    My for my own personal mental health, I am going to just assume Urias is our opening day 3B and be done with it. I have accepted it, and am moving on. Now to the bullpen.

    I'd rather just have them trade Burns now rather than wait another year and diminish our return. I think it is a foredrawn conclusion that there isn't a chance in hell we can resign Burnes. To be honest, same with Adames. We would be hurting without them, but to maximize return, the sooner the better.

    Cubs are getting better. Just signed Taillon. I know there are those who will dismiss every move they make, just like they do when the Cardinals make moves and get better, but every time they get a little better, they provide more of a thorn in our side.

    Rosenthal makes sense, especially since we should at least make an attempt to see if what we traded for might have been worth it. No clue on what he will cost though.

    This is the latest: Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic confirms that the Red Sox agreement with Justin Turner is for one-year and $15 million guaranteed. There had been conflicting reports as to the actual terms of the deal, but it sounds like Turner will get one year and $15 million if he does not exercise his player option for 2023 -- and two-years, $21.7 million in total if he exercises his option. Rosenthal also notes that Turner can earn up to an additional $1 million in incentives for plate appearances ($200,000 each for 480, 500, 520, 540 and 560) in 2023.

    Now I see this, which is it? According to Joon Lee and Jeff Passan of ESPN, the Red Sox have reached an agreement on a contract with free agent third baseman Justin Turner. Jon Heyman of the New York Post adds that it'll be a $14 million deal for the 2023 season with an $8 million player option for the 2024 season. Considering the Red Sox already have Rafael Devers entrenched at third base -- and Triston Casas ready to take over full-time at first base -- expect the 38-year-old to see the bulk of his playing time in the designated hitter slot in the lineup.

    Looks like Turner is signing with the Red Sox, 2 years, just under 22 million. We couldn't have done 2 years 23 or 24 million to lure him in? Who has a better shot at the playoffs, Boston or Milwaukee? He simply wants to play in a large market, which is fine, but frustrating.

    I'm mildly ok with rolling with Urias at 3B full time, and not jerking him around the infield at a different position every other day if that means we are going to go with Turang at 2B, and let the kid play. I have come to accept that we won't be able to pry Turner away from LA, even though I'm not 100% sold that he will be that great anyway. Urias isn't sexy, but hopefully he can get the job done, and if not, we can get something cooking at the trade deadline for a legit 3B.

    True, but we would never have been in on Omar at that price, so they really aren't related at all.

    YES - YES - YES! Better anyone else than the Brewers! I am so happy we are not signing this guy.

    Except I don't think that is going to happen. I think Yelich will still be our full time LF, and might DH 1 or 2 times per week max. I think Hiura is a goner, via trade. Doubt we get much in return, but I think they are going to send him packing. I think Winker was acquired as our normal DH, since he is a liability in the field. He may get occasional starts in the OF, but no way is that going to be a daily thing. As much as I want Hiura to be in the mix, if the plan is to use him like we did last year, there is no point in keeping him around. Trade him to a team that can afford to play him.

    Just to be clear, this amount doesn't surprise you, even a little tiny bit? I don't see one other person, on any other board including this one, that thought he'd get this kind of payday after his time in Milwaukee.

    I just hate that he went to the Cubs. He'll probably dominate us in 2023 as a Cub.
