  1. Thanks, that's interesting. I guess if he's having issues hitting his spot with the slider, probably a good idea for him to throw a lot of them. He needs to master that pitch. If he's going to be a MLB starting pitcher, he can't just blow FBs by people all day. Throwing a lot of sliders, at any level, is not ideal for arm health. Hopefully he can dial the amount thrown back and use better quality than quantity on his practice...
  2. Whoa - this list can just be ripped to shreds and re-constructed after the afternoon the Brewers just had. MOAR PROSPECTS!
  3. That's why I like Brewerfan.net. Knowledgeable posters that you can disagree with. I will think of it as a colossal failure if the Brewers do not trade Lucroy and at least two relievers today as the rebuild is on and needs to be augmented with the trading of assets that won't be here when the team hits its stride. The reliever market is absolutely crazy this year for the returns and Lucroy is the only all-star catcher on the market. DS has to get these deals done today or the fanbase, in my opinion, will not react well. Just my $.02 as always.
  4. There are some here, including at times, members of player families. I posted a direct quote from Chris Capuano once, attributed to a, "source close to Capuano", per his request, and I discussed Rickie Weeks' last Brewer contract negotiations with a name anyone who has followed the Brewers since the early 90s would recognize, sharing some of that here at the time. There's a lot of great information here on this site, which is why I've been here for 11 years now. We can talk about that another time, this thread is for the Lucroy trade, but trust me, you and I are not the only ones who read this board. I remember that (pretty sure at least). There has always been a wealth of knowledge here and I've appreciated that for 10+ years as well. Let's keep it civil and knowledgeable. Heck, we're not Cubs fans...we're smarter than that!! Hammer Back OT - Let's not forget that the Brewers are about to make what could be a franchise altering trade. Heck yea we should be EXCITED!!
  5. I'm really hoping Luc isn't in the lineup until he's traded. Don't need to take that risk right now...
  6. I'd still like to make sure either Tate or Ortiz plus 2-3 others are coming back. Pitching, more pitching and more pitching please.
  7. Maybe "underwhelming" was not the right word for my reaction. It seemed like Hill could have been a piece in a package that would have netted more in totality. Something like Hill + a reliever = more or something like that?
  8. Underwhelming return...but whatever. Maybe Wilkerson can come up and replace Garza when he has his next "injury".
  9. Yes, way too early to tell. That said - where does this put the Brewers draft ratings wise?
  10. Come on DS - get Smith, Jeffress, Boyer out there!! #MoreProspectsPlease!!
  11. Since pitching seems to be the theme for Stearns in this trade I'd think that Martes, Paulino and lotto tickets Jose Hernandez + Enrique Chavez would get it done. #MoarPitching #PitchingWoahsolvvd
  12. This has been my fear for the last two seasons. Hopefully the AAA mess is fixed after this year...
  13. I'm sure that everyone would want them...but those don't seem realistic.
  14. I'm thinking that they will both get a 5ish game suspension when all is said and done. The last thing that MLB needs is even more wussification and less "red ass" and "passion". While I agree that Ventura is a punk, at least he isn't a complete wet blanket like the vast majority of the players in this era...
  15. Really not a fan of that trade with Boston. I'm thinking something more along the lines of Espinosa, Swihart + a couple of A ball/Rookie league lottery ticket pitchers.
  16. One thing that people need to remember is that we cannot get too attached to superstar players that are within a couple/few years of the end of their contract. They need to be traded! That is the only way a team like Milwaukee will continuously have high-end talent in the minors. Grow them, use them and the trade them away. Just my $.02
  17. This sucks as Scooter was actually one of the fun/bright spots so far this season. Another part here: Garza was moved to the 60-day DL to make room.
  18. It's actually my own personal jinx. I was in attendance at both Wainwright's injury game and Morton's injury game. They were both on a Saturday night in April as well...
  19. "Umm - hey Jeff, remember me...David Stearns? So yeah, your catchers are hitting at a sub .400 OPS. Notice that? So...yeah, I'll take AJ Reed, Francis Martes and David Paulino for Luc. Deal?"
  20. Record: 66-96; 4th place in the NL Central Team MVP: Domingo Santana Home Runs: Chris Carter; 39 Wins: Jimmy Nelson, 13 Bold Predictions: Both Lucroy and a resurgent Braun get traded by mid-July at the latest.
  21. This is something that I think makes a ton of sense. Packaging both Lucroy and Smith together should yield an amazing return...and I hope this is the route taken by Stearns sooner than later. My non-expert shot at the trade: Milwaukee out: Lucroy, Smith Texas out: Lewis Brinson, Dillon Tate, Ariel Jurado, Ti'Quan Forbes, and Ronald Guzman
  22. 1. Orlando Arcia 2. Maverick Phillips 3. Jorge Lopez 4. Gilbert Lara 5. Trent Clark 6. Josh Hader 7. Jacob Nottingham 8. Kodi Medeiros 9. Demi Orimoloye 10. Clint Coulter 11. Cody Ponce 12. Isan Diaz 13. Devin Williams 14. Monte Harrison 15. Rymer Liriano 16. Zach Davies 17. Michael Reed 18. Adrian Houser 19. Nate Kirby 20. Jacob Gatewood 21. Taylor Williams 22. Marcus Diplan 23. Jorge Ortega 24. Damien Magnifico 25. Garin Cecchini 26. Tyrone Taylor 27. Keon Broxton Not sure if this is correct but I thought I had Tyrone Taylor in my top 5-7 at one point in the past. Crazy...
  23. I'm also on the Lucroy to the Cubs bandwagon. Trade Luc and either Peralta or a resurgent Garza to the Cubs for a haul at the deadline...
  24. To me, the Rangers do make the most sense as a trading partner as they are the closest to being considered a World Series favorite. While I know position really shouldn't matter at this point, the Brewers have so many outfielders in their top 20 list already that adding another one doesn't seem like the best use of a very valuable resource. Just my .02 though... All of that said, it will be probably take the first injury or two in spring training to find where his true landing spot is. I still think teams are waiting to see if he can take that first foul tip to the face before making a substantial trade offer...
  25. Personally, I think you have to add pitching with this trade. Tate, Ortiz and 2 lower list P's would do it for me...
