  1. It was a first pitch. Off speed. High and just outside. JUST over the right CF fence. Ugh.
  2. Er mmerrrr gerrrrrd, Alex Hall just ripped a two-run go-ahead HR in the top of the 9th. LET'S GO! Let me take a moment to set the scene here: Darrien Miller ripped a hard 3-2 grounder and the Loons' 1B made a fantastic diving stab. One down. Metzinger went down looking at a heater at the knees. Gotta swing there. 2 down. Eduardo Garcia was down 0-2 in the count...he fought off an off-speed pitch to keep the count alive. He smacks a single into mid-CF on the very next high heater. Third pitch. Just after a pick-off attempt to 1B. He smashed an absolute no-doubter to deep LF. Oh sweet baby.
  3. Putting Hiura's bat in an ACL rehab outing is a wee unfair. LOL. 2-for-2. RBI 2B and RBI 1B.
  4. He absolutely has that 'IT' factor you can not teach. He is so confident and sure of himself in every facet. Wayyyyyyy beyond his years in presence and poise. An incredibly fun story to 2023.
  5. He wasn't very good in Wisconsin...ever, really, unfortunately. He came into this season in much better condition - looking trim and lean after becoming a new father last year (?). And, well, as you say here: it's hard to know what they do with him now. He'll get more leash given his draft position (as that silly game goes). BUT, the same issues that plagued him last year are plaguing him in 2023. Personally, I felt the promotion was jumping the gun and probably strictly due to where they drafted him. I didn't think it was warranted given he never really proved anything whatsoever in High-A where he mostly struggled. It's really unfortunate.
  6. Really awesome to see that Mudcats offense start to find itself again. The return of Lara is obviously a huge boon. That's an extremely telling impact bat. Hard to believe what he is doing in his first affiliated action at his age. LOTS to like with this young stud.
  7. RHP Robbie Baker has now given up homers in each of his last four outings. After such a great start to the year, you can definitely say: no bueno. That's 5 HR given up now in his most recent four outings. This includes every outing in June. Ruh roh. What's more, until this ugly run on the hill he hadn't given up a single long ball - that's 13 outings. Rough stretch for the feisty hurler.
  8. Tyler Black On Base Streak Scoreboard: 35 Games...and counting
  9. We'll just look right past that DSL Uno score and move right on over to the DSL Dos (yeesh).
  10. I cringe to think of those random 10-game slates we had last summer. Yikes! Big night yesterday evening. I can't help but think a certain talented infielder could help the T-Rats in this ongoing series as we await his return...
  11. That was a really really good performance from the USMNT vs Mexico tonight. 3-0 in that rivalry is nothing to scoff at. And, man, that game got chippy and really devolved. They are going to have an extremely challenging time finding suitable replacements for Dest and McKinney given how well they played.
  12. He absolutely deserves it. He's deserved it for awhile. The trick therein, however, as I understand it (and I could certainly be wrong as this isn't my expertise) is they'd have to open up a roster spot.
  13. Lawwwwwwwds have mercy on my baseball Soul. RHP James Meeker: 4 IP, 1 H, 0 BB, 8 K. Yeah baby.
  14. Sounds win baby! Three straight to start the homestand. 5-3. LHP Clayton Andrews will get that W. Four BIG outs late. Devanney with the heartbreaker.
  15. Oh be still my heart Mr. James Meeker! Man, I love that young man's game. He is getting better before our eyes at the ripe age of 28. He is on for his 4th IP here to try and close this one out (Shuckers lead 6-0). No hits. No walks. 6 K so far. Just love love LOVE his season.
  16. Cam Devanney ladies and gentlemen. That's my guy. YES SIR! Sat back enough on that breaking ball and muscles that baby well over the wall in LF. Glorious. First pitch. 5-3 Sounds.
  17. Man, I love Clayton Andrews. Big man crush on a little man. You lost your momentum boys? How about a three pitch K looking. Just bullseye darts on the outer half. Muh man!
  18. You can absolutely tell this is the subdued unsure version of Uribe. This is exactly why he needs to get Triple-A exposure before any notions he can play in the MLB right now. He gets the 2 K. Those walks hurt him but he has to make that play to get out of the inning. Mixed inning. 25 pitches. Got the big K there. The walks were wild. Andrews will get the call with runners on 1st and 2nd.
  19. Oh my word. Uribe got the clear double play ball. Right to his glove. He botches the throw to 2nd base. He had Grissom at home by a mile - he had broken to the plate. Either way, Uribe blows the play and the inning carries on. Woof.
  20. Uribe's first action in Triple-A. Lead off walk. K. Walk. Men on 1st and 2nd. One down. Accardo to the mound to talk to the young flamethrower. He needs this exposure. He'll be facing much more patient bats. He is clearly amped up. LHP Clayton Andrews is up warming up now. 3-2 Sounds. Eighth frame.
  21. INF Tyler Black hit his 8th long ball of his season and added a double. That's how you extend that on-base streak to 34 games. I would like to, again, remind everyone: Black has ONE game all season he wasn't on base at least once. Just absurd stuff he is doing in early 2023. Just a casual man toss of the 3 Iron after this laser:
  22. That's two long balls to right-right-center in two nights. Noice!!
  23. Does anyone have eyes on why RHP Carlos F. Rodriguez was pulled after 3 1/3 scoreless and 60 pitches? PLEASE be fine! Eeeeeek! He was pulled in the 4th after a K. Then a full count walk (to the backstop on ball 4). Then a 4 pitch walk and then he was yanked. All I can say is: Roinks!
  24. Dorrian's 2nd consecutive game at 1B as well as they await Hiura's return.
