  1. I can predict one thing that will be for sure tonight: Corey Hart will be starting in CF. Yost's plan went awry last night with Magruder missing the Golden Sombrero by 1 AB. He proved himself worthy of a spot next to Ned on the bench for the forseeable future. I still ask myself at times what this clown is even doing in a MLB uniform (and why ours?)
  2. A great man once said....Roger, "the dugout is to your left!!" Well, a good man anyways. Thanks D Sutton!
  3. Who wanted to start JJ today??
  4. I like to go by what I see and not by what meaningless stats tell me. To say that JJ is hitting well is a joke. Hall at least gives us a chance to break the game open with the pop in his bat. Hardy is only defense. I am sick of seeing him ground out into weak, easy plays for the SS or 3B. He doesn't seem to hit the ball hard or really get into one (maybe saw 3-4 great swings from him all year long). He'll get his playing time in the AFL where the games don't count...right now, I want to give the Brewers the best chance to tack on some W's to our standings and Yost evidently agrees with me that Hall gives us that chance a heck of a lot better than JJ does right now.
  5. "Hall really doesn't hit that well, either, unless you consider a .313 OBP hitting well." I feel a lot better knowing this guy could get into one and not just hit nubber groundouts to SS like his counterpart JJ does. And the 15 HR's don't hurt either.
  6. Oh sorry....I must've been hallucinating when I looked at his BA of .203. He can hit....he can hit really, really, well. What am I thinking??? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/eyes.gif
  7. Hall for Hardy. Once again, Hardy cannot hit.
  8. Hey, we're not hitting lately....what is your solution?? Play JJ Hardy?? Some of you people need to get your head examined. He can't hit.
  9. A fairweather fan is someone who only roots for a team when they are winning and abandons them when they stink. Case in point: the Chicago Cubs. For many years they were horrible and no one cared about them. Now that they've gotten good over the last few years, everyone wants to be at Wrigley and be seen there. If you're trying to imply that I'm a fairweather fan....then you're wrong. I still watch every game. I still suffer through the losses with hopes of winning seasons in the near future. I just won't kid myself into thinking this team is full of talent and on the verge....as many of the people in here think they are. I'm realistic...average players like Branyan and Hall play a huge role on our team....I know that winning teams don't have players like this that they rely on.
  10. bjamesw22, By calling me out individually, I guess that tells me that you are the definition of what I wrote in my last post.
  11. I like it how people can still be "homers" even after these huge blowouts. I thank God that there are other people like myself in here who will take the blinders off and look at the real picture and have the guts to say it like it is. We're not Daron Sutton. We're not gonna be like him and make up excuses about the altitude and Ben Sheets standing on first too long because of his base hit and then had to come out and pitch....that's BS! People have to realize is that being a good baseball fan is all about questioning your organization and the players/manager who make the team function day in and day out. Mediocrity sets in and becomes acceptable when we have people like those in these message boards making up excuses for the team and Sheets and saying stuff that makes losing Ok. Let me tell you something....I know I'm not the only one who thinks it is NOT OK.
  12. "They're just not very talented. People need to come to grips with that" Thank you. People in here need to see that there are a lot of holes to fill on this team. Improved hitting, better starting pitching/ bullpen help of course...better defensive team (has a lot to do with coaching)....more speed, being able to hit with RISP....lay down a bunt. People don't realize that these are the things that separates contenders from pretenders (ie. Brewers). The Cardinals do all of the above. They are a well coached team and have players who are clutch and want to be the hero. They feed off each other. The Brewers have no one to feed off...that's the problem. P.S. Ben Sheets should feel embarrassed to look in the box score and see 10 ER given up to the Rockies. For $10 mill/ yr, I expected more heart than that.
  13. How is that bum Lehr even in the majors? He has average stuff and hasn't done anything to impress me. I'm sick of these no name, good for nothing players sucking up roster spots (Durrington, Magruder, Helling, Lehr).
  14. "I made a promise to our fans...that we would fight till the last out...." I watch that stupid commercial today and think.....did Ned's team really fulfill it's promise today? Swinging on first pitches....for the fences....not putting the ball in play... Sickening.
  15. El Caballo's swing is all over the place. I don't know how his avg is still in the .260's....he's been terrible lately.
  16. That makes it an even 10 ER given up by our "ace". It's gonna be a long September.....I predict we'll barely finish above Pittsburgh for 5th place in the division. That's just not because we are getting our butts kicked today...I just think the Cubs, with Nomar and Wood back will put some W's together, and the Reds are coming on strong and playing well as of late.
  17. Will a sweep by the Rockies finally shut up all of those people in here still thinking Wild Card?? If they can't beat the Rockies, how will they survive 10 games against the likes of Clemens, Pettite, and Oswalt.
  18. No surprise to me. When you throw nothing but fastballs to major league hitters, it doesn't take them very long to catch up to it and start to hit. BEN IS OFFICIALLY GETTING ROCKED!
  19. Shroeder is right....it should be 2-0 right now. This is why we won't finish .500. Terrible execution. Or lack thereof.
  20. Thank you for posting those numbers to back my points wonderfully. Besides A+ ball where he hit .293, where do you see impressive numbers? If you are all happy with the resurrection of Royce Clayton #2, then by all means, stand up and cheer because that's what you're getting in Hardy.
  21. Say what you want, but I know I'm not the only one in here who's borderlined shocked when he comes up with a 2 hit night. He just doesn't hit the ball hard enough...it seems like 90% of his outs are weakly hit infield ground outs. At least when Weeks hits the ball and makes an out, you can see potential there because of the muscle that he puts behind each swing and the pure hitter within him. I'm sorry, but statistics back up what I am saying. People do not like to hear it, but Hardy was a below average minor league hitter as well. I don't remember him ever cracking .300 or getting anywhere close. I measure people on results...not what I "hope" and pray they will end up being. I see a Royce Clayton-like career for JJ. I'm sticking with that prediction. Sidenote: If he is our #2 hitter next year...we're in BIG trouble.
  22. Hardy is NO #2 hitter. He hasn't shown me anything to believe that he'll ever be any more than a .250 hitter. He needs to add muscle if he will ever project to the 10-15 HR's they have him slated to achieve in the next few years.
  23. Just because Suppan is in a Cardinals uniform, he scares the Brewers hitters. When he was with Pittsburgh, I didn't see this fear or dominance from him. The worst part about this game (if we lose) would be the embarrassment that would come from losing to a AAA team. Baseball Tonight will show the Cardinals lineup card tonight and say, "who are these guys?" And the Brewers will the the butt of the joke.
  24. Hardy kills our lineup. I think it's safe to say that whenever Hardy comes up to bat, we all EXPECT to see an out recorded. When he gets a hit, we're surprised and kinda see it as a bonus. That's not good.
  25. "I think within 2 years he's going to be a major star, and I'm not the only one." I've never seen a major star who couldn't hit a curve ball...
