  1. But, technically, wasn't he reading or looking and reading? (BT Dubs this is just a bad Dad joke. I couldn't resist.)
  2. I am crushed by the Shears news. So much of that peripheral data in the walks department relates to umps not knowing how to call his splitter and the catchers not quite knowing how to catch it. He is filthy. This was a big developmental year. Let's hope for an impeccable recovery and he returns even stronger. <insert BIG sad face on this Fanatic>
  3. On the other hand, getting the Minor League season going with a classic Jim Goulart Minor League report?
  4. Well hard to fathom a more depressing start to my Minor League season. First Quero (prayer hands still flying high) BUT now Shears - a known favorite of mine - with TJ?!?
  5. One more follow up to the slide. This lip reading (NSFW) is impeccably done and hilarious:
  6. Thanks for all the updates, Daniel! Very much appreciated.
  7. Oh man just saw that clip of Quero. I am officially scared; nervous; heartbroken. Please baseball gods if you can hear me: let it be a shocking stinger or a bruise or a jammed shoulder. PLEASE.🥹
  8. Quero injured? Good grief. Let's hope hope hope he is Ok! UGH.
  9. Saw the score. Saw the Box Score (en route to a Date night getaway - WUT?!?) I thought only one thing. One line. One ethos. Let's GO!
  10. I can't argue with the fact they absolutely look old and tired. A regular season grind is obviously not ideal for such a scene. Could they get hot in the post-season? Sure. That's possible. I can absolutely see a first or second round exit just as much as I could see an improbable run to the ECF or Championship round. I think the most amazing part of this season, outside the obvious blown coaching hire, was at every corner the Bucks personnel staff willingly chose to get older. At every turn. Thankfully, they have something in the youth cupboard. But, man, when Giannis' first FG attempt in a final quarter is with 28 seconds left...I don't even know. 😅
  11. In true fashion, this old crotchety farm hand completely forgot he has a date night getaway with his wife. She booked a place 'on the river' as it twere for an overnight escapade. I think I forgot because, well, I essentially never leave my farm. LOL. I guess I'll be reading through the game thread later in the evening, checking the box score, and then attempting to tune in early and often on Saturday. 😅 Here's hoping the men come out ready to go. Enjoy the game y'all. Brewers baseball is back!
  12. Absolutely torn up for Couns, the Cubs, and the Cubs faithful. Tough tough 'L'.
  13. Boy, the possible impending loss of Pat Bev looms pretty large for this up-and-down Bucks team. If he has to go under the knife and miss the remainder of the season that's a big hit to the defensive rotation; the leadership; and the fire department. It just always feels like the Bucks are snakebitten and this season absolutely feels no different. I hope I'm wrong!
  14. Move TE continues to be a sneaky 'need' for the Packers. I said this in my draft thinking previously and this was before Deguara departing for Jax. I continue to feel they grab an H-Back type prospect somewhere in the first 5 rounds.
  15. I have to say: I don't understand this all that much. Shuckers already have 3 catchers rostered and they have Martinez and Warren to cover 1B. Whereas, Nashville currently only has two Catchers and, well, they don't have a single true 1B rostered. What's the thinking here? (I ask to the void) IF I were the Brewers, I'd maximize the opportunity to build on Clarke's immense momentum built since last summer and see where the ride takes us. Sending him back to the Southern League? It just, well, it just seems a bit silly. Then again, I am not privy to any of the intimate conversations about player path etc. so will defer and give it the benefit of the doubt to play out.
  16. (Very) Hopefully this is just precautionary to get him further healed up from last year's injury and getting more legs under him. Let's just imagine a world where Perez does not surpass 60 days, comes back healthy and hungry, and hits the ground running. He showed decent glimpses last season. IF he can get healthy there is still a lot of good ball in this young man.
  17. Opening weekend in Toledo and we'll get to say a warm 'Hello' to our ol' friend Keston Hiura. Let's get the party started right! I'll be tuning in early and often in the game thread. This first week is so joyous getting to focus in solely on the Sounds. Hopefully we start the season out strong and healthy.
  18. I still believe Wiemer stays down to contunue proving and working on his modified swing. I think the smartest route to take here is give Ortiz the chance to be the everyday 3B. Move Frelick back to OF. in a platoon with Perkins with the occasional fill-in for Ortiz at 3B. They can absorb this injury. As to the long-term view on Mitchell...he is certainly developing a reputation of consistently being unavailable in his early career. This type of fracture could be a fluke...it could be an unfortunate byproduct of his medical condition. I wish him a speedy recovery and a chance to get back out there to showcase his talents.
  19. I like Quinyon Mitchell a lot. There's no way I do that trade. I think last year's Jayden Reed; Dontayvion Wicks; Karl Brooks haul would give quite a bit mote credence to the idea of accumulating as many Top 100 picks as they can - ie trading back - en lieu of trading up and giving away all that capital. I personally don't really care what the charts say.
  20. INF/DH/sometimes LF Keston Hiura was also left off Detroit's Opening Day roster. They are hoping he sticks and carves a role as Toledo's starting 1B. They will have to wait and see, however, due to a clause in his Minor League contract: Full article HERE. Perhaps, we'll see him when the Sounds open vs Toledo this Friday? Stay tuned!
  21. Just so we are on the Level. We know the Bucks have been a relative 10 seed train wreck on the road this season. BUT, at Home? They have absolutely smashed the East #1, the West #1, and the former NBA Champs. They can play with anybody on any night. When the vets are motivated and balling out on D, they are an extremely tough out. 3.0 G lead opened up on the Cavs for the #2 seed after tonight's throttling of the Thunder. Still looking like they will have a pesky first round match-up with either Miami (ugh - lol), Philly (possibly with a healthy Embiid), and/or Indy.
  22. BIG season for TJ. I am personally hoping for strides in the in zone consistency, health, and continued growth. I continue to absolutely see MLB caliber stuff in his arsenal and in his build. Like many a young arm, he just needs innings; exposure to situations; health; and a continued commitment.to the grind.
  23. Gotta feel good about this Sweet 16 matchup regardless of how NC State has been rolling. This is an incredible opportunity to get to the Elite 8. Love it for Marquette and the Marquette faithful. Love it for Shaka Smart and his team.
