  1. I live here, I'll be here for all three I mean, I suppose I can understand protecting the young arms and creaying beneficial matchups (and we've had success against "Timmy"), but I wish it was Bush or Looper opening instead.
  2. I paid a lot of money to watch this game, and I am not pleased.
  3. I've been there. The food was fine but the signature Watermelon Wheat was horrid (I'm really not a fruit beer guy), and it was flowing like water that night. The other offerings were similar to average/good. I liked the venue the best of the SF Brew Pubs by far 'tho. SF is an odd beer town. They try, but they tend to care more about the "atmosphere" than the beer itself. Most of the best local stuff is made just outside of town, although Anchor Steam is often my sesh beer I do love that Watermelon Wheat though, actually, and I'm not a big fruit beer guy, either.
  4. Yeah, between Nankivil, Taylor and Hughes, and provide Leuer adds some muscle and Bohannon can get his touch back consistently like tonight, I'm getting pretty excited for this Badger team the next couple seasons
  5. Wisconsin was the least clutch team all season long, they lost in the last minutes/seconds all year long; I can't believe Hughes pulled that off... I didn't even care about the Wake loss absolutely killing my bracket, this first round win by a mediocre Wisconsin team was so, so much more satisfying than the heartless few wins (and of course the disappointing losses) posted by well-regarded Badger teams the last few years I don't even care that they're really not long for the tournament, that was just an awesome gutsy win Wow!
  6. I guess I feel OK highjacking this thread since it appears to have come to its natural end... They called it "Once in a Lifetime"?!? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif
  7. So what were the Brewers I wonder?
  8. Glad he's OK, first and foremost But secondly, I hope it doesn't weigh too heavily on his brother's mind this Friday
  9. We were talking about 21st Amendment a bit today in the San Francisco thread, they're a local microbrewpub that's recently started selling cans of its beer in Northern California (and BevMos, I believe). Anyway, today they announced that they're rolling out a seasonal beer called "Spring Tweet" in honor of Twitter....make it stop!!!
  10. If you had more time, I'd suggest just making the six hour drive to Kalamazoo and picking the kegs up at Bell's yourself. When I lived in Chicago, we'd do that all the time--go over there, have a pint or two with a sandwich at their place (pretty nice), and take the keg back for a party that evening. Of course, we were somewhat closer.
  11. I might just put that in my sig Anyway, while I think this was just harmless fun, I agree that A-Rod has no sense of timing whatsoever.
  12. I also second Teatoe93's recommendation regarding those Field Club seats...you're right there by the team, from dugout to clubhouse, and generally around a pretty good concentration of Brewers' fans. And yeah, having the servers and relaxed atmosphere in the food court area down there is nice. Costs a few more bones, certainly, but worth it for those three games a year. I'll be there for Wednesday and Thursday games, but the FC seats were too rich for my blood on Opening Day, so I'm just in the lower boxes behind home plate for Tuesday--I'll survive I suppose!
  13. Coach Winton gave some very good advice there, and I definitely second his 21st Amendment recommendation. We go over there pretty often throughout the year and never miss it during the annual Brewers' series at AT&T: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v492/SeriesFinale75/IMG_5076.jpg Last year I got so tanked up there after the Saturday day game that I ended up wanting to get a photo with this waiter there who told us he'd graduated from Bay View High School (my Mom's alma mater) in Milwaukee: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v492/SeriesFinale75/IMG_5078.jpg Uff da. (I don't normally go for fruit beer, but their Watermelon Wheat was really hitting the spot that day. Apparently.)
  14. I have to admit that the thread title had me wary of opening it... I personally find it kinda funny, which is the reason (I think) he did it, similar to that bit on Letterman where he was getting massaged by Biff Henderson. But you're right that it's not the way it'll be perceived, and not just because this guy can't win when it comes to the court of public opinion even before the steroids admission.
  15. A professional sports jersey is inherently furthering a corporate agenda no matter what. Then again, that guy clearly ruminates about uniforms much more than I do, so I'll defer.
  16. I already picked one up for my Grandfather today...I know he'll get a kick out of these old photos
  17. Yeah, I'm still partial to Culver's as far as burgers go, but you've gotta have an In-N-Out double-double with some animal-style fries while you're here. As far as ballpark food goes, Garlic fries are like the Giants' version of a brat with special sauce at MP...something you gotta have while you're here. (I'm partial to some beef with broccoli from Edsel Ford Fong's myself!) The Ghiradelli sundaes are great, too. AT&T is a great park, maybe my favorite...one of the bests part about it is the cheaper your seats, the better your overall view. So if the Brew Crew is losing 9-0 in the 8th, at least you've got some decent vistas of the Oakland Hills and Mt. Diablo across the bay...
  18. In practice, yes. In theory, no. If that makes sense. I needed to be ordained to be able to marry some friends in Madison this summer, so I got ordained online through a fly-by-night church (the "Universal Life Church"), but it does make me official with Dane County. Anyway, I mentioned it in a thread here, and then someone changed my screen name.
  19. SF is hard to do on the cheap, but you can get much better hotel rates down by SFO or Oakland/Berkeley and take BART into town for the game. Then again, given the economy, there are probably a lot of really good deals right now, especially last-minute and in the middle of the week. There are a lot of hotels down by Union Square and Fisherman's Wharf and then along the Embarcadero, all of which you'll be able to jump on an N or T train to AT&T Park from (if you stay by the wharf, you'll need to transfer from the F at the Embarcadero stop). San Francisco is actually a really small town and you can walk most anywhere. Yeah, make sure you have tickets--it's a lot harder for this particular series given it's the opener, although you'll likely be able to snag a pair of something day of, especially now that Manny's in LA. There are a lot of touts walking up and down King and 3rd Street, selling, on most game days, and I wouldn't expect the opener to be too different. And yeah, bring a heavier coat--the park is right on the water, and San Francisco Bay will never be mistaken for the Caribbean. Any other specifics, just ask me...I know John Brew will also be here for the Thursday game this series; I'm not sure who else will be here for Opening Day.
  20. That was a rough series, wasn't it? At least we saw Braun's first MLB home run. My wife and I took it pretty easy and just hung around the Gaslamp District and Balboa Park, killin' a couple bottles of wine out by the Globe. Very relaxing.
  21. Wow, a lot of really cool photos there I'd never seen before, both of the players and the fans (love the guy carrying a case of Schlitz into County Stadium)
  22. Man, I love the Brew Crew, and this beats a Brew Crew win any day. Great news, Nic.
  23. I can't thank those who donated enough...and it's not too late! Great afternoon today--right before my group got shaved, a bunch of kids from the Oakland Children's Hospital cancer ward plus recent childhood cancer survivors came on and spoke to the crowd there watching at the Bay Street mall. I'm not particularly religious, but I can tell you that the doctors there and all those who are working to help these children--including you guys--are doing God's work. A lot of the kids were in masks to protect their weakened immune systems, but those who could speak were very moving: life is just beginning for these children, and I'm so glad they're going to be able to stick around to enjoy all the wondrous stuff I (and maybe you) take for granted on a daily basis. Anyway, here are before and after photos (I made sure to wear a Brewers' t-shirt for you guys since brewerfan.net came big), plus photos of the deed--I love the look on the face of the kid to my left. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v492/SeriesFinale75/IMG_5833.jpghttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v492/SeriesFinale75/IMG_5836.jpghttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v492/SeriesFinale75/IMG_5840.jpghttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v492/SeriesFinale75/IMG_5845.jpghttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v492/SeriesFinale75/IMG_5846.jpg Thanks again, everyone, and again... ...it's never too late to donate!
