  1. We get Garrett Cooper for Keston Huira Cooper platoons with Tellez, plays some OF occasionally, and DH's. The Marlins go for the younger player with more upside, We get RP Josh Staumont for Tyrone Taylor (maybe a lower level prospect) We get a solid 7th/8th inning guy with some control the Royals get a versatile OF. We get Bryan Reynolds and Chris Stratton for Mitchell, Turang, Small, Quero and Gunnar Henderson We were close to getting Reynolds at the deadline, perhaps this could get done in the offseason. Trade Hader to Dodgers for Bobby Miller, Miguel Vargel, Alex Vesia We heal the system a little getting 2 high upside prospects and Vesia can be a late inning guy to help replace Hader
  2. Prospects are hard to value but Kirk was a 1 WAR catcher in 160 abs, so he is likely at worst a slightly above average catecher. Hogland and Lopez are unknown, maybe switching Lopez for another pitcher is a good idea if Cleveland had MI depth. I also feel like top end relievers get more back in value because of the rarity of a consistent and dominant closer. Kimbrel got Madrigel and a decent young reliever after having 2 awful years. Add in a higher salary and with a half year less control (and 6 years older) and Hader probably has 2 times that value, at least 2 top 100 prospects and top 10 level or 2 mid level prospects. I would say the Brewers would need to give up more than Hader and a throw in for Ramirez because it is easy to forget, he has been in the top 5 for MVP 4 of 5 years and is only 29 still. Also, I listen to a lot of Chicago sports radio (only sports channel for section of my commute) and at least the host on the Score view Garcia as a utility guy. So trading Wong for Kimbrel makes a little sense, only if you get Ramirez 1st (I wouldn't do that otherwise). New Deal(s) We get Olsen, Phillies Get Hader, Miguel Sanchez A's get Alec Bohm, Bryson Stott, Mid-level, phillies prosect, Rowdy Tellez (A's trade Chapman somewhere else) Olsen upgrades 1B, Phillies improve there pen and A's get 3 staring infielders with some upside. We get Madison Baumgartner (like 10 million a year for 3 years) and Seth Beer (my favorite underrated prospect) for Eric Lauer and Keston Huira This one is mostly predicated on my love for Seth Beer and an attempt to sell high on Lauer. Also some belief that MadBum isn't done for, he is only 32 and can be super effective if he can leave that dumpster fire in the desert and the Brewers pitching staff can help get his velo up a few mph. If the D-backs eat about 1/2 of his contract it would become a moveable contract if he isn't great. Hader and Antione Kelly to LA Dodgers for Miguel Vargas, Bobby Miller, and Alex Vesia I would hater Hader to LA, however the are lots of options matches that make a Hader to LA make sense. We could easily get 3 solid pieces for Hader if the Dodgers want him. Vargas has high end power, Miller top of the rotation stuff, and Vesia could be a 7th or 8th inning bullpen piece. More to come next week, Go Badgers and Pack this weekend
  3. I thought it might be fun just to throw out random ideas for trades or free agents while we are waiting on things to happen. 1) Trade Wong to White Sox for Craig Kimbrel (Money to balance out salaries) and a lottery level prospect. 2) 3 team deal We get=Jose Ramirez and a reliever from Toronto or Cleveland Toronto=Josh Hader Cleveland=Alejandro Kirk, Gunnar Hogland, Otto Lopez, and a low level prospect from Milwaukee 1 step farther 3) Trade Lorenzo Cain to Detroit for Matt Boyd 4) Trade Eric Lauer to NYM for Brandon Nimmo and Sean Reid-Foley (or a decent prospect, like borderline top 10 in org.) In the 1st trade we improve our offense dramatically swapping Wong for Ramirez (Urias to 2nd) and the bullpen still remains strong. Then the step further the Cain trade we shed some money and then sell high on Lauer using Boyd as a stopgap until our young 2 lefties are fully ready. In return, get a top notch leadoff guy in Nimmo to replace Wong/Cain. I think all of the trade work out pretty well except I don't like that Nimmo has 1 year of control and has really only played 1 full year.
  4. I would want really want 2 top 100 level prospects for Hader and then maybe a 3rd lesser value piece. Bobby Miller or Diego Cartaya, Vargas, and maybe Alex Vessia or Mitch White. Remember we only trade Hader if we overwhelmed. Kimbrel got Madrigel, and a reliever on less time, more money, and Kimbrel had 2 rougher seasons before this year. Hader should get a substantially better return.
