  1. So, I guess it's 21-1 for Myrtle Beach. My word. They score first, they pretty much win.
  2. Cam Robinson a three-run inning and a blown save? I thought I'd never see the day. And, so it goes. Trailing 6-4 to red-hot Beloit.
  3. Stay thirsty, Daniel! We're still in it. Both games. what's even worse? Cam gave up a triple down the right field line and the Rattlers now trail 5-4. LOL. Hey-o.
  4. I never thought I'd see the day. Cam Robinson gave up a run! It's now 4-4 in the bottom of the eighth. A 2-2 single past the diving glove of Ethan Murray.
  5. I think Kent Hasler wishes he was back with his lads in Wisconsin. All he's done since his promotions is give up runs. Poor Kent. You'll find that form again soon young man!
  6. Nearly every time I watch Tyler Black play, I'm not kidding, I almost instantly say: "That's a 10-year Major League player." I love this young man.
  7. True story: Coming into this tilt the Pelicans were 20-1 after scoring first. Let's hope we make that 20-2.
  8. So legit baseball rules question: A batter strikes out for out 2 on a swinging third strike. A runner is stealing second base but is clearly caught - in what might be a very brief run-down. But, the runner 10 feet from second is clearly out 3. Ethan Murray, in this case, opts not to try and tag said runner out at second but quickly catches the ball and throws home where the runner scores beating the throw. The ?: Would that runner at home have counted as a run IF Murray would have instead opted for the obvious third out? That runner at home might have scored say 3-5 seconds before the out at second. Just a guess on the timing. Either way: very close.
  9. I'm just saying, because, well gull dern it I literally feel like the ONLY one saying it: We NEED to stop sleeping on Jakson Reetz. His season is RIDICULOUS. Why are we not talking about this young man on a routine basis? He's still in 'just coming into his Prime' age. He has been constant. Flat out, constant. And, flat out fantastic. I only say this with emphasis because I intentionally placed him in my Top 20. I was like: Welp, here's a 26 year old former third round pick absolutely destroying things in his new organization. He still is in very early Prime years. His offense this season is just ridunkulous and he's just a heck of an athlete behind the plate who, in the drop of a hat, can go play left field (?!?). This is a young man that deserves recognition. #JulioHotTakes
  10. It was a ding dong given up by recently promoted Kent Hasler. Shook looked quite a bit more comfortable tonight. He had given up a mere run and had shut down seven in-a-row when recently promoted (and mashing, might I add - 7 HR in only 18 Double-A games) Matt Mervis hit a solo dong over the wall in RF. Good stuff from TJ.
  11. Russ leaves after 5 2/3 with a 4-2 lead. This is the best he's looked in 2022. A very encouraging start. I will add: the home plate ump jobbed Smith - who managed 8 k's - on several outside strike misses. Two of which prevented a final strikeout to leave with six complete and, instead, forced Russ to find more dead center which resulted in a weakly hit opposite field run-scoring grounder.
  12. What a wild moment here in Zebulon. I haven't seen Manager Victor Estevez this animated all season. A strange HR call off, what appeared to be the high wall, in left center is called a home run off the scoreboard. The players and Vic were all flabbergasted. It might be a 6-5 game? It might be 6-4. Wild. Yup, they kept the call. 6-5 Mudcats onto the bottom half of the sixth.
  13. A Tyler Black triple (his third of the year) plates Ethan Murray and the T-Rats take a 2-1 lead here in the top of the fifth. With the way Russ is dealing this could hold for a bit.
  14. This is the best version of Russ Smith I've seen all year. Working fast and with a purpose on the mound. His curve ball is quite zesty tonight. You love to see it. 1-1 into the top half of the fifth inning in (shivers) Beloit.
  15. The Tennessee Smokies (Cubs' Double-A affiliate) have a young man recently promoted - Matt Mervis. He just hit a solo jack bomb over the wall in right field. He has seven ding dongs in 18 games since his promotion. Who does he think he is?!? Brayan Oropeza?
  16. It is June 7th. We are in Day 7 of 'Where is Joey Wiemer?'. I have nothing else but a bowl filled with tears.?
  17. Check. Out. The Scoop: Hedbert, you dreamy dreamy man you.
  18. Yeah baby. I second this notion. And, as if I was doing anything competent with Tristan Peters and Tristen Lutz...I now look forward to a 'Brayan'. This is why we get the big bucks. ?
  19. Woooof. Man. That's tough. Perhaps, Harold's ninth inning melt-down was indicative of an injury? That's a huge part of the reliable Biloxi pitching staff. Not getting easier for the Shuckers! Edit to Add: This also explains Hasler and Vennarro being 'sent down'. They obviously needed some coverage down yonder.
  20. I remember the early season - the Good Days of Tietz. He was used, in the early weeks, as the bullpen arm in bases loaded jams. He excelled in those first two outings. Since then, he seemed to struggle with putting men on base. I wish him all the best in Arizona.
  21. I’ll assume you are talking about Cornielle. Intriguing. He’s been hot and cold with his control - you’ll see this in his elevated 1.60 WHIP (largely due to a super walk-heavy April) with the obvious addendum of: oh hey control issues in Low-A?! But, by and large, it hasn’t impacted his games too much as of yet. He scuffled early in the season but got results while doing so. Was Quite good in May. I would consider his most recent start ok. It’s too early to tell but I’d like to see him build off of May.
  22. I'm just going to comment on the notion of 16-18 yo's pursuing professional baseball dreams. If the first stop is the ACL after the DSL, many of these young men are moving from their families and their homes to the Dominican Republic. From there, they immerse themselves in the Southwest of Arizona. I want to acknowledge this journey and the separation from family as the ultimate sacrifice to pursue that dream. Talent is obviously a part of the package - if you have boatloads you are set up for better success. But, man, what a sacrifice and what a commitment. I wish them all the best in success and fulfillment.
  23. DSL Tigers 1 and DSL Brewers 2 are knotted up at 6 in the top of the ninth. The Tigers have managed 13 hits until now and have a man on second base.
  24. Great stuff @CheeseheadInQC and @Smichaelis9. Absolutely love the posts.
  25. This is awesome. You love to see the bounce back. In a game filled with sample sizes, this is a nice one. Congrats, to Ashton! Keep grinding!
