  1. Taking 3 of 4 vs STL means we only gain one game in the standings, correct? Anything less than 4 wins does us no good at all. That way we gain 4 games.
  2. I just have to laugh at anyone who is still on the "Hiura sucks and has no value" train. K's and all, this dude is a spark plug for this team who is in desperate need of that spark plug. So thankful they didn't give him away at the trade deadline for yet another relief pitcher. He has to be a full time starter at this point, maybe not defensively, but at the very least DH. Give him an occasional start in LF, 2B, and 1B, but for the love of GOD, get this kid into the line-up daily from this point on. CC, someone must be telling you to bench him because I refuse to believe that our manager is so completely stubborn that they are willing to sacrifice wins for whatever the reason is you won't play him... That, or the people calling for a change at manager might have a point. Something has to change, and it is sooooo obvious that one of those changes has to be getting Hiura full time playing status.
  3. First trade Hader, then Adames in the off season? The fans will revolt!

  5. I don't see the difference in where these guys play if they are all 3 going to play everyday anyway. If we do Adames at 3B, Turang at SS, and Urias at 2B, it's no different than Adames at SS, Urias at 3B and Turang at 2B offensively. There is no difference offensively, and I don't see there being much of a difference defensively either. Adames would have to learn a new position at 3B, so if anything, that might weaken the D. I just don't think Urias is anything more than a guy you can plug in on off days for regular players, assuming we ever sign a true 3B with power. I think we tend to get attached to these guys, and it allows us to put up with or ignore faults. Urias hasn't proven to be a regular everyday starter, and I'm not sure that will ever happen, which is why I'd rather see him take over the super sub position and we go look for a real 3B via trade.

  7. So let me get this straight. Lament, one of the pieces in the Hader deal has been DFA'd. This is a horrible look for the organization from the average fan's point of view. There will be negative blowback on this, that you can count on. Just adds to the disappointment of the deadline deals in my opinion.
  8. There is nothing, absolutely nothing wrong with questioning David Stearns. Why people get so bent out of shape when he gets questioned, or criticized is beyond me. He is not God.
  9. What a ridiculous thing to say. I choose not to even argue a point with someone who assumes without a reason.

  11. Plus defender? Isn't a chump with the bat? (I'll say he is maybe an average hitter at best) No interest in this guy, to me, he screams band aid and nothing more. If this is the best we can get to play CF for the rest of this year and the next two, I'm passing hard! Having this guy block Frelick in 2024 and possibly 2023 at some point disgusts me.

  13. How sad is it that he is our best overall hitter with numbers like that? The state of hitting in MLB is downright right pathetic. I realize that when I state the importance of batting average in your top of the order guys, I will also be accused of old time baseball thinking (which is an irritating thing to be accused of, and it happens here all the time to many posters), but it is what it is. Take any of the new stats you want that players are judged on these days, batting average and OBP are still important when it comes to table setters.
  14. The fact that this thread is still going because there are people that think it is possible is insane.

  16. Olson and Henry still could be guys we wish we had back, especially for what we got back for them. Lopez is the obvious choice for best player we've traded imo.

  18. The thought of trading any of our stud farm hands for a rental scares me to death. I simply do not view this team as a world series contender without adding 2-3 real-live-actual stud bats, plus at least one stud bull pen arm to this line-up. I do not think there is one player out there who can push us to that level offensively.