  5. I love this trade because it really opens up the offseason. We can put ourselves out there and know we have Peterson and Broussoeu as a safety net for almost everywhere. Someone offers a ton for Wong early, done. Trade Hader and get prospects only, no problem. Go big and get a big bat or 2, still good.
  6. The Twins got 2 top end prospects for Jose Berrios, Houser doesn’t quite have the track record but take away a bad start in 2020 and they aren’t to far away. Houser is also way less expensive. I think selling high on Houser or Lauer is a good idea. Maybe Houser, Mitchell, and a mid tier prospect or 2 for Jose Ramirez could be close. I don’t mind the idea of trading Wong if we get Ramirez. It would help clear some money if we can’t get a taker on JBJ or Cain.
  7. We still would need to be blown away to trade Hader. All contenders would be interested but I would think only a few would really be desperate enough to overpay, especially since we would want MLB level talent. Different Ideas for MLB talent Hader to Toronto for Teoscar Hernandez and Nate Pearson Hader and JBJ to Dodgers for Cody Bellinger and 2 good prospect (this is risky but interesting)(yes I know Bellinger was awful last year) Hader for Joey Gallo, Luis Gil, and a good prospect
  8. I think you give Yelich 1 more year to right the ship. Look he has been bad but he did have a .362 obp and if he didn't smash everything in the ground there is still the Marlins version of Yelich there. I doubt he hits 35 HR's again but I wouldn't dump him for trash. If next year there is still no power and adjustments I would look at salary dump options. Also with the DH likely coming maybe giving him a day or two a week as the DH makes a difference. If they did I wouldn't mind a trade like Yelich (future money???) and a good prospect (???Small, Turang, Mitchell) or Houser/Lauer for Matt Chapman and Elvis Andrus. Then flip Andrus for Eric Hosmer (and some cash or a prospect) Hosmer mans 1st, Rowdy DH's (I am assuming universal DH). I think Hosmer could flourish going from 2 of the least hitter friendly parks (KC/SD) to Milwaukee.
  9. Here is a 3 team idea. We get Jose Ramirez and Blake Parker (or other low value reliever if Parker is a FA) Angels get Adrian Houser Indians get Jo Adell, Brice Turang, and 2 lower level pitching prospects (1 from us, 1 from LAA)
  10. 1) Garrett Mitchell, Potential 5 tool threat his timeline should make him the heir to Cain 2) Brice Turang, should be a solid top of order SS/2B could still develop some power 3) Ethan Small, hard to argue the stats could be a perfect complement to our big 3. 4) Aaron Ashby, the stuff is awesome, if he can refine the control he can be a beast 5) Sal Frelick, kind of reminds me of Mitchell with less power potential, 6) Joe Gray, Kind of reminds me a bit Trent Grisham 7) Antione Kelly, high end stuff is hard come by 8) Hedbert Perez, Should be higher based on perceived talent but has to do something 1st 9) Jeferson Quero, See #8 10)Eduardo Garcia, See #8 11) Zavier Warren, extremely intriguing if he can stay at catcher. 12) Mario Feliciano, I will bump him up quickly to 6 if he can finish strong. 13) Tyler Black, another prospect who would rise quickly with a little success 14) David Hamilton, Speed plays, recently called to AA 15) Korry Howell, has lots of interesting tools 16) Jackson Chourio, see #8 17) Luis Medina, see #8 18) Jesus Parra, see #8 19) Alex Binelas, Wisconsin born power 20) Russell Smith 6'9" with exceptional control is a great start 21) Freddy Zamora, I am not really big on him Arcia upside doesn't excite me 22) Tristen Lutz, still only 22 but disappointing year 23) Hayden Cantrelle, .179 average with .374 obp, intrigued and concerned 24) Carlos Rodriguez, more walks less avg., still no power 25) Abner Uribe, big stuff/bullpen reduces prospect appeal 26) Thomas Dillard, good power but where does he play 27) Felix Valerio, hitting over .300 in A ball at 20 28) Justin Bullock, not sure on stuff but some upside 29) Cam Robinson, pretty close to Uribe not quite the stuff 30) Max Lazar, I am not giving up on him, still upside enough
