  1. Why wait to see if we lose? Rant now when the bone head plays are happening or our pitchers are getting rocked. Don't think you'll hurt my feelings, I've already started raining on the Brewers parade.
  2. Brewers pitching staff absolutely stinks this year. They've been giving up lots and lots of runs. Newsflash: Maddux is no genius.
  3. The Reds can throw runs on the board as quickly as anyone in the bigs. They have a potent lineup....giving them runs never helps either.
  4. Someone please tell me what Jenks' average is with the bases loaded. I'm guessing .150ish....great move by their manager (and this is even before he takes a swing this AB)...
  5. Miller is just pathetic up there right now. I haven't seen him hit a ball in the outfield all year long. Nubby ground ball outs galore. Kudos to Lee and Prince tonight. The kid showed me some heart by roping that 0-2 ball vs. Lidge. No easy task. But that Miller guy is terrible. Melvin didn't do his work this winter addressing that pressing need: catching!
  6. 2B Weeks SS Hardy RF Jenkins LF Lee CF Gross 1B Fielder 3B Hall/Koskie C Miller P Pitchers Spot I think Yost should try that lineup tommorow. I'm with you, in theory. I think Weeks is killing us too with his bat this season. Not a HR or any sign of consistency. Put his butt on the bench for a couple of games and get Hall some AB's. Weeks has had his opportunity to string something together by playing man consecutive games, so it's Billy's turn now. Play Gross though for Clark..I agree.
  7. If Gross is not in the lineup tomorrow, I'll absolutely go nuts with frustration at Ned Yost's stubborness. He deserves it. This guy is a hitter. Find him some AB's...anywhere.
  8. Who can the crew call up to help the pen tomorrow ? MARK ROGERS!!!!! Why the heck not?
  9. You know, Stevo, this is one time in my life where I hope I'm totally 100% wrong and you are 100% right. I want this team to finish above .500 and contend but I just can't see it from the way they've played this year. Even when they were 5-0 they were just eeking through the games, and now that they're facing stiffer competition, they aren't getting those same breaks. Good teams find ways to win whether they're at home or on the road. They better have a great homestand to make up for the 2-7 road trip that they'll have just completed (assuming of course they lay and egg and get swept tomorrow by Pettite).
  10. I don't see a huge regression from the staff either, but early on, it isn't too hard to fathom they'll be worse by what we've seen thus far from this team. Frankly, I think with the youth of this team, we'll end up being worse with RISP than last year. P.S. This Demaria guy can hop on the first plane to Huntsville. I know he was in AAA, but I don't want him ruining the psyches of the prospects in Nashville with his crappy stuff.
  11. The way they're playing, I don't know why I'm the one who's defending my stance of them being a sub-.500 team and taking a step back. Some of you please explain to me why they are a BETTER team than last year. I can't find even 1 legit reason. Please enlighten me.
  12. BadgerFan... Thank you for helping me out there. That's a very good summary as to why this team will take a step back. I will give a few reasons of my own so you all don't think I'm talking out of my butt here. Reason #1: Youth. Weeks, Fielder, Hardy are all still learning the MLB game. You can't expect them to have ups and downs and still compete throughout the year. Reason #2: Average pitching. Sheets is a #2 on a playoff team. Davis and Cappy are 4-type pitchers and Ohka isn't even a top 5. That's simply put. Cappy had a career year last year with 18 wins. He'll be lucky to get 12 this year. He's not going to get nearly the run support with the worst offense in baseball behind him. Reason #3: Yost's managing. He keeps his pitchers in the game way too long when they're getting rocked. Note: Wise in yesterday's game giving up a 5-spot in 1 inning and never even thinking of pulling him. And Doug Davis giving up 9 and Yost finally realizing that maybe it's time to yank him. I'm going to start calling Ned "Dusty" pretty soon. Reason #4: Total reliability on Carlos Lee. If he struggles, the team struggles. Pardon me, we don't struggle...we LOSE. If we trade him, you can kiss any hopes of a winning season or even a .500 season bye bye. I could go on, but these 4 reasons are why I feel...excuse me, why I KNOW the Brewers will take a step back and finish below .500.
  13. < I still think they are going to have a winning record this season, as the season goes they will play better.(i hope)> Keep hope alive my good man. You'll be wrong. But hopefully you won't be too surprised when they finish in their usual place below .500.
