  1. This closer has that special "pop" on his pitches when it hits the catcher's mitt. I love that look and sound.
  2. I agree, he tries to nibble. He shouldn't need a guy who needs pin point command to get by. I remember outings last year and the year before where Yo didn't have his best stuff, but he kept battling, and kept them in the game. This year he just implodes, and seems almost scared to throw the ball over the plate. Agreed on those points, and it's more fair than throwing a term like "headcase" out there. This is what a good baseball discussion looks like.
  3. No bat flip for him on that swing? I can't wait til he gets one in the ribs for doing his bat flip on one of his 295 foot fly balls. He's cocky for no good reason.
  4. I can see that. Not sure I agree with the move, but it's the only logical explanation I've seen so far. Well that didn't work. Yo had a rough outing and Nieves is 0-3 with 2 left on. .....while Lucroy is tearing the cover off the ball...and sits on the bench.
  5. And Berkman with 4 RBI in 2 AB's already tonight in the 3rd inning. Playing like the MVP.
  6. But you can see he's not attacking hitters as he has in the past. I've seen more 4-pitch walks from him this year than in all year's combined, it seems. The problem is he pitches like a guy whose fastball tops out at 87 as opposed to 94-95 mph.
  7. Hate to say it but I thought about Manny Parra too today when watching Gallardo struggle so mightily.
  8. Somehow Yo's failures today are Lucroy's fault. He seems to be the whipping boy lately.
  9. You choose that as the turning point of the inning? And not the walks? Come on. You sound like the Cubs fans blaming Bartman now.
  10. He had 0 confidence coming in, now leaving this game....it's completely shot. He literally beats himself. Easily our worst pitcher this year (that includes Sean Green).
  11. Keep walking guys Gallardo. You're getting what you deserve.
  12. For a pitcher with such good "stuff," Yo just isn't a very confident pitcher. He is too cute with his pitches. Frustrating.
  13. Yuni doesn't like to bend his knees on groundballs nor dive.
  14. Way worse running the bases too. It's obvious there's a fine line between "agressiveness" and stupidity.
  15. Bill (on Carlos Lee after injury): "He's in bad shape." Uh huh. Both literally and figuratively.
  16. McGehee is the epitome of the team's bad plate approaches. He's trying to pull absolutely everything! Can't he take the ball to the opposite field?
  17. So Billy Hall and El Caballo kill us today. Makes this one that much tougher to swallow.
  18. When is it instead a matter of a hitter not taking the right plate approach as opposed to a pitcher completely dominating them? Bill is so quick to praise Bud Norris (who?) but not critique the hitters. That's one of my most frustrating things about baseball. Giving too much praise to a pitcher and not putting enough blame on poor hitting approaches.
  19. I'd pound low sliders all day to Weeks if I was an opposing pitcher. He'd never beat me. He only has success consistently hitting a fastball. Suprised Gomez K'd too. Terrible 2-hitter. RR keeps putting him there and keeps getting the same results.
  20. Our lefty soft-tossers love to hate on Lucroy. What's going on??
