  1. Oh, I'm not. I haven't been confident in him all year long regardless of what his ERA may suggest. He's not as deceptive as last year with that "killer" changeup and his fastball is meat. It just seems like every game he's in, he gives up a hit or walk to make things more difficult than they were last season.
  2. Hmm...as soon as I saw it was Nomar who was hitting, I suddenly got a sinking feeling in my stomach. After laughing to myself about yet another Cubs loss, how did I know a former Cub himself would sting us. P.S. Wise isn't the Wise of '05.
  3. < how many times this season has jenkins hit a bouncer to first?> Jenks has looked absolutely horrendous up there at the plate all night. I know it sounds like venting, but I really think Ned should sit him down a game and let Gross play a game in RF. I can't remember the last time Jenks got a rest. Now's the time, he's struggling.
  4. It's felt like a "W" to me all night long for some reason. I'm thinking with the Reds and HOU losing tonight, it is prime for a Brew Crew comeback win to keep us within striking distance for 1st. It helps to have 9-1-2 up for us too this inning. Let's get some runs!
  5. < That wasn't even close. Bad call on sending him.> Hey, Sveum took a chance. I can't fault him for that. If the throw is off, you can pretty much seal the deal for a Brewers win. Sometimes you get lucky, sometimes you make the 3rd out.
  6. No offense, but as far as I've seen you're the only one who has disputed that he is our ace. That's alright Stevo...no offense taken. I'm going to stand by my stance throughout the year (that's why I used the word DISPUTED). Until he proves me wrong, I'll believe I'm right and his ultimate success would bode well for the team's sake.
  7. We've got our *disputed* ace on the mound tonight. I'm feeling good about this one with Cappy on the hill. Should be a great game and Lowe will no doubt come to play as well.
  8. This is one where you just gotta tip your cap, sit down and let that sinking feeling in your stomach go away because this happens. A guy like Schmidt or Maddux (last week) can be on his A+ game and you can't do anything about it. Tonight the way he pitched the 9th showed his saavy nature by throwing all of those changeups to Jenks and Prince. I just hope Davis doesn't make tomorrow a walk-a-thon.
  9. I'm for getting Gross some consistent playing time in CF and seeing what he can do when he can string some AB's together. Brady has proven that he's not getting out of his slump any time soon, so why not give the kid a chance? He always puts together great at bats and he would be a welcomed addition to the lineup. Thoughts?
  10. I accept your apology. Let's get some runs!
  11. jloos19... I just read through the chat for the first time, and I would like to refrain from addressing your comment because I would not have anything positive to say. However, Dave Bush is impressing me tonight and I am very encouraged that he is not getting distraught by the lack of run support and is staying on his game. Props for going right at Bonds too....gutsy performance. strawbossisevil... Thank you for addressing his childish remark and defending me. GO CREW!
  12. Well it's hard to say the Brewers are a better team when you notice the Astros are in second place with a great record minus Roger Clemens. I think people on here, and rightfully so, generally think the Brewers potential long-term is a lot better than that of Houston's. I also feel that at the current time, I would take our team over the Astros because of the fact our rotation is more complete 1-5 than theirs and our bullpen is every bit as good as theirs when our main guys are on.
  13. I feel like a President who's being impeached. Can't we focus on baseball and not me? I don't post about you guys unless you make a comment about something I say. I can't help it if you disagree with what I say. If you had objective baseball fans in this room who rooted for the Braves, Cardinals, White Sox, etc. they would think my comments are fine and while the majority may disagree with my point, are very valid statements. If you take a step back and actually read what I have to say before calling for my head and cheap-shotting me, maybe you would realize that things I say may carry some merit.
  14. I love how Yost came out and said I hope people stop criticizing Weeks for his defense after 1 good play yesterday. Sutton spoke like Weeks was a gold glover and replayed that play during today's game. Low and behold, that gold glover resorts to his old ways and has 2 errors on the day and 1 with his feet on that play in the 8th inning. Call a spade a spade here people.
  15. Hey brewerjamie.... You're the dictionary definition of the word troll. : BY BRIAN Read first before you go defending people.
  16. Just saying that indicates that you consider the rest of us to be irrational. Don't read too far into things there buddy. And Brian, back up your statement about me rooting for every other team but the Brewers. I challenge you to find one time....ONE TIME on this board where I've rooted for another team. What a joke.
  17. Actually, my computer is very quiet when booting up. It must be someone elses. I thought in order to be called a TROLL you must be a fan of another team. Last time I checked I was a Brewers fan. A rational Brewers fan. Billy Hall made a play that everyday CF's dream of making. That play makes Rickie Weeks' defense look that much more pathetic and showcases what TRUE athleticism is.
  18. Wow, I must be making some pretty good points here if all you can do is bash me for how often I show up on here. I visit here on days we win. What's there to say when you win 16-2 or 9-0? YIPPEEE!!! I would rather make intelligent comments that actually incite conversation and make people realize that every team has flaws and we can improve in many aspects of the game before we can call ourselves contenders. Sorry if I offend all the homers on this board.
  19. On which team? The Cardinals? Astros? Red Sox? Yankees? Blue Jays? White Sox? I could go on and on....it's all relative. On other teams....yes, he may be their #1. BUT....when your options are limited, someone does have to take the 1 spot.
  20. < Bucksman, where have you been during the winning streak? You only come on this board when we're losing.> I don't know, but you're "Mr. Positive" too with your "you can't spell Rickie without a K or an E." Don't get so touchy. I'm not criticizing you...you're not the one making $10 million to pitch a baseball.
  21. Boy, he's got to have the worst luck of every pitcher in major league history then. The point I'm trying to make is if he was 1/2 as athletic as Cappy is and can contribute with the glove and pick up a key hit once in a while, maybe he might have a few more wins on his total. Don't discount the value of being more than just a "pitcher." It's the intangibles that make a star a star, and I see one in the making with Capuano.
  22. Keep living in the Sheets fantasy land everyone. When Capuano blows him away with his numbers and wins this season, I'll come back and ask you if you still would go with #15 as the "ace" of this staff. Find me another $10 mill/yr pitcher with his win totals and I'll start to rationalize what makes him so much better than Cappy.
  23. Where's Ned's head???? PINCH HIT WHEN YOU'RE DOWN 4 RUNS!!!
  24. I concede your point about needing run support to do well. The bottom line, though, is that since joining the staff, Capuano has been much, much more consistent than Sheets. I will not ease on my stance saying that Capuano is the staff ace until proven otherwise. Sheets needs to show me some consistent outings where he starts the game without giving up a first run inning and coming out of the pre-game bullpen warmed up and ready to get MLB hitters out. He's got to step up his game if we want to go anywhere. Especially if he's going to be paired against the opposing team's ace.
  25. And I'm asking you to look more at WINS than K's. In that category, Capuano trumps Big Benny hands down. The last time I checked, it was wins that got teams to the playoffs. It was wins that won teams World Championships. When strikeouts or innings pitched becomes the barrier by which to measure these things, I will give in to your thinking. Until then, I'll base things on production.
