  1. Thanks for the input guys. If anyone else has an opinion I'd love to hear it. This is a trade that I am considering proposing. I would be the one trading Prince and Beckett and getting Hanley and Sheets, etc. I feel I have pretty good power with other guys on my team such as Miguel Cabrera, Manny Ramirez, Brandon Phillips, etc. but I lack speed. with Phillips the only guy on my team a threat to take over 10 bags. I'd expect 50 HRS between Lee and Hanley Ramirez, and about 60 HRs between Prince and Renteria, however I'd look for 50-60 steals from Hanley and Derek Lee and about 10 from Prince and Renteria.
  2. Hammer, I graduated from UW-L in December of 2000 as well, PolSci and Public Administration majors.
  3. Wow. Bad deal. welp, might as well post the trade I am thinking of pulling off, I wont tell you which one I am. Guy who needs some speed trades Prince Fielder, Josh Beckett, Edgar Renteria Guy who needs some power trades Hanley Ramirez, Ben Sheets, Derek Lee Ok, who is getting the better end of it. Traditional 5x5 league.
  4. You're really not even a Brewers fan, are you? And what difference does it make if we have several good young starters? In any event, I'll assume you've changed your mind since we've gotten rid of Vargas, correct? Heh. I thought the exact same thing to myself. I searched for a picture of Wilford Brimley or the Grumpy Old Men, but in the end I didnt want to waste the time to post it.
  5. Not with Corey Patterson as their starting CF'er. Patterson is just keeping the seat warm until Jay Bruce comes up and Bruce is a STUD. We are talking BA minor league player of the year, similar impact to what Ryan Braun provided us good. Having said that, I don't see where we upgraded from last year. Our starting pitching and relief pitching is a huge question mark. Should we finish higher than the Reds? Yes, but I would not be surprised if the Reds pass us by this year. Its just unfortunate that a lot of Brewer fans are looking through rose colored glasses and solely banking on all of our young players to step it up to the next level. So because we are looking for guys like Hart, Fielder, Braun, Gallardo, etc to build on what they have already proven to be at the major league level we are looking through rose colored glasses, but SI, proclaiming that the Reds youngsters who across the board havent really done anything in the majors will not only equal what the Brewers youngsters did last year, but also surpass any gains this year ISNT looking through rose colored glasses?
  6. I thought Vargas had a decent spring. I guess even with that we can assume that he had ZERO trade value.
  7. No. 21 Jhonny Peralta. Hilarity ensues. Comment: Doesn't get a lot of respect, probably because of his superstar teammates and his questionable defense, but power-hitting shortstops are a rarity. Peralta 3 year splits: .272/.342/.442 Average 20 Hrs a year...and dont forget the shoddy defense. Age 25 JJ Hardy last year: .277/.323/.463 26 Hrs, average to above average defense: Age 25
  8. I really dont see how Griffey/Phillips/Dunn is superior to Fielder/Braun/Hart. As it stands today Sheets and Harang are about equal with a slight edge to Ben if he stays healthy all year, big edge to Harang is Sheets gets hurt (duh.) The bullpens are a push. Call me a homer, but Id take the rest of our lineup (Weeks, Hardy, Cameron, Kendall, Hall) over theirs (C. Patt, Keppinger, Ed. Encarnacion, Ross, Hatteberg). Heck I even like Gallardo/Parra to be as good as Cueto/Volquez. But then again, I am wearing Brewer colored glasses.
  9. Ryan Braun Comment: f this were only about hitting, Braun might be No. 1 on our list. But defense counts, too, and Braun offers no value at all in the field. 1. Does Neyer know Braun has been moved to LF? (I actually doubt he does) 2. Has Neyer seen Braun play LF? (I would bet a fair amount he hasnt) 3. Is Neyer saying that Braun's defense on day 1 in LF will be the same as his defense in years 2-5? (It seems he is, if he knows he is even playing LF)
  10. First comment for the Reds: "Young starters are the reason they could make the jump the Rockies did last year." I suppose Gallardo, Parra and Villanueva are not as highly regarded as Cueto, Volquez and ummmm, Josh Fogg?
  11. Yahoo is the best, IMO. As far as Fantasy Baseball goes, who is getting the better end of this deal? Fielder, Beckett, Renteria for Hanley Ramirez, Derek Lee, Ben Sheets. The guy dealing Fielder is doing so because he needs to some speed, the guy dealing HanRam because he needs some pop.
  12. If/when this happens I will re-subscribe. I unvoluntarily unsubscribed when my car was broken into and everything was taken including my XM2go and Sirius radio system.
  13. Davidson FTW! With Curry-Lovedale, they are a legit Sweet 16 team and have decent chance to beat Wisconsin, who is about equal to Georgetown.
  14. I was pulling for Marquette the whole way, on the edge of my seat jumping up and yelling for the good and the bad, and I didnt see Marquette getting hosed by the refs, I just saw them get beat on a great shot by Lopez.
  15. This is the best I have seen WIsconsin play all year.
  16. Yohannis Perez should be about ready to take over.
  17. Brian please let us know if you get a response from Fox. I dont need any more reasons to Boycott them, but one more never hurts.
  18. Great piece on firejoemorgan.com about some bonehead writer and Dusty. Here is the linky http://www.firejoemorgan.com/2008/03/theres-war-brewing.html The writer is an absolute idiot.
  19. Pedro, you are awesome. Congrats to the winners!!
  20. I cannot stop the snow, but please put me in the for the drawing. Thanks!
  21. I dont know if Baldelli is the jerk, unless I miss the humor. I read it on firejoemorgan last night as well. Man, that is a great blog.
  22. Well, the Big Ten teams beat Baylor, CS-Fullerton and Temple while USC and Arizona lost to very good teams from the Big 12 and Big East, so it is kind of an Apples to Oranges comparison. I've been a Big Ten fan and defender for a long time, but I my patience is starting to wear thin with the Badgers. They seem to be built for the regular season and not tourney play. They are consistent, disciplined, and deliberate and that goes a long way in a grind-it-out Big Ten season, but that style of play has non translated to Tournament wins. Their last three tourney games they have not looked good at all. Let's up Indiana can win today and the Big Ten puts 4 in the Sweet 16.
  23. MUCH better second half by Badgers. They played more at their tempo. Lets hope they can wrap this one ip.
  24. Why the hell are they pumping up 3s? this is NOT the same Badger team I saw all year. Come on Ryan, get it together!!
