  1. Hicklen now hitting 0.318 with a 1.004 OPS. Tied for 1st place in SB across the entire International League. Third in OPS amongst players over 100 AB's. AND, yet, given the nature of negative regression across the Brewers offensive lineup the Brewers felt it was a good idea to promote Wiemer when they did. I don't care how you try to explain it to me, it didn't make sense. It never made sense. It still doesn't make sense. Guys who deserve their opportunities deserve them. It's that simple. Wiemer absolutely did not.
  2. Goodness gracious, Ashby 7 BB and 2 HR in 3 1/3 IP. Whewwwww. What. A. Rollercoaster his recovery road is. Sigh.
  3. In the fwiw department, Andy Herman attended the entire minicamp. And, we all know this is not an apples-to-apples thing re: Training Camp or pads etc., but he was pretty clear on a couple of things: 1) This was the most competitive high-speed post-draft rookie minicamp he'a seen since covering these (6 years). 2 S Evan Williams and LB Ty'ron Hopper absolutely showcased consistent qualities throughout that led him to immediately opine (paraphrasing) it is abundantly obvious why the Packers took them where they took them. He came in with questions. He left quite confident and very pleasantly surprised.
  4. It isn't all doom and gloom for that underperforming Shuckers team. Wilken rehabbing with the ACL and now EBJ was back leading off as a DH today. That's a big return. Let's hope we start seeing some positive regressions!
  5. OF Brewer Hicklen just added two key insurance runs on a two-run jack to CF scoring Owen Miller. 6-3 Sounds in the 8th.
  6. Man, that Biloxi offense continues to be embarrassingly bad. They are a very tough watch right now.
  7. A lead-off double off the bat of OF Luis Lara. A throwing error allowing O'Rae to take 2B and Lara to cross home. And, a single from INF Jadher Areinamo scoring O'Rae from 2B have the T-Rats up 2-0 headed to the 2nd frame. RHP Edwin Jimenez looks to stay on track to get his season back on track had a scoreless 1 H, 2 K 1st frame.
  8. Well, that stinks about the Muddies! Last season a postponement versus Down East was never made up and it actually really impacted their first half playoff push. Hopefully, no such concerns exist in 2024!
  9. There's nothing abundantly obvious whatsoever in the live action. For some reason he led off with a bunt (I never like this approach when a guy is red hot). He tried to leg it out but was thrown out easily. Perhaps he tweaked something there? He chased down a deep fly to dead CF for the last out of the 1st inning and that was the last we saw of him. No leg grabs. Maybe he's trotting gingerly after the grab? That's a stretch. BUT, obviously. he could have tweaked something muscularly to the point of pulling himself. Or something entirely different.
  10. Special Shout Out: To one RHP Blake Holub for righting his leaky vessell and pitching his best 1 2/3rd innings as a 2024 Sound. Just went back and watched his work. By FAR and away his best bullpen stint of the season. Finally managed to harness his relatively violent motion into impactful movement near the zone. I am very happy to say 'Really good stuff!':
  11. Well how about that: And, apparently Stanley's big Friday is rewarded: The other player apparently disrupting all sorts of plays was FIU's IDL Jack Daly. I believe he was also invited to the Bills rookie minicamp. And, it would appear, according to Bill Huber, the Packers also signed OL Lecitus Smith (2022 Cardinals 6th Rdr) after his Minicamp Tryout.
  12. LOVE these Tyler Black takes after 15 MLB AB's. Choice.
  13. Broken big toe. In a walking boot. Could be worse!
  14. Thanks for the updates, gents! I am getting my big toe X-Ray'd after I fell down the stairs😅 The Brewers Minor League injury bug has carried over to even its most devout fans!
  15. You and I both know: that is definitively not saying a lot.😅
  16. Too talented a player to go to depths this low. Time to resurface! Let's GO!
  17. I mean Couns actually did me a solid. I didn't think there was a way on god's green Earth I could enjoy beating the Cubs more than I have my entire life...BUT, here I am middle-aged and I've somehow 'Up-Leveled' in one off-season! It's glorious.
  18. These early records and marks validate the sentiments the Brewers system aficionados suspected coming into 2024: the greatest wealth of talent in the system is in the lowest levels. We haven't even seen the ACL or DSL squads and what might be in store in the partial season clubs. It's a great time to be a Brewers nerd!
  19. I find it absolutely unsurprising three of my most surprising 2024 season's to date come from last year's Mudcats squad. I said it coming into this season: the deepest pool of talent in the system starts at Low-A and the lottery tickets on the ACL and DSL teams. Yujanyer Herrera, Eduarqui Fernandez, and Gregory Barrios have truly risen to another level of play and productivity through one month of ball. Is it sustainable? Can they take it to even higher heights? Who will join them? ACL ball starts Saturday. I'm chomping at the bit to scour those Game Logs!
  20. This Shuckers season, hovering just above 0.500, is all about their bats. Can they collectively wake up? Boeve has brought the same mash to Biloxi that he brought from Wisconsin. It appears to be rubbing off on Cargo and Ernesto Martinez Jr. in this series. And, now Dirden is finding production at the dish. Miller has been a pleasant surprise, honestly, and I don't think it's fair to expect more as he's handling the lionshare of the duties behind the plate. However, with Wilken obivously unavailable and Wes Clarke still sidelined with his malady(ies) and EBJ likely injured well beyond a 7-Day IL stint (heck, with five rotational players sidelined on the IL!), they absolutely need just a little bit more from Zamora and something (anything) from Murray, Warren, and Sparks. Murray, followed by Sparks, in particular are the two most disappointing Shuckers seasons to date. We're on to the second month. Let's hope we see them turn a corner. Sparks, in particular, just seems to be playing an entirely different brand of baseball in 2024 - his defense, his calling card last season, has actually been a net negative. Way too many misplays, misreads, and failed moments.
  21. He's definitely hit on some things and he's definitely missed on some others. Regardless of how the fire Bud and coaching hire quagmire actually went down, the Buck probably has to stop at him. That Stotts scenario? Yeah. They are paying 3 HC salaries. AND they are precariously close to the 2nd Apron (I believe getting bounced prevented Middleton salary kickers so they fell back under?) with very very little future assets. Thankfully they some draft capital to work with this season. AND, I fear he'll trade it again for a weak return. Anyhow, I'm completely ambivalent if he stays or goes. I just think he's a middle-of-the-road basketball mind.
  22. This Bucks season ending is for the best. Boy trading 5 2nd Rd picks for Crowder was a big Horst gaffe. I think it is quite obvious from here: - Let Beasley and Crowder walk - Absolutely resign Pat Bev (for crying out loud they better do this) - Try to pkg BroLo and/or Bobby with their 2024 Draft Capital for aomething better and younger - IF that is possible. - Fill roster w quality Vet Mins I don't really care if Horst stays or goes. I saw Detroit might be a possibility. If Bud was expendable, Horst absolutely is. Anyhow, this season was brutal. And we'll always remember Game 5.
