  1. Football? Football true, but players CAN play both sides of the ball if they wanted to. Football and baseball are very different sports, but like I said, it's not forbidden. And guys do play both sides occassionally (see Charles Woodson). And in high school, MANY players play both sides of the ball. Every other position is required to play both sides expect a DH/AL Pitcher, how does that make any sense? Why not have someone just play shortstop and have someone else hit for them? That idea seems silly, but it's no different at all.
  2. The DH is just stupid in my opinion. In what other sport can you play just half of the game? Can a basketball player just play defense? Defense and offense are part of the game, allowing someone to do just one aspect of it has always been silly IMO. So I vote against it. What really bothers me is that it's not a universal MLB rule, that makes even less sense to me.
  3. I'd hold off...it's only been 2 games. League Pass will have another free preview around February and then offer a half season rate. At least they have every other year.
  4. I'm tired of them repeating the same guys over and over. And I wish they would stop neglecting everyone from the 90's. They're stuck on that 1982 team it seems, even though the've all been honored with a mini and a few with a full size already. Going with guys like Surhoff, Cirillo, Vaughn, Vena, etc would be much more exciting at this point I'd have to think.
  5. I'm happy to see young guys like Sanders and Udoh (and hopefully Henson when he's healthy) getting a lot more minutes than Dalembert and Gooden. It's only 2 games but they've looked a lot better so far. Actually somewhat fun to watch.
  6. The guy I would like is Kuroda, but I don't see him even mentioned anywhere. Is he that big of a lock to stay in NY? He seems like a good fit for a 2-3 year deal, been very good the last few years.
  7. I too will give Nyjer an awful lot of credit for how he handled this season. And while he wasn't very good, he was a very big part of the success of the 2011 team. And like Baldkin said, while he wasn't here very long, he did provide me with a moment that will forever be etched into my memory. Good luck to him wherever he winds up.
  8. I have many compliants about this list, but I'll wait until everyone knows all 10 before I starting moaning about it.
  9. I'd be interested in the list too if someone can send it to me. Thanks.
  10. Stables would sure be nice. I miss them, as long as they keep them in check...not 10 deep NWO style. They really haven't had one in quite awhile, but I miss the days of the orginal DX, The Nation of Domination, etc. I'm sure they'll find a way to screw it up though.
  11. 6 was too many, 10 is just getting borderline ridiculous. I've collected all of them from the start, but this might signal the end for me. I have no more room to display them, the quality of them has gotten worse and worse and they're just repeating guys. It's great to honor old guys, and that's fine, but cut it back to 2-3, make them higher quality and of players that people actually want. Not only that, but doing it on a day other than Sunday would be nice. We have the 20 game fans choice package and if I want all these, that's half the games right there...all on Sundays. I think more than a few last year didn't even sell out because people have grown tired of them. Why don't the Brewers realize this?
  12. How hard is it to hit a sac fly? Three straight innings they have a man on third one out and can't even hit a ball out of the infield. I know there is a reason they are so bad, but c'mon. These are major leaguers. Hit a sac fly already. Fiers sure throwing a lot of pitches here early. That's not good. 25 already through the first inning.
  13. So in this game...bases loaded first inning 1 out...K. Walk in a run, then an out. 6th inning...first and third, 1 out, double play 7th inning...bases loaded, 1 out, double play Way to hit those sac flies Houston, awesome. Glad to see we're back to running wild today too!
  14. Yeah, Houston is just flat out horrible. They ground into a DP with 1 out and men at the corners in the top half. Then walk the two guys in front of Beltran with 1 out in the bottom half and he promptly doubles them both home. About what we expected, I was just hoping the Astors could win a game. Makes today's game even more important to keep pace.
  15. I'm just hoping Houston can somehow take 2 of their remaining 4 games against the Cardinals. Though I'd really probably be happy with just 1. The Astros are just so terrible. we just gotta keep winning our own games.
  16. Houston will blow it, I just have no faith in them winning. They've held Hart out this entire time, I have to believe he's pretty healthy or they wouldn't put him out there. That being said, he hasn't seen live action in like 11 days, so he may be rusty.
  17. 3-3...at least the Astros sorta showed up. I just don't see them winning this game. I have a nervous feeling about our game too. It just feels like we can't lose at all right now.
  18. Two more wins would effectively bury the Pirates. Let's keep it rolling!!
  19. The Cardinals are playing poorly, but I still don't expect them to lose more than 2-3 times to the Astros/Cubs. I hope they do, but that seems like a longshot. We'll see I guess, maybe they can play that spoiler role. That requires them losing a minimum of 3 to the Nationals and Reds. Which is possible, but keep in mind those teams might not be playing for much or might be setting up their rotation for the playoffs so it's not a given that they will lose 3. I think the Brewers probably can't go any worse than 12-3, possibly 11-4 to have a realistic shot.
  20. It really would have been ideal for the Dodgers to win last night, as their schedule is just so much harder than the Cardinals. It also would have been ideal to not have a roadtrip against the top 2 teams in the NL right now, but that's how it goes. I still think realistically, we have to win a minimum of 6 games this trip to have a chance, but really i think it's probably close to 7 or 8. If we're within 2 going into that last homestand, I think we'll have a shot. A small one, but a shot.
  21. Pirates just lost to the Cubs...win tonight and we're ahead of them. Gotta really keep it rolling here these next 6 home games!
  22. Dodgers and Cardinals tied, at least we'll gain .5 on one of them. I guess we could use the Dodgers winning tonight, as it would shrink our deficeit to 2.5 games...it would also create a tie between the two. Ideally they can somehow split the 4 games or have the Dodgers win 3 of 4, the Dodgers have a much tougher schedule going forward.
  23. There is a thread discussing playoff eligibility, but yes. IF Rogers goes on the DL (or any other pitcher), he can be replaced by someone that wasn't on the roster on September 1, like Peralta.
  24. Sorry..have to disagree. You always have to focus on the team that currently holds the prize. Catching Pittsburgh gets you nothing. If St. Louis and Pittsburgh were playing each other today, you would want Pittsburgh to win. You want that game's behind number to continue to shrink. Today, I want LA to beat St. Louis. And yes, I do agree that for now, we want LA to beat the Dodgers. I understand what you're saying, and I don't disagree but what I'm saying is that it makes no sense to worry about the Cardinals yet as if we can't pass Pittsburgh it doesn't matter. Obviously what the Cardinals do is important, but we can't leapfrog three teams at the same time, so just focusing catching and passing the team immediately in front of you. Of course, gaining on the Cardinals is great, but focusing solely on them with other teams in between us seems silly.
