C David Garcia proved once again that he’s more than just a steady hand behind the plate, doubling twice and drawing a walk. 3B Juan Baez also singled twice in a solid day at the plate, although he was caught off third base for an out in the 3rd inning. For the record, 2B Josh Adamczewski (1-for-3, HBP) has a sweet stroke: Mudcats’ Extras: Corniel has now reached 74 1/3 innings for the season, more than double his output in 2023. We'll probably trade one of Frelick, Mitchell or Black for a key infielder. With expected year-over-year progression, I think they'll be too good to be struggling for MLB playing time behind Yelich and Chourio, with Perkins still there as depth. Then for 2B/3B/SS we'll have: Starters: Ortiz, Turang, New Acquisition MLB depth: Andruw Monasterio, Oliver Dunn Ready in AAA (2B only): Isaac Collins.

I’m sure they felt short-handed with the losses of Kuehner (promotion) and Herrera (trade). I’m also willing to give Cornielle a mulligan, figuring he may have been sad/frustrated at not being promoted to AA Biloxi despite excellent results this year. But perhaps he needs to boost his K-rate to convince the organization that he’s ready for the jump. For the DSL-to-Carolina pipeline, you've hit on the obvious 4 position players, each of which have a terrific OPS and solid BB/K ratio. To me, the other candidate is LHP Wande Torres.

Since Hull gave up the homer to Adams, then hit him the next time up, doesn’t the ump have to eject him and suspend him for a week? I thought the Freddie Peralta rule was now universally applied… Sigh. Yes I’m bitter that Peralta was mis-treated.
