  1. That happened to me once in high school. Middle of the summer, 90+ degrees at noon. During the first two innings, I thought I might pass out. My dad brought me ice water-soaked towels to wrap around my neck in the dugout. Fortunately, I pushed through and felt fine once I got to the third. Ended up pitching five of the seven innings because we were kicking ass and there was no reason to go more in that heat. Legend
  2. Probably a bad look and would piss off the players union if they release a guy due to injury when he is already out for the season (not taking a roster spot) and a free agent at year end. Plus it lets the player have access to your medical staff and the facilities for rehab.
  3. Yelich was 5th in MLB Jersey sales in 2019. https://www.mlb.com/news/top-20-mlb-player-jerseys-for-2019
  4. Bellinger is trending upwards though. Small sample but their last 7 games: Yeli: .048/.130/.048 Beli: .320/.370/.640 This isn't even comparable at all...there is a two week gap during Yelich's "last 7 games" Again, he clearly isn't the MVP Yelich the Brewer's thought they were extending, but he is a much better hitter then whatever recent sample size you want to pull. Let's give the guy time to get some consistent at bats, which he really hasn't had in over a month, in before we make any "hard decisions"
  5. I think we need to pump the breaks a little bit here. He has had 9 ABs since returning from Covid. He obviously has been disappointing this year but I'm willing to give him another week or two of seeing MLB pitching on a regular basis before we drop him to 9th in the lineup...
  6. I think the opposite, he hasn’t really had consistent at bats in awhile now. Hoping he will improve after a few consecutive games of ABs
  7. Earlier in the season when the offense looked like they might get no hit every night, I was pretty down on Garcia and even proposed attaching a prospect to him to try to make him more attractive to trade and get out of the contract. Really happy to eat crow on that, he has been great pretty much since I discussed that idea. Hoping JBJ is the next one to force us to reevaluate...his regular season line is probably cemented but nothing a few clutch postseason hits won't fix
  8. Is this so he can retire as a Brewer or is this a legit move? Also wondering how this "trade" works post deadline and no waiver deadline this year?
  9. Cubs and Rockies aren't going to hold onto Bryant and Story are they??
  10. Turang likely knocking on the door as Wong's contract is expiring. Middle infield looks to be in a good spot for the next few years
  11. I was actually thinking that too if it is true that Brewers are looking to offload his contract. I suppose anybody who is taking on that contract is probably doing it for the asset that comes with, or for whatever they are unloading, and it wouldn't make much difference if Cain was active or not.
  12. Have there been many rumors regarding Wil Myers? Could be an interesting addition...fits the versatility Stearns likes, can play 1B or 3B, control for next season, albeit, at a steep price. Padres looking to offload some salary so he probably wouldn't cost much and they may even attach a prospect or two. You are taking on $22.5m 2022 salary though and $1m buyout or $20m team option in 2023.
  13. His contract and the deferred money I think helps the Brewers chances. If the Brewers were to trade for him, I wonder if it makes Cain or JBJ a likely part of the package going back to the Nats just to slightly offset that.
  14. Yes…..some trades would definitely be cost prohibitive………the reason why the Brewers are in this situation now is because they refused to deal guys like Woodruff and Burnes a few years ago. Thank goodness they viewed dealing them as “cost prohibitive”. Need to quote this just to give a +1 to the response. The only reason this week would be maddening as a fan is because we naturally have a video game like GM mindset and not an actual GM mindset. I would love for the Brewers to land a guy like Story or Scherzer and create that "all-in" feeling, but I also trust the front office to make the move that is best for the Brewers organization. If the Brewers don't make a huge move this week, it certainly won't be because Stearns & co. are asleep at the wheel. BTW, those "puddle-jumper" moves haven't been too bad either...Moustakas, Lyles, Pomeranz, Soria etc. Any player along those lines would be a great addition to this club.
