  1. Yost can't coach "clutch hitting" - on the other hand, the one thing a coach should be able to do is teach and stress fundamentals. If we've got the gamers, the hard-workers and battlers Yost wants, then why do they keep making fundamental mistkes like this?
  2. I saw the second one, he was safe. That's not my point though. If it were Podsednik, or even Krynzel, I might have a different take on it. But Clark has shown a propensity to get thrown out MORE OFTEN THAN BEING SAFE!! So why steal him at the point to begin with?? If he doesnt go, he doesnt get called out. I just wish that someone were held accountable for the terrible base running and other mental mistakes both at the plate (missed bunts) and in the field (a laundry list of things).
  3. Come on scoop, that isnt what I am saying at all. Down 3 runs in the first inning and already we are trying to stretch singles into doubles?? I know it was only the first inning, but Clark needs to realize that we need more than just his run, and that we need to start a rally. I'd complain about a Cirllo bunt in the first as well. Then I believe they were down 2 runs when Brady tried to steal 2nd base, his run meant jack-squat. What I was saying is that even attempting to take extra bases when you are down 3 in the first, or 2 late in the game is crazy because you need a lot more than one run at that point. Regardless of the call the ump made, it wasnt all that bright to be risking it at those points in the game. Also at both times there were fewer than 2 outs, which makes it less excusable. Clark has shown no ability to take extra bases, he's been thrown out stealing a lot this year. with 2 outs I can see the attempted steal or extra base, because the chances of two hits with 2 outs is slim, but with no outs or one out, just stay at first and let Overbay and Lee do their thing.
  4. If there is anything this team hasnt quit doing, its making mental and fundamental mistakes.
  5. Well, if Clark doesn't risk getting thrown out when we were down 3 runs in the first, and two runs later in the game (when his single run meant nothing) then the umpire would not have been in position to make a bad call. We have been consistently making or giving away 2 outs a game on the basepaths, while giving the other team 2 extra outs in the field. playing 25 outs to 29 outs isn't going to win you much.
  6. It's got to be lack of fundamentals. Today's doofus was definitely Brady Clark. 2 outs on the basepaths and an error in the OF that cost us the game. Nice going Brady, who taught you how to run bases, Alex Sanchez and Ronnie Belliard?
  7. Bill Hall 4-4 in hitting the snot out of the ball. 2-4 on the day only. But I am sure all the haters are right, he'll be a .245/.305 guy by the end of the year. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/eyes.gif
  8. The thing that a manager IS responsible for is FUNDAMENTALS. Caught Stealing Thrown out at home Thrown out a second missing the cut off man missing the ball completely errant throws booting groundballs TERRIBLE BUNTING throwing to the wrong base That's not from bad talent so much as it is from bad coaching, or lack of coaching.
  9. ohhh, and with the "roundtable" threads you can cue the "brewerfan elitist" threads as well, as I am sure there will be some who will feel left out and be bitter about it. You know the whole "what does Toby know about jack-squat that I don't" sort of threads that have started to surface in response to the Power 50.
  10. Just wondering how some random threads get "ratings", such as the two Texas trade threads that each have 3 baseball ratings.
  11. Yeah, Jenkins is probably the best long term solution for this year, I'm just sick of wathing him stink.
  12. I don't know, I was only replying to the statment that calling up Prince and sticking Lyle in RF was the only other solution to filling the RF void.
  13. Actually, calling up Hart or Cruz to play RF and leaving Lyle alone probably makes more sense for this year, as Cruz or Hart in RF and Overbay at 1b will probably not be as bad defensively as Overbay in RF and Prince at 1b. Well...it might be a tie defensively, with Hart, but Hart should definitely be considered.
  14. I just think a decision like that would be INCREDIBLY shortsighted. Assuming the Brewers aren't going to bring up a corner outfielder until next year (looks to be the case) you would be replacing Jenkins with Magruder?? You honestly think Magruder is better Actually Russ I was being a little drastic in a sarcastic way. But look what Helms has done since stinking up the joint early this year. He has gone on to be the 25th man for a bit and when he got ABs he looked terrible at first, but then you could actually see him really concentrating and trying to make the most out of his few pinch hit plate appearances, and as we have seen, he has provided some clutch HRs and 2bs since. He certainly is still the 3rd best option as far as 3b goes, but he began to really focus on his ABs and it looks to have paid off for him. I'd like to see Jenkins get up there thinking that it might be his only PA of the week and that he has to make the most out of it, maybe he will change his approach a little and concentrate better...who knows. I definitely understand that Magruder is not a long term answer, but another week of Magruder wouldnt hurt in the long run.
  15. Jenkins needs to go the way of Wes Helms. Buried deep on the bench for the forseeable future until he shows in PH appearances and occaisonal starts that he can produce at better than a .700 OPS.
  16. THe Brewers are just running into Nomo at the "top of his game" and in the middle of a "hot streak" for the D-Rays. Hard Luck I tell ya.
  17. I cant wait until Hardy makes an error and everyone here calls for him to be moved to centerfield.
  18. Fossum v. Ohka in the match-up of former Red Sox prospects.
  19. cue the long ball....I cant believe people were talking sweep....
  20. Bill: "Doug Waechter feeling it tonight..." Jim Powell: "The Brewers keep running into hot teams..." Well, it isnt coincidence fellas that pitchers w/ 7.20 ERA's are "feeling it" against us, and the teams we are playing that are knocking the snot out of us are "hot"...its actually because we suck.
  21. I cant believe how bad Overbay is, I mean, only two hits today and a HR. Geoff Jenkins 0-100 or bust!!!
  22. I posted this in the "Pirate" thread as well... FYI - just so people know, right now Tampa Bay fans are saying to themselves..."we'll get back on track when the Brewers come to town"...and they have every right to believe that since we are the only team to match them in pitifulness over the past 5 years. I am sure someone is assuming a sweep, DRay fans are already considering themselves +3 in the win column. Yes, the Brewers really are the NL DRays...only with a longer history of losing. Nothing in this series is a "gimmie"
  23. yeah but Krynzel has a decent minor league resume. Braun is completely unknown at this time. I'd put him about 13-15.
  24. How about "clearer" thread titles? Some of these are just hilarious. "names" is a good one. there is one right now in the Trading Forum that is "2005 white jersey Sheets" - sounds like someone is selling or looking for a jersey doesnt it? Nope...its a bobblehead...but even that isnt clear from the tone of the thread. Clarity, Clarity, Clarity.
  25. Rockies take Jarred Page, former #5 pick for the Crew, in round #32.
