  1. It literally doesn't matter at this point. We have clinched the division. The only thing they have to do is avoid injuries. Two questions: do you believe the team thinks it doesn’t matter? And if so, why are you and I even watching? Yes they do - hence why Woodruff was pulled with less than 70 pitches and why Adames isn't in the lineup. We're watching cause were Brewers fans (aka suckers) and we love this team even when the game means nothing Edit: Should have also added that we've seen enough crappy seasons from this team that when the great ones come around I don't wanna miss any of it
  2. The offer probably had to include some of our top tier prospects but JBJ + cash could have also been included. If Brewers were still paying a large chunk of that contract then could be a lot of low-risk upside for Pirates. If he starts to hit next year could flip him again and if not, doesn't matter because Brewers paying a large chunk and you aren't trying to win anyways.
  3. I think the Division is pretty much a foregone conclusion barring significant injury to multiple key guys. Not to poke the bear but I think even with Love and a healthy rest of the roster they would win it. The Lions just aren't good, the Bears are a trainwreck, and the Vikings will play competitively but haven't really been impressive at all and even at their best are still a tier below. This years Packers is very similar to last years Bucks team where the regular season results don't hold much weight anymore. It's about staying healthy and developing a versatile team that can win playing multiple different styles of football. Take your lumps now experimenting with different defenses, player packages, ways to attack different looks from Defenses etc so that come January your playing your best brand of football.
  4. Agreed with your comments regarding Peralta and wonder if that actually would favor him pitching out of the bullpen to fill the innings between the starter & Williams/Hader. If he comes from the pen, he could realistically pitch 2-3 innings in 3 of the 5 potential NLDS games. That would seem to be demoralizing for opposing offenses facing 5-6 innings from Woodruff & Burnes, followed by 2-3 from Peralta, then Williams and Hader shutting the door.
  5. I understand all of the numbers. Maybe you don’t understand the meaning of the word “literally”. It would be absolutely historic for the Brewers to lose the division after leading the Cardinals by 15 games with 22 to go. They have already blown half of it, and now they are physically and emotionally a mess. They need a win in the worst way to get back on track. Lol what?? Based on what? Have you listened to any interviews of the manager or players lately? The only people who are emotionally unstable right now are in this thread.
  6. Yeah, we're a bunch of weenies. This team has never collapsed before. What the heck are we thinking? And what, exactly, in this team right now shows you they are even remotely capable of "winning it"? We can't score runs. Our bullpen is floundering. Our "superstar" is hitting .181 in the month of September, OPSing a paltry .475. The Brewers have hit a very real mental block. The Cardinals are laughing at us, and they still have us for three at Busch. The Dodgers are licking their chops. If we don't come back here, that's 5 in a row we've lost. 6 of the last 9 come against the Cardinals and Dodgers in their houses. We could very easily go 3-11 to close the season. And you expect the team to just magically shake that off? I want this team to get their heads back in it. Right now, however, they show no signs that they're a team to be reckoned with in the playoffs. Cardinals definitely aren't laughing at us as they have the steepest of hills to STILL climb to catch us for the division. Neither the Dodgers or Giants are "licking their chops" as they both are dealing with the other and avoiding a wild card. Plus neither would see us until the NLCS. Braves and Phillies also aren't "licking their chops" as they are both fighting for their lives and only one will survive. This team is still in a great position. Their play the past week has sucked and if they don't get right then October may be short lived. But as far as where they are going to be come October, they are in a great spot.
  7. Proof? There were reports that Yelich initiated extension talks with the owner and its the type of thing this owner has done previously when giving Braun the second extension as well as his dealings with Suppan and Lohse. This contract extension would be totally out of character for Stearns but right in line with Attanassio and his thinking. Don't see any flaws with that mosaic. 100% to me.
  8. If we lose today, it really is not hard to come up with a scenario that the Cardinals enter the last series against us with control over their own destiny for the division. Not hard to come up with the scenario, but pretty hard for that scenario to actually play out. The Brewers need to pretty much lose out while the Cardinals win out. Additionally, the Mets team coming to town is playing for absolutely nothing and is playing worse baseball than the Brewers over the past week. The Brewers play the last week or so has been frustrating and not what you want to see heading into the post-season, but the sky isn't falling even if they lose this game.
  9. If Cain were to suffer an IL worthy injury then I believe they would have the ability to add somebody to the roster.
  10. I was just going to post the same thing. Taylor absolutely should be on the roster over JBJ especially with the lack of good righty bench bats. JBJ offers defense and baserunning but it's just not enough. If our CF was a liability it would be enough but we have Lorenzo Cain. JBJs bat is just too poor for the things he does well to make up for it. JBJ's only real value comes as a defensive replacement, that's the one thing he does better than anybody else (except maybe Cain). What worries me is if you bring him in late for presumably Yelich, if that late lead is blown, now you have JBJ taking big ABs instead of Yelich. Obviously Yelich has had his struggles but still that's not what you want. Sure you could then pinch hit for JBJ if that occurred, but now your back to square one.
