  1. This is a miserable viewing experience: not just watching Suppan and Julio revisit the act I had to sit through at AT&T Park earlier this week, but all the crowd shots make it look like it's 75% Cubs' fans at MP. Annoying. On the other hand, Joe Morgan and Steve Phillips haven't driven me up a wall yet. Anyway, as far as the game goes, I can't say I'm happy that Macha left Soup in two batters too long and then let Julio bat there.
  2. While, I guess Yuku held off as long as possible. It's frustrating, but what can you do. How much would bf.net need to donate to lose them? Are we stuck with them regardless?
  3. They do it all the time, apprently.http://www.insidestl.com/Portals/0/morning/edmonds_bumping_soriano_fukudome.jpg Of course, I'm sure Soriano and Fukudome have a lot of awkward conversations.
  4. The Rock on Friday, Casper/Brenly tonight, and Joe Morgan tomorrow http://z.hubpages.com/u/498183_f520.jpg Uff da.
  5. How was his call of Soriano's homer? I even thought of Provus as it was going out.
  6. Exactly, they were like mirror images. In the big picture, it seemed like the Cubs should've won yesterday and the Brewers should've won tonight. The scores of course say something differently. The strange thing is, I thought getting Theriot out in the 8th was huge--I really thought he'd have been the backbreaker in the 9th and when he came up in the 8th I was pretty nervous. Can't underrate Heileman in the 8th, either--the Brewers went down with a whimper when they really could've stood to produce at least one more there.
  7. I don't know if it's the aforementioned numbness to this situation, or that the Brewers finally made the playoffs last year so I'm not as pent up, or that my expectations this year are relatively lower anyway, or that it's still early, or what, but I'm just not as enraged or depressed by this as I would've been the last few years. I mean, I'm not particularly pleased, and I'm sure if I was at MP and some NIU frat kid from Schaumburg or attorney from Glencoe with a crisp brand new Cubs jersey was up in my grill I'd have a hard time keeping my emotions in check, but for now I'm most upset with Brad Fischer and the waste of a middling Zambano start.
  8. Sadly, I'm used to the Cubs winning by 9th inning home runs by now.
  9. I'd turned the game off right after the called strike, what happened Saturday night game, dramatic Cubs win...yeah, there's gonna be a dust-up or two in the parking lots
  10. I'll probably be stuck with the WGN feed as well, but it is currently listed on my Comcast Extra Innings I like how this one's starting late enough for me to be able to see it, those Saturday afternoon blackouts for Fox on EI drove me nuts last year.
  11. Darn, wish I'd checked the thread earlier Anyway, there are a couple up on eBay right now, but they start at $7 and $10 (!). Think I'll wait a bit.
  12. I'm a little surprised none are on eBay yet.
  13. A really scary moment, the way he went for the ball after it hit him as if on instinct, but then his arms just dropped and he crumpled. The park got dead quiet--I even took off my rally cap after that, I felt like a clown
  14. Nice to pick up a low-scoring dramatic win at home against the Cubs after that mostly disheartening series in SF Cubs practically gifted that one to us, but at least the Brew Crew didn't do anything to not be able to take advantage of it.
  15. There is absolutely no talk about a delay or postponement at all anywhere here. In fact, Fitz & Brooks on KNBR are doing their show from the Acme Chophouse at AT&T Park right now, and they mentioned the drizzle, but said the game will happen tonight. Obviously they're not the official word, but they talk to the Giants people right there. It won't be the best conditions to watch or play in, but I think it'll happen.
  16. Just check sfgate.com, they'll post if it's rained out As of right now, even if it stays like this all day, I still think they get it in if only based on the schedule issues. I mean, I don't know what the field conditions are like, but if it's under tarp until the game, I think it'll be dry enough to be safe for the length of the game. There's no wind or lightning and the rain is really just drizzling. They might not play today if we were the Diamondbacks and would be coming back to town (or the coast!) another three times, but given the schedule considerations, I think they jam it out.
  17. Raining out there right mow, and is supposed to all day, but it's pretty light and on and off...most people aren't even using umbrellas in it. Hopefully they get it in, because the leash for a delay won't be very long. I mean, for now it's probably best for the Brewers if they called it early so they could get home and get a couple extra hours of sleep in their own beds, but for selfish reasons I really want to see the game today and who knows how they would have to swing some crazy travel to get it in later this year (and I'd be gutted to have to eat the money for these tickets if the game never happens this year because it doesn't have to).
  18. Sad...Adenhart was probably on top of the world when this senselessness happened.
  19. Thoght you guys would also like this blurb from the San Francisco Chronicle's website: "Randy Johnson left a crowd of 40,764 to marvel at the stuff he still can bring at 45, but he found himself on the business end of a 4-2 loss after serving up a home run that registered 8.6 on the You've Got to Be Kidding Me scale." And Schulman goes on... He was impressed, apparently!
  20. Asked if he was nervous in his first save situation in place of injured Trevor Hoffman, Villanueva said, "I was more nervous sitting in the dugout the last few days (waiting to pitch). Once I got on the mound, getting trash from the fans, I felt way better. I felt relaxed...." I just saw this quote in TH's blog and found it pretty interesting, since I noticed that from the time Villy got up to warm up in the 8th, the fans in that corner were just riding him, really giving him the business, a few to the point of standing up and screaming at him as he tossed. It was all in general fun, I'm sure, but it's nice that he shut them up regardless. Hopefully he can do it again tomorrow.
  21. I know "ditto" type posts are discouraged, but I feel woogie deserves it here! Glad to see the woogie mojo will be with us even when woogie can't be, not to mention the sharp look. Anyway, as for the game, the Brewers have been OK against Cain in the past, as has Parra against the Giants, but both are incomplete small samples. I do believe our offense has enough firepower (even on a bad day like today, they were knocking it around a bit) that we can pull out a series win tomorrow with a decent outing from Manny, who'll have a lot of friends and family out there tomorrow. I'll be meeting BrewJohn before the game (still trying to find soloist57 out there!) at the Ferry Building. Otherwise, see you at Red's Java House at 1:30, Brewers fans!
  22. I believe that people who watch the games on TV usually have more intelligent (or at least intelligible) things to say than those who see it live, so I guess I'll just state the obvious: Yo's sinker really seemed to pick up after the first few innings--he looked sharper as he went on; Yo CRUSHED that homer--it just deflated the crowd and was fantastic to see (it would've been a Splash Hit the other way); Coffey's high heat tonight was filthy filthy filthy, I hope Todd Coffey 2.0 (not the guy I used to like see come up for the Reds) sticks around for a long while; More Brewers fans there today, what with it not being Opening Day, I love those field club seats: the team definitely acknowledged the cheers of us sitting behind them (I know they're professionals, but it's gotta be somewhat awkward having a grown stranger yelling encouragement or a complement to you!); The hitters seemed to get some good wood on the ball tonight despite Yo doing everything for the team tonight, I hope and believe they can get enough runs tomorrow to take the series against Cain behind an OK Parra outing
  23. Gallardo's splits (two lousy games in '07, mind you) against the Giants haven't been remarkable, for what it's worth--he got pretty roughed up out here in his last AT&T Park start. Mind you, most of the Giants' lineup from that game has since retired or moved on, for better or for worse. And his splits are better than Johnson's have been against the Brewers last year. On the other hand, Parra has performed quite well against the Giants. But the other side of the same coin: a good chunk of those players he faced are no longer in San Francisco.
