  1. Jonny Davis continues to have a year at the Triple-A level. With 2 more doubles today and now a single to left field here in the top of the sixth, Jonny improves to 8-for-20 on this Mud Hens series. The man is playing lights out for the Sounds.
  2. Yup, Vennaro has completed two scoreless innings of one walk and three punch out ball. Heck of a debut in a 4-4 game in a tough road series!
  3. Yeah, there is some serious rust on the rails with these two at present. Zavolas, in particular, from what I've seen is just 'off'. I guess 6 hits, 4 walks, and 2 wilds speaks to what I've seen in his previous two starts. The best part of the Biloxi game today, for me at least, is all the damage has essentially come from the bottom of the order. That's huge. Stay within striking distance and let's hope the big guns get hot late. Vennaro is on for his first work of his Triple-A time and, so far, he's gone 1 1/3 scoreless. Let's hope he keeps it rolling for that Nashville pen!
  4. Oh baby, that's why he's Cam. He remains unscored upon in May. Leaves the bases juiced. Finishes the inning with 2 straight strikeouts - including a fantastic stop on a tailing strikeout pitch into the dirt to Wes Clarke's lower left. Wes manages to keep the ball in front of him and up the third base line. The T-Rats earn the series split. What a win!
  5. Anthony Prato misses a mammoth 3-run shot down the left field line and Robinson then walks him (Prato was a double shy of the cycle) and the bases are juiced for Cam with one down.
  6. It's getting interesting in the bottom of the ninth, the hit batter is followed by a full-count single to deep center. Men on first and second and nobody out for Cam who looks a wee amped. Let's hope he settles it down and we get that series split!
  7. An 0-1 curveball has no curve and stays inside hitting the lead-off batter. The tying run is now at the plate with nobody down.
  8. The Kernels bullpen has now pitched 5 straight scoreless innings and it is on to the bottom of the ninth where the ever-reliable and often dominant Cam Robinson looks to end this game at 6-4.
  9. A lead-off triple to the red hot and very dangerous Anthony Prato comes back to haunt James Meeker. The tying runner is at first base but Meeker manages to induce the weak ground out to third. It is now 6-4 T-Rats on to the top of the ninth.
  10. Ryne Moore with by far his best outing since his High-A promotion. Facing the lead-leading Kernels, he goes 6 complete innings of 4 strikeout, 5 hit, 0 walk ball. The no walks is huge for Ryne as he struggled with nerves and control in his first two outings. He did manage to hit two batters today so he'll look to clean that up. He had a pick-off throwing error as well. But, all in all, a huge outing for this young man's confidence. Big congratulations, Ryne!
  11. Man, this knee injury to Carlos has me all sorts of 'Not now! No way, no how!' He was coming into his own before our very eyes.
  12. Here's another look at some absolute leather work in the extras for our young Carolina Mudcats. These are some seriously impressive savvy vet types of defensive throw outs:

  14. Tristan Peters have a ball game young man!! He smashes a two-run Home Run with Peters and Gray Jr. on base for his second and third rbi's on the afternoon And, just like that it's a 6-2 ballgame.
  15. Ruh roh! Carlos Rodriguez just left the game due to a left knee injury. ? This is not good news after he had been on a red hot streak throughout May. Let's keep those hopes up it isn't serious. Ugh.
  16. Moore gives up two singles after a lead-off groundout and then Wes Clarke commits a throwing error attempting to nab the runner at second who steals the base and heads to third on the error. It's 3-2 T-Rats as Moore strikes out the next two batters stranding the runner on third. That's two runs off of two T-Rats throwing errors. On to the fourth inning.
  17. The T-Rats get lead-off men on second and first to start the third. They proceed to fly out, line out, and fly out to end any chance at more runs. Peters and Clarke are stranded on third and first, respectively. Hopefully, this doesn't come back to haunt in the bottom-half.
  18. Wes Clarke now has 34 walks in 118 AB's on the young season. That's bonkers!
  19. Tristan Peters appears to be slowly heating up once again. After a walk earlier in the game, he leads off the third with a double to right field - his seventh of the season.
  20. Meanwhile, in our thread, Julio and damuelle go back-to-back as well ?
  21. Tyler Black homers for the second game in a row and Carlos Rodriguez (his name seems to pop up in every box score these days) extends his on base streak to 10 games with a homer himself. It's 3-1 T-Rats here after two complete. Rhyne Moore gets out of the second relatively unscathed - with men on first and third and two down he throws a wild pick-off to first for the lone run and then induces a ground out to end the inning.
  22. 110mph laser HR there for Tristan Lutz - it sure looked like he dented that light pole. He came off the IL in the best form of his season. Form we really hadn't seen since his opening series in Pensacola. You love to see it! What do I mean by 'top form'? Well, having been on the shelf since April 29th after 1 AB versus the same Pensacola Blue Wahoos, Tristan has been on a proverbial tear since his return May 14th versus Birmingham: 11 games/ 43 AB's/ 13 hits/ 24 TB/ 2 Doubles/ 3 HR/ 11 RBI's/ 5 Walks/ 0.302 BA/ 0.375 OBP/ 0.558 SLG

  24. It would appear the young lads are taking to the 'Wily Adames Effect' quite nicely! Yeah, baby!
  25. Incredible bullpen work in Biloxi - much needed and sweet results for several arms who had hiccups of late. Sal Frelick has come back from his brief stint on the shelf in top notch form to boot - quite an exciting development. The duo of Hasler and Robinson (a fine Law Group name, I might add if they should ever change pursuits) is about as lights out as you can get at High-A. Very exciting and electric stuff we should all be aware of. Hats off to Toledo: they earned that win.
