    Come on now! Devastated. He's looked really good since joining the team. I'll have to watch later tonight. Big sigh.

    After last night's 4-2 loss, the T-Rats will try to even their series at 2-2. They'll look to RHP Ryan Birchard to hopefully give a decent amount of innings after yesterday's bullpen extravaganza. 3B Jadher Areinamo jumps to lead-off while CF Luis Lara is batting third. DH Ramón Rodríguez will try to keep swinging a hot bat.

    RHP K.C. Hunt may need to be flawless given how the already challenged Shuckers bats support his efforts. Let's hope for a twist of fate and an offensive outburst! Welcome back to the line-up Dylan O'Rae. It's definitely noteworthy 3B Brock Wilken is absent after being mysteriously pulled for a PH in the 9th last night - he was nowhere to be seen and wasn't in the dugout. Hopefully, he's OK.

    Yup. Been speaking to this for the past three weeks. I've said it tongue and cheek at times given how utterly challenged he was out of the Pen. BUT, he does have a historicity as a Starter. It's been a wild August. I'll call it the "Ashby Effect". I mean, three out of four starts have been absolutely fantastic. Given the nature of the Sounds starting staff, to boot, it is extremely eye-popping and noticeable.

    I wondered the same. Tho, Jim doesn't have him listed HERE. I am wondering aloud if he doesn't have a bit of a braggadocio, so to speak, that rubs the coaching staff the wrong way from time to time. He has been pulled a couple times in games this season after what appeared to be possible lazy efforts out of the batters box. This is complete speculation on my part.

    I mean, he's really a luxury. Especially at the bottom of the order. They Lynchburg announcers have spoken to it on a couple occasions. You make it through the power bats etc and then suddenly you are facing a 7 hitter who is extremely adept at getting on base and then causing havoc. A 0.291 hitter with 61 SB in the seven spot is a really challenging obstacle for opposing pitching staffs. In the very least, he'll start next year at High-A Wisconsin I would imagine. When he is not in that Mudcats line-up his absence is absolutely felt. He's just entirely underrated in terms of how he impacts the overall end result. He also has very good range in the OF grass. Anywho, I continue to appreciate what he brings.

    Garcia trails only the Biscuits' Chandler Simpson (63 SB) who is absolutely running roughshod on the Shuckers pitching staff and C's Darrien Miller and Nick Kahle. Simpson swiped 4 bags on Miller last night. I continue to be mildly surprised by the overall lack of excitement for Garcia's season. He absolutely has true lead-off hitter upside. I also continue to be surprised he isn't used there, really, in any fashion by manager Nick Stanley. The Brewers agenda in Carolina is clearly giving 18-year-old blue chipper Yophery Rodriguez the vast majority of those lead-off AB's.

    I continue to ask myself: How is this Shuckers team leading a second half playoff push? These bats are painful. Just painful AB's. This is a really offensively challenged division of Double-A baseball.

    It's, ummmm, very very weird. I really hope Wilken is simply dealing with a bruised ego. An injury to Wilken would be pretty devastating overall. He's not even in the dugout. Meanwhile, Kahle joins the "Flail at any outside slider' Shuckers bats. If I'm a pitcher? I'm just setting those outside sweepers all night.

    Miller swings at a high heater well above the zone and pops up weakly to 3B. Sigh. This is the Shuckers offense. Hopefully Wilken is only dealing with a bruised ego. Obviously, pulling Wilken for Kahle is concerning.

    Goodness I have seen several Shucker bats flail at sliders they have no business swinging at tonight. Sparks flails and K's at a 2-2 slider low, away, and in the dirt. Darrien Miller with the chance to do something. AND, it looks like Brock Wilken is being pulled for Nick Kahle?! LOL. My goodness. What a time.

    LHP Russell Smith is having a rough August. More runs in this outing. He allowed a two out insurance run for the Biscuits in the 9th. A 6-4 game is now 7-4. And, yet, the Shuckers are within striking distance again. A Zavi Warren walk. A Casey Martin squibber special past the mound causing confusion with the 1B cover and he beat it out regardless. Men on 1st and 2nd. 0 outs. BIG moment for tonight's lead-off man CF Lamar Sparks.

    C Darrien Miller (Clancy's 'Must Roster' candidate 😅) has allowed 6 more SB tonight. He has thrown out 2. On the season he's caught 26-of-150 SB attempts. Improved? Yes. Sub-par? Very much still a yes.

    Ben Metzinger as your bench option replacement for Adam Hall is a tough tough situation for manager Fidel Pena. He's essentially spent his entire season on the Development List or as a bullpen catcher. With Dylan O'Rae clearly still shelved with an unknown hip malady, Metzinger is his sole OF sub option. He's very very much looked like a guy who has taken, what 3 total AB in 2024? A really tough hand dealt to a fill-in manager in a playoff chase. Metzinger strikes out for the 2nd time in 2AB with runners on the corners and two out in the bottom of the 8th. I didn't see what happened to Hall. BUT, if he's down that's a big loss to a very thin OF group in Biloxi at present.

    Ahhhhh ye ol' 2024 Drone Delay in Biloxi. Ernesto Martinez follows with an 0-2 liner to the LF wall past the sliding LF'er. Two runs cross. It's suddenly 5-4 Biscuits. We have a ball game in the bottom of the 6th. A casual 106 mph dart to the LF wall.

    Shuckers tied it 2-2 in the bottom of the 4th. RHP Kaleb Bowman proceeded to give up a three-run jack in the top of the 5th. Wooof. Shuckers trail 5-2.

    Scanning the International League scoreboard... Since joining on as a regular for the Louisville Bats, OF Joey Wiemer is hitting a woeful 0.164 in August. 0.484 OPS 😬 in 61 AB. 1 2B. 1 3B. 0 HR. 22 K. 9 BB. 6 R. 1 RBI. Yikes.