  15. Rendon 2019: 7.2 WAR. Rendon 2021: Angel Strasburg 2019: 5.8 WAR Strasburg 2021: Hurt/Ineffective Basically the same group minus 13 wins from the top of the roster. If people think Yelich deal is bad. Look at 31 year old Rendon….0.0 war player set to make $38 mil each of the next 5 years. 29 year old Yelich is a 1 war player this year and set to make $26 mil per year for the next 7 seasons. Yelich hasn’t been great. But thankful we aren’t missing as bad as some. The Angels inability to build around Trout and now Ohtani is something that does not get as much attention as it should. The Pujols contract turned into an all-time bad signing, and now Rendon looks to be heading down that path too. Pretty incredible that they have possibly the two best players in the sport and can't make the playoffs
  16. We don't know because none of them have played there, and more than likely will not this year either. Again, we don't know because none of them have played there, and more than likely will not this year either. https://www.mlb.com/news/trevor-story-rumors Turns out I'm not the only one who has had this thought.
  17. I agree that Adames is exactly the kind of guy they should be looking to extend now. Something like Peralta (in structure, not necessarily in $$) is what I'd be looking for, where we buy out arbitration and a couple years of free agency in the form of a couple team options. Obviously, the interest has to be mutual, and Adames has to be willing to sacrifice a little bit of money in the interests of long-term security. But if he is, I absolutely love these kinds of deals much more than significant decade long investments in outfielders who have already reached their prime. I don't understand how people rip the Yelich extension but then also want to rush to extend a player like Adames. The team extended an MVP caliber player not even a 2 years ago and that deal already looks like it might not be favorable, but now we should try to hurry up and extend a guy who has posted 2 months of good play?? Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love what Adames brings to this team and if his play so far as a Brewer is an indication of how he is going to play into the future, then hell, I would love for him to be a Brewer for life. But let's maybe have a little patience here before committing to anything long term. There were similar posts regarding Hiura in 2019 and I think we all are happy that didn't occur.
  18. Yeah...Cincy is a lot better within these threads then they are on paper or in person. Winning the division isn't easy, maybe they are providing a good reality check to fans that this team isn't going to run away with the division, but man do people act like they are some world beaters while forgetting that we have a pretty good squad over here too
  19. I've never been able to actually determine if the 'not within the division' stuff is actually true or just the feeling of us fans. Agreed, especially when a player is a short-term rental. Teams want the best deals for their rosters, and sometimes divisional foes offer those I'm not sure a deal to a rival within the division is possible for top tier players. Risks seem to high for both sides which would force the acquiring team to have to overpay way to much. Hypothetical example but say Brewers trade for KB. If we went on to win the World Series with him playing a lead role, Cubs would face an unreal amount of local backlash. On the flip side of that, a WS is obviously never guaranteed. If we traded for him at the cost of a prospect like Ashby or Small and they went on to be a TOR starter and we lost in the divisional round with KB who then left in FA, how would that trade look from the Crew's perspective as they now have to face this Ace 5 times a year for the forseeable future? These are obviously the two extreme outcomes, realistic outcome would probably fall somewhere inbetween, but the tail risk for both is a lot larger than just dealing him outside the division assuming offers are comparable.
  20. We don't know because none of them have played there, and more than likely will not this year either. Again, we don't know because none of them have played there, and more than likely will not this year either. Thank you for that. It’s a message board man you’re allowed to have some fun. Stearns has constantly shown he thinks outside the box, so as a fan its fun to try to theorize how he could be looking at upgrading the team. Oh and before you tell me how unrealistic it is go look up how many starts at 2B Mike Moustakas had before his Brewers career.
  21. Haven’t followed the Mets much this year but seeing Lindor hitting .220 with an OPS of .670. Maybe Yelich isn’t broken and the better explanation is it is just extremely hard to maintain MVP level play on a year to year basis unless you are an all time great like Trout. Seems like that might be the most logical reasoning and not a broken bone ruined his career theory...
  22. Statcast comparison is 2019 Keston Hiura....lol
  23. Looks like he has hit into a bit of bad luck this year...hitting just .209 but has an xBA of .251. Has an expected OPS of > .750 based on his balls in play.
  24. Story is the biggest needle moving bat on the market, and his salary coupled with his half a season of control might make him a more affordable acquisition (from a prospect perspective) than maybe is assumed. Rentals aren't going for the same top prospect type deals that they were a few years ago. Between Adames, Urias, and Story who could play the best 1B? Or who could play the best OF while somebody like Yelich, Garcia, or Taylor plays 1B?? Excited to see what type of creativity Stearns & co come up with to try to improve the lineup.