  11. I'm used to having this option with MLB.tv but what I'm not used to is not knowing who is pitching/batting. Instead they have that fancy shift graphic which is cool but not as useful as having the pitcher/batter name on the screen. Wow is that an option for MLB.TV too?? Been using that all year and had no clue you could listen to radio broadcast while watching
  12. Pretty cool that you can synch the radio broadcast with the Youtube TV view. Fun listening to Uecker while watching on TV
  13. If the Brewers were still fighting for post-season positioning I'm pretty certain they would be riding their studs more. No need to with the way things currently stand. Not sure why some here refuse to understand that
  14. Same reason why Burnes was pulled after 8 innings of a no hitter. It's the same reason why Anderson started. And Its the same way theyve treated all guys post IL stint. Bigger picture in mind. Again, this game means a lot less for us. The division is as close to wrapped up as it can be. Brewers would have to basically lose out while the Cardinals win out - both are unlikely. Brewers aren't playing for their lives right now no matter how bad the last week has felt. This team is positioning to hit their stride in 2 weeks, not tonight or tomorrow or this weekend.
  15. Brewers aren't being "punked" at all this is the result of a team that has a lot less to play for right now. No reason at all to try to line up your stud pitchers to face the Cardinals at this point. This team needs to basically lose out in order to lose the division, and if they do that, that means they were playing bad enough baseball where it wasn't going to matter if they were starting Anderson twice in that stretch or not. Anderson has been serviceable enough this year where you don't expect him to give up 6 runs in 1 and 2/3rds innings. Obviously if they expected that they wouldn't have started him. Best case you get 4 solid innings out of him and are in the game, worst case is what happened tonight. Either way, your studs are still getting their rest and ready for the real games in 2 weeks.
  16. Anderson is starting because we're locked in to win the Division and he can atleast eat a few innings while giving the other starters an extra day of rest. Not that the Brewers are punting these games, but if the division lead was only a game or two I don't think Anderson would be taking the mound
  17. I'm going. Must win. Brewers owe me. They are 1-4 with me in the stands at AmFam, with a total of 5 runs scored. I was at least hoping for Ashby, and I get Anderson. If they lose tonight you aren't allowed at any post-season games
  18. Brewers offense starting to make me worry this team peaked too early. Hoping as Adames and Garcia get a few more ABs they settle in and provide a spark.
  19. I don't see why they couldn't set up the stage in the Deer District again...I know it's not right at the stadium but it would still be a good use of the space. Not sure if it was the Bucks or the City of Milwaukee who organized the Deer District watch parties. If it was the Bucks then I doubt they would want to organize/run the parties when they aren't playing. That is beside the point though. I was trying to say that I think the Bucks run has likely energized more of the casual fan base and could lead to an uptick in ticket demand.
  20. Is it crazy to think the Bucks run will positively impact the attendance for these games? As the Bucks advanced in the playoffs, being in the Deer District for each game became pretty much a must do for a lot of people--specifically the younger crowd. Brewers obviously don't have a similar watch party set up, but it's also easier/more affordable to get tickets. I think the fans who experienced the Deer District watch party saw how fun it was to be in that environment and will be looking to do something similar for this Brewers run, which will translate into attending Brewers playoff games.
  21. Campbell was actually decent last night I thought. They seemed to target him a lot and connect but none seemed to go for many yards, with the exception of the ridiculous throw/catch by Hockenson. I agree that the defense is still catching up to the scheme and I think there are going to continue to be growing pains over the next few weeks. We probably won't really know how good this D actually is until closer to mid-way through the season but there were some signs last night, specifically in the second half, that showed the unit can at least be solid. Stokes looked pretty solid and I think should overtake King as CB2. King was actually much better when he was playing in the slot so potential to see that more going forward. Preston Smith is looking more like the 2019 version than 2020 and Kenny Clark also had a pretty solid game. Wonder if next week we get to see Heflin active given I'm sure the 49ers are going to try to hammer the run. Tough expecting an UDFA to provide a huge boost to the team but still excited to see if he can provide anything after the reports out of camp about him.
  22. Tonight's game is all about the defense for me. The Lions offense doesn't provide a huge threat so most positive outcomes from the D will have to be taken lightly, but still hoping to see less breakdowns in coverage, more guys flying around the ball, and most importantly the ability to get off the field on 3rd downs - especially 3rd and longs. With a new coordinator and lack of pre-season reps, I fully expect it to take until mid-season for the unit to really come together, but tonight needs to be the start of progress being made. Watching the game last night I'm not sure how we would slow down either of those offenses. Fortunately & unfortunately, we're going to get to see it a few weeks down the road.
  23. Would be a helluva first impression from a new GM to come in and replace the winningest manager in team history, who is regarded as one of the top managers in the game, and is a local guy on top of it all.
  24. He struck out 11 while only giving up 3ER. He certainly labored more than usual but the headline numbers are still good and that matters for voters who aren’t watching each game
