  1. It would appear the Carolina Mudcats have placed Alberis Ferrer on the 7 day IL (as of 6/9). Hopefully, the young man can heal up and get a bit of a season reset. Best of luck in that recovery, Alberis.
  2. Biloxi sitting 24-28. That record says it all this season. It is time to turn this thing around, young men. You are on the doorstep. Let's start executing in those tight spots and let's tighten up that back-end. This can definitely be done and the tide can start turning in a better direction.
  3. That's the second ejection for the young grasshopper, Joey Wiemer, in the past month. You have to love that passion. Play like a superstar and demand superstar respect? Yeah, that's it.

  5. Biloxi blew another lead and managed to lose by a run? Where have I read this before? We may need to start keeping another stat column for these consistently befuddling Shuckers.?

  7. Ugh. Unsurprising given how it looked during that game BUT, whew, talk about ‘unfair’. He was on such an incredible run. Hopefully, he can come back stronger and remember the feel and the feeling of his stellar play.. This one hurts.
  8. Let's bring the hype-mobile back around the bend: 3-for-3 in Game 2 tonight versus the very good and very tough Low-A Myrtle Beach Pelicans. It was only a seven-inning game as this was a patented lower level double-header. An oppo-HR. A triple ripped to deep right center. A single. I mean....sheesh, all...this young man is something else. Do you think this young man loves the game of baseball? Look at the joy on his face on third base after the triple. You just love to see it.
  9. And, that's a wrap in Zebulon, Israel Puello holds on for the win after conceding a run scoring single. He strands runners on first and second with a liner to right field. The Mudcats take two back from Myrtle Beach - yeah, Cubbies, take that! (Lol) - and win both games on the day by one run. I'll give the fake cycle to Chourio because, well, he's such an epic talent. Hard to fathom what he's doing down in Low-A. It really is.
  10. Rhyne Moore is really settling in since his first two starts at High-A Wisconsin. He's pitched a mere 82 through 7 complete innings. It's 3-1 T-Rats. Moore also has 8 k's. Wow. Great stuff, young man!
  11. Edwin Jimenez with a fantastic bounce-back performance. I continue to love this young man's arsenal - I've said it before and I'll say it again, at his age and with his toolkit he gives me vibes of Mike Fiers. 5 complete innings of 2 hit, 3 k, and no run ball is fine by me versus the number one team in Low-A. Let's go back to the baseball heart throb that is Jackson Chourio. Hitting streak ends. Let's go 3-for-3 with a HR, a triple, and a single. Is a cycle in store tonight?!? My word.
  12. This isn't a great outing from Noah Zavolas but it's definitely a much better outing. Perhaps, he's starting to shake that rust off. He'll get into the fifth inning here trying to hold the 4-3 lead. 52 pitches through 4 innings is a very very workable amount of pitches. This is a good direction to be heading, Noah. Well done!
  13. All. He. Does. Is knock men in. Joey Wiemer steps up with two down and Yeison Coca at second base. Mike Guerrero tests the left field arm as Wiemer ripped a ball past the diving shortstop. Not on this night. Shuckers take the lead 4-3. It was a close play at the plate but the catcher could not hang on and Yeison slid in safely as the ball trickled behind home plate and Wiemer took second base. AND, just like that, Joey swipes third base for his third stolen base on the evenings. That's 15 on the year. WHAT CAN'T HE DO, Keith Law?!??
  14. Flips the MiLB.TV channel and watches Jackson Chourio rip his second triple deep over the center fielder and to the wall. His streak may have ended in Game 1, BUT, it would appear his talent is endless. Great Scotts, Marty!
  15. And, just like that the rally fizzles. It's now a four-game losing streak. Singleton goes down looking on a slider dead over the center-right cut - he strikes out on three pitches. Mark Mathias works a count full but punches a weak pop up to shallow right field where his counterpart at second base easily gathers the fly out. On to Game 2. Let's go, Sounds. Let's end this streak.
  16. Abraham Almonte walks on a full count pitch. Patience, patience, patience at the dish. He looks at a breaking ball just outside and lays off a tailing splitter below the bottom-cut of the zone. Men on first and third and the struggling Jon Singleton is up. (*Naturally, I see Big Jon has walked and doubled and scored a run since I was outside?)
  17. His defense is legit fantastic. Incredible range. Diving catches on a routine basis. He's a small but built player. The arm is nothing to write home about. But, man, he can catch pretty much anything.
  18. I go spend two full Lithium batteries on the walk-behind Toro and, lo and behold, I return for a Jonathan Davis rip to the wall in right field. Just like that, we're JD on 2nd and it's now a 4-5 Norfolk lead. Let's go, men! Brice Turang knocks JD over to third. One down.
  19. When the Sounds traveled to Jacksonville my man Jon Singleton had gotten that BA back above 0.220. He's now batting 0.181. My heavy heart needs healing?
  20. Yeah, he's in a bad stretch here after his last outing. Gotta get back in the swing of things.
  21. Flips over to the Nashville Sounds Game 1 and instantly sees Jonny Davis smash a solo dinger over the wall in left. On base streak now into the 20's. Sounds trail 3-1 in the bottom half.
  22. YES, sir! He gets the first pitch line out as it lands softly in the glove of Hedbert Perez in left field. That's Stiven Cruz's well-deserved first Low-A victory. Alright, alright, alright!
  23. We are to the top of the Pelicans' order now. It's still 3-2. Two down. Morales has given up two singles here so there are men on first and second.
  24. Karlos Morales will come on in the top of the 7th to attempt to close a 3-2 Mudcats victory and nabbing back a well-deserved win after Tuesday's late inning disappointment. Stiven Cruz was fantastic over five complete - his lone mistake a 2-run HR. Other than that fifth inning 'mistake', in total he struck out 6 and and gave up a mere walk and four hits over the five innings. That's continued fine work from the young hurler.
  25. We are in the top of the sixth inning and Jackson Chourio is in danger of losing his hit streak. He was called for highly questionable strike two check swing call in his third AB that clearly did not sit well with the young stud. He struck out in anger on a breaking ball his next pitch and tossed a menacing glare at the Infield ump. The same ump that awarded the HR call in game 1 on Tuesday evening to pull Myrtle Beach within 1 run while the entire outfield and Manager Estevez were left perplexed. It's tough having a two-ump crew.
