  1. AND, we've lost the video feed yet again. This is painful. Back to the radio feed we go. It would appear Ashby lost a slider on the pay-off 3-2 pitch. Walked the first batter?
  2. Man, does Holland (St. Paul Saints) have an absolute cannon from SS. He can really rip it. Wiemer lines out to LF to end the 3rd on a slight jam shot on an inside off-speed offering. We're on to the 4th. This game is moving fast because, well, there's no real offense to speak of. 0-0.
  3. He may be shaking off rust. And, his velo certainly isn't where we'd like it to be but Ashby is fighting through it and has 3 scoreless 4 K innings. His change-up is really showing out with aplomb. He is learning the art of the Mix with his patented sinker not having the life it once had currently. Also, this just in: Tyler Black has made two nice grabs at 1B. You love to see it. He just expertly scooped a quick scoop and throw from Kahle in front of home plate on a bang-bang play to get the dangerous Miranda out by a couple of footsteps. 0-0 and we are on to the Sounds bottom half.
  4. Well, the Sound is still messed on the video feed. There's a one-two pitch delay video-to-radio (radio is ahead) BUT we do have video. 😅 Ashby goes 1-2-3. I'm still very much seeing a pitcher recovering from a shoulder injury. I have no video confirmations on speed in the scoreboard box (not surprising given this nightmare feed so far) but I am just seeing rust and middling velo by the naked eye.
  5. Black hits into a force out at 2B but legs out 1B and is now aboard. Two down. Miller to the dish. We are still on the radio call only. I mean, it's fairly surreal to have an entire off-season of preparations. You have your inaugural knock at Nashville. AND, your sound is messed to begin things and then you completely cut your feed after 2 AB's? I'd expect this in Down East for their inaugural video season. In Nashville? Absolutely not.
  6. Wiemer ripped a liner 111 mph - a low screamer - off the diving SS's glove into the OF grass. Single.
  7. Yeah we have zero video in Nashville after 2 AB's. Lovely. 😅 Come on, Nashville. Let's get this together. This is your Home Opener for crying out loud.
  8. Ummmm...also video issues. Game One and we are officially back in Minor League baseball land. LOL. It would 'appear' Ashby escaped. We are in commercial on the radio call.
  9. Sound is completely messed early in Nashville. VERY low decibel level. Techno glitches right off the bat. Ashby gives up a single on an off-speed delivery to RF. Then a stolen base. Hernandez makes a nice play up the middle to grab the out at 1B. Two down. AND there is a random cut away. I am surmising their feed is all wonky. Classic.
  10. We get our first surprise (for me) of the 2024 Sounds season with Nick Kahle keeping the Catching role in tonight's opening game with Eric Haase starting in RF (contrary to the lineup card submitted online).
  11. That moment you enter your Log In info on MiLB.TV with slight trepidation only to quickly realize you've auto-renewed...for the 7th consecutive season. My labor of Love begins tonight. I am ready. SO ready to hear Jeff Hem's wonderful call.
  12. Time to get ready to watch the Sounds Home Opener. Ashby toes the rubber tonight.
  13. We'll take it! Ugly Win counts in the same column. Great D after that rough 7th.
  14. Pitch Comms brought to you by the same outfit running the parking scene? 🥸
  15. OK. I can't help but giggle nearly ever time I see Turang holding that bat. LOL.
  16. Man we are seeing highlight reel defensive work at 1B today. Sheesh. What a pick by Santana there.
  17. Great. I'm not complaining today. I know the historicity. Evidence isn't there historically but bat-to-ball contact produced elite exit velocity in the second half of last year. I know what the Brewers are banking on here despite stat pulls we want to throw around. I get it. I'm just not complaining today (or, well, mostly).
  18. So, to the Bauers critics: In this game he has a very well hit line out. A crucial scoop at 1B. And now a four pitch BB. I'm not complaining one bit today.
  19. That was a very important scoop by Bauers there. That was not an easy play. Adames nearly completely blew that inning.
  20. Well this inning isn't fun! LOL. Come on lads hold it to one please.
  21. He's streaky. For as good as he can be bat-to-ball, he absolutely goes through prolonged streaks of ineffective contact. He did it at Nashville. He did it with Milwaukee. But, man, when he gets hot...look out.
  22. Alcala has a really nasty slider. Sheesh.
  23. Yeah, until he gets his stick going again it is a sensible move. He'll get out of this - he's too good a contact hitter not to. His timing is just off.
  24. Frelick is just not seeing the bat-to-ball well at present. He is missing very hittable pitches. Hopefully, he gets it going. He has certainly gone through periods like this before.
  25. Heck of an AB by 'Turang-a-Tang'. Way to take those last two pitches. His redemption tour continues strong.
