  1. It is really difficult to project players prior to the combine and college pro days, so much changes afterwards. This year’s draft depends on trading Rodgers. At the moment the 2 best options in need of a QB are either the Raiders or Jets. From a Packers viewpoint the best case scenario would be LV where the 7th pick would be in play. If they are able to swindle this pick from the Raiders I would hope they would prioritize the Edge or OT positions. Edge Rushers that might be available at #7 would be: Tyree Wilson, Texas Tech, Keion White, Ga. Tech, Miles Murphy, Clemson at #13 (Jets) or #15: Nolan Smith and Derick Hall from Ga, or Lukas Van Ness, Iowa. Offensive Tackles- Paris Johnson Jr., OSU or Broderick Jones, Ga., *Peter Skoronski, Northwestern (currently there is a chance he might be available. But Bob’s grandson could drop a bit with combine or pro day results). Picking a TE or S in the top 15 picks is more of a gamble. There always seems to be good ones later in the draft (although S has become almost as important as the big guys ). If you’re looking for a Kittle or Kelce the most similar TE in this draft would be Dalton Kincaid from Utah. He is very quick off the ball, explosive, a fluid route runner, hard to bring down and is great after the catch. Michael Mayer lacks Kincaid’s elite athleticism and speed, however he is more physical and a much better run blocker. However if your looking for a blocking TE, the massive Darnell Washington from Ga. would be a better bet than Mayer, but wasn’t used as much as a receiver at Ga. What makes me nervous in regards to Mayer is Notre Dame overhype. The 2 safeties with 1-2 round grades are Brian Branch from Alabama and Antonio Johnson from Texas A & M. Both have excellent tackling skills which always is a Packer weakness. Branch is the better pass defender with Johnson better against the run. Of course if Rodgers is traded to LV, my dream would be that one of the 4 QBs would fall and still be available at #7…….maybe Will Levis from Kentucky, C.J. Stroud from OSU, Anthony Richardson, Fla. (likely) or Bryce Young from Alabama would be a great option if they still have any questions about Jordan Love.
  2. Sorry! I guess I was just wishful thinking. I’ll be better next time. OK?
  3. Well I believe this just cements Burnes moving on from the Brewers in either 2023 or 2024. I seriously doubt that there is any way Burnes wants to stay a Brewer.

  7. “Fangraphs rated him the Mariners No. 13 prospect thanks in large part to his impressive slider.” Per Curt Hogg MJS. BTW the link is to the wrong Joseph Hernandez.

  9. Mine too, lol. The 1978 team is still my favorite Brewer team of all time. We had tickets to opening day on April 6. I woke up to a cold and rainy day, bad enough weather to have the game postponed. The rescheduled opening day was April 7th. Still cold with lighter rain at the start. Best game I’ve attended at County Stadium. Baltimore was in town that was a team with 90+ wins in ‘77. My expectations were high even though the Brewers only won 67 games the year before. Larry Hisle was the team’s big signing over the winter, however Robin Yount was a holdout threatening to join the PGA tour. Replacing him was a rookie named Paul Molitor. Well, Hisle hit a 2 run homer and Sixto followed that up with a grand salami a couple of innings later. Brewers won 11-3. They swept the series scoring 40 runs and followed that up sweeping the world champ Yankees in a 2 game set. It was quite a start for a team that never even sniffed a 0.500 record the previous 8 years. They won 93 games that year good enough for 3rd place behind the repeating WS champs Yankees and Red Sox. Those were indeed heady times.
  10. At this point it appears that annual club salaries have drastically increased. I worry that if Attanasio and company would like to keep it at $130M or less will be left behind. Bites of the apple or WS windows will be coming around less often for teams in a similar situation. With the contracts being signed this winter it will virtually impossible for lower salary teams to keep up with teams like the Dodgers, Yankees, Padres, Rangers, Astros, etc. without some type of salary cap. The likelihood of teams like the Brewers, Royals, Rays, etc. look for ways to increase their bottom line will come into play. Look for team movements to new cities or at the very least new owners willing to increase their salary structures to occur in the next few years.
  11. Sean Murphy would be an excellent pick-up at catcher and really strengthen our catcher position. However, I would rather trade Frelick rather than Mitchell. He has much greater defensive skills ( arm strength and speed) and power over Frelick. This is much more important in the run prevention model the Brewers have embraced. And with Yelich at the top of the order we have the lead-off position covered for many years.
  12. Do you think that the Winter Meetings will become a thing of the past? With the convenience of many free online video communication platforms available it would seem teams would look to move away from on-site meetings and conferences to save money and time. More and more companies have moved on to this business model. Over the past few years more transactions have occurred later during the hot stove season and the Winter Meetings have become just a way to keep MLB in the public eye.
  13. By making that statement you become a pariah on this site. There are posters on this site that will never forgive or forget your opinion Of the golden boy Frelick. Best to change your nickname and go underground.
  14. Obviously I brought up Hiura due to your “125 wRC+in a 130 PA” comment in a previous post. Anyone can manipulate stats with a small sample size of 130 PA. The fact is neither you nor I have any idea what Henderson will accomplish in his career. I would rather have a much more certain player like a Cy Young winner in Burns at a much more valuable position than a prospect like Henderson who you stated with a minimum of 130 PA. Pay attention please.

  16. What was Hiura’s wRC+ in his first MLB season? 139 with 348 PA.

  18. So where do you believe Henderson will be ranked (as a non-pitcher) in the next 6 years?

  20. That is why overvaluing prospects isn’t the best way to build a roster. I seriously doubt that Henderson will be a top 10 MLB shortstop in the next 6 years.

  22. Arnold tells Baltimore to kiss off. Burns is a legitimate MLB pitcher and Cy Young winner. All Henderson, Hall and Rodriguez are prospects with little to no experience.
