    All I am going to say is Pena and Made are ridunkulous. My goodness. Crew Uno come back to take a 7-6 lead after trailing 6-1. Crew Dos leading 12-3. Broca allowed 2 runs in 2 IP for the Dos BUT he also K'd 6! Whewwww.

    Hello RHP Jesus Flores! 5 IP, 3 H, 2 BB, 1 ER, 9 K for the DSL Cerveceros Dos. Offense also having a day. They lead 9-1 top of 6th. Everyone but 9-hitter INF (2B) 17-year-old Moises Polanco with a knock. There are many an intriguing storyline going on in both DSL squads at present. Let's use an oldy but a goody: 'Tickled pink!' at these ongoing developments. I say...I say

    1/2 inning played for the DSL Brewers Uno. Pena already has a knock, a run, and a stolen base. SHEEEEEESH. Crew lead 1-0. CF Engel Paulino knocked him across via a single to SS.

    Staying in the Atlantic League for a brief moment: Recent Mudcats and T-Rats hurler RHP Miguel Guerrero, released by Wisconsin in late April, has been scooped up (5/2) by the Long Island Ducks. He has appeared in 9 G totaling 10 1/3 IP allowing 8 H with 13 K and 10 BB. He is sporting a very Guerrero-like 6.96 ERA. Hopefully, he can find the runway and take-off. (Sidebar: Interestingly, Jackie Bradley Jr. is on the Long Island Disabled List. Huh) One-time highly-touted Brewers hopeful, INF Jake Gatewood, is a core member of first place (South Division) Gastonia Baseball Club's infield. Winners of 6 straight (not to be confused with North Division's second-place Lancaster Stormer's 13 G winning streak 😯), Gatewood has appeared in 37-of-41 Gastonia tilts. Through 127 AB's, he has 34 H, 5 2B, 11 HR, 30 R, 29 RBI, 28 K, 21 BB, and 5 SB while hitting 0.268 with a 0.944 OPS. Heck of a season so far for Gatewood!

    Ol' Shucker farmhand, uber-talented RHP Zach Vennaro, was just picked up by the second place (South Division) High Point Rollers of the Atlantic League (6/8). Anyone who watched Vennarro knows: he has talent for days he simply lacks the fine-tuning of his mechanics and arsenal. He has already appeared in 1 G pitching a scoreless, hitless, walkless, 1 K inning in relief during their 6-0 victory over Staten Island. Best of luck to Mr. Vennarro as he aims to get back to affiliated ball. Who was in that Staten Island line-up? None other than former Brewers and Padres farmhand, INF/OF Korry Howell who was apparently released a day later. This same FerryHawks roster also has ol' Brewer farmhands RHP's Robbie Baker and Nate Griep (!!) in their pitching stables. Baker has 6 SV on the season and a 3.46 ERA in 15 G / 13 IP / 13 K / 4 BB. Good work, Mr. Baker!

    Can we just take ONE moment to acknowledge what Yoho says in this interview?!? Last year was his first year pitching. Uh huh. He developed his change-up - an elite ELITE ELITE pitch - over a single 2022 summer with his dad throwing to a towel on a fence. My. Baseball. Gods.

    I have to say, your post really got my juices flowing. As perhaps the biggest Yoho Stan on this here site (I know. I know. There are many in the Yoho Tribe. Fear not, I know you are all worthy), this drove me to dig deeper. I went straight to yesterday's relief work. This camera angle opened things on first contact in the 8th frame. Here's the thing...if we dig deeper. Then justttttt a little bit deeper. Well, the revelation appears. It shook me. Not gonna lie.

    Really happy for Max. And reallllllllly sad we couldn't enjoy that type of breakout for a Brewers affiliate. Grateful he is healthy amd absolutely slinging it. Phillies see him as a future Closer for them.

    You know you are walking in the deep weeds when your top 'scouting' report is: "German. Appeared several times in a promotional video. Tall." I think it is fair to say: We know nothing at this time other than what we may glean in the DSL.

    Key plays in that T-Rats game were defensive plays - despite the clutch deliveries at the dish (which were also obviously quite nice). Wood's key grab and lunging tag at home plate in a bases loaded scenario in the fourth - quite an agile play there. Crucial. Vargas' savvy and adept decision to relay to Adams standing in the third baseline running path as a key relay throw in the 9th. It would be quite easy for a LF'er to feel antsy and go for more than he should at home plate with his pitcher (Root) struggling mightily yet again. But, Vargas makes the smart play and fires to Adams who cuts off the runner and gets him in a run down back to second to apply the tag. Those two plays were huge in allowing chance for victory. This team just shows time and time again the ability to make the plays needed to scratch and claw their ways to wins. So enjoyable to watch.

    Carolina plays suddenly fading Fredericksburg - who only a series ago it feels was a mere 1.0 G back. They've fallen to 3 games over - tho, imho, still very dangerous. Muddies then play at a Columbia team who is now 5 games over and in 2nd place in their division - they'll have those two make-ups from earlier rain outs. SO, to that end, I think the Mudcats have 11 games remaining. I would like to think they could seal the first half with series splits BUT I also know I've seen the Mudcats come into late first half scenarios in tight races and get swept. I am fragile, Jim. A fragile fan. 😅

    T-Rats Full Game Highlights package begins with an Areinamo walk?!? Be still my heart. You think Chris Mehring is excited to see a potential first half Division Title? The first of any kind for the T-Rats since 2012? Maybe just a little? His calls have been so fun this season. You love the passion!

    It is never every clear, is it?! Like I can never find explicit info unless I reach out directly to each club. Needless to say, it would appear the series taking place third week of June. OR, another way of saying it: I believe they each have roughly two more series to close the first half. Well, scratch that, the T-Rats only have 9 games remaining. SO, would that mean the first half ends mid-way through their series next week? It would appear so. The main difference, then, is Carolina will have two double-headers with a much better Columbia team (than their original series, at least) to make up for their two postponements earlier this season. SO, Carolina has 11 games (?). Spitballing here. I know the T-Rats have 9 to play and their 'magic number' is 6.

    The four full-season affiliates are now a combined 25 games over 0.500. Nice bounce back series for the Shuckers, Muddies and T-Rats both 15 games over and in first place. Sounds now 5 games over trailing Omaha by a mere 9.5 G 😁.

    It's another classic RHP Jesion Pena show going on in the 9th frame. 1 H, 2 BB, 1 WP, 1 ER. He leaves with the bases juiced and only grabbing one out via K. Pitching a grand total of 1/3 IP. Stanley has brought on RHP Christofher Carrasco to try his best to eliminate this threat. Yikes.

    They've intentionally walked Wood to load the bases. Hall sac flies to LF to score O'Rae. This team is amazing. They have so much GRIT. 6-5 W.

    Hard not to be impressed with the make-up, priorities, and approach of just 22 years old, Alexander Cornielle. Validating why several of us here still found him to be the gem of that 2022 call-up pool from Carolina. Nice to see, beyond the actual pitching, he has all the developing mental/emotional tools to succeed as he climbs the ladder. Thanks for sharing this, Seth!

    Getting Garcia back these past two games after that HBP off his glove hand earlier in the series is BIG. With Baez down, Garcia acts as a stabilizing force in their line-up. He's truly had a fantastic first half. Really happy to see him play in back-to-back contests.
