in the bottom of the 7th inning with 2-on, 1-out, immediately helped by C Blayberg Diaz catching a baserunner stealing, then retiring the final 7 Shorebirds in order. DH Yhoswar Garcia continues to make a difference with his bat (2-for-3, walk, 2 runs) and legs (55th stolen base). His bunt single and stolen base to open the 7th inning helped turn the tide, with left fielder Reidy Mercado also reaching via a bunt hit in that frame. Garcia then drew a 2-out walk in the 8th inning, scoring all the way from first base on the Delmarva error. Mudcats’ Extras: RHP Brailin Rodriguez faced a lot of traffic over 3 1/3 innings of work in the middle innings, but ultimately did a great job eating innings and limiting damage: 1 R, 4 H, 3 BB, 2 Ks. This was just Broca’s second game in Low-A ball – an impressive rise after playing 4 DSL games and 6 Arizona Complex League before joining Carolina. Center fielder Yophery Rodriguez’s 7th inning single wasn’t exactly a bullet, but it got the job done to send Garcia and Mercado home and tie the game 2-2: Next week’s outlook: Carolina (67-45) returns home, welcoming Braves’ affiliate Augusta (40-70) for a 6-game set. We hope that you enjoy the Minor League Link Report. On Monday, only the Dominican Summer League affiliates are in action (at 10:00am CST). For the week, Wisconsin and Carolina managed 3-3 series draws, while Nashville (2-4) and Biloxi (1-5) fell short.