  14. They can have him. We'll throw in a case of Miller too. Give me Glavine any day of the week.
  15. I'll let his pitching record and ERA do the talking for me this year. Watch and see...he'll end up "shocking" many people this year by stinking up the joint so badly that he will get demoted in the rotation. He's easy to figure out. He's very hittable. And today, he's looking like the worst pitcher in the big leagues.
  16. < Rome was not built in a day, its going to take time. > Because of all the young players on this team, they will not even be .500 this year. It will take some time to get these guys experience, and that means a step back will be in order this year. It will be painful at times but we should still end up in the mid to upper 70's in wins.
  17. If you want to settle for being 82-80 and mediocrity is your goal, then Double freakin' D is the man of your choice. Me, I'm sorry, I want a playoff and champion-caliber team here and realistically, that team doesn't have a Doug Davis anywhere near the top of their rotation whether you like to believe that or not.
  18. Even before Davis gave up all these runs, I thought to myself...this guy is our #2 pitcher and we expect to make the playoffs with this staff? HECK NO! This guy is average at best. On a team with high expectations, you need a more dominating #2...not a soft tossing finesse pitcher. On a winning team he is a #4 at best. Whether you people like to believe it, his stuff is very hittable and frankly, not that impressive. A contract extension? Absolutely NOT. We have the likes of Jackson and Eveland waiting in the wings. They'll be a heck of a lot better than this clown.
  19. Well, I vented a little bit and now I'm actually feeling better now. Thanks for bearing with my couple of posts. I got my feelings out there and didn't seem to offend anyone. YES! My focus now is somehow pulling off a miracle the next two days and beating 2 of the toughest pitchers in baseball. I set out with a 4-win goal for this road trip. My thinking is we'll find a way to pull off at least one of the two remaining (my guess being against Andy on Wed). 3-6...would not very good at all. But these are 3 of the toughest teams in the NL so I guess it's not like we dropped all these games to the likes of Pittsburgh, ARZ, or FLA. That's as positive as I can be for tonight.
  20. Katuluu..... You are the winner!!!! I was waiting for someone to tell me it was "only April". These sort of things set the tone for the season. Disappointing losses like these are telling of the character of the ballclub and the way that clutch hitting is non-existent. The worst hitting team in the MLB and you're telling me there's a chance? Our pitching is good....but not nearly good enough to carry us all season long. Yost has to get his head out of his lower extremities and start switching up the batting order or putting guys in there who can hit (ie. Gross!!! Hart!!!). Mix it up. If Yost's definition of mixing it up is putting Chad Moeller in there, then good luck.
  21. Matty Wise's 7th = Webster's dictionary definition for "WHEELS COMING OFF" All the Brewers fans who thought playoffs....empty that thought from your minds. The team is 1) too young 2) too inconsistent 3) terrible hitting with RISP 4) terrible hitting in general. You don't win games like that, let alone get anywhere near the playoffs.
  22. This is why we stink...can't hit with RISP. Bottom line. Cut and paste this because in the weeks to come this will be the story of our season.
  23. < Even if we get swept it doens't necessarily mean we are a worse team.> They are the top team in the division. If we can't ever beat them how can we say we're a better team? They're superior in every aspect of the game and have players who can carry a team: Pujols, Edmonds, Rolen, Carpenter, Marquis, Mulder....we have 1: C LEE.
  24. I realize people's frustrations are stemming from the bonehead plays by Jenks and Weeks. Mostly Jenks because it's his 3rd error (P.S. anyone who mentions Jenkins and Gold Glove in the same sentence this year needs to be taken out back and put out of his misery). On a lighter note, I'm not even upset. Why? Because I knew we were an inferior team to the Cardinals. Anyone who thinks we're better apparently is getting their wakeup call right about now. Bring out the brooms because Cy Suppan is on the hill tomorrow to keep our bats silenced. Brewers baseball....addicting and very frustrating at the same time.
  25. Exactly...the reason we lost was Jose Capellan. The guy is straight fastball all the time. Mulder just sat on it. He knew it was coming. You throw the guy junk pitches when you get ahead of him. Can't he get a curveball in there for a strike? When he had him in the hole, all he needed to do was throw an offspeed pitch in there and it would have thrown him all off. Not too smart.
