  1. I just saw this as well. I was wondering how much he went through. 100 million huh? That doesnt surprise me. Dont feel bad about him turning down that 3yr/21 mil deal. If he had signed that he'd have just gone broke a year or two later than he did.
  2. I am under the impression that if the buyer has an agent that the two agents split the comission, something like 5% to the selling agent, 2 to the buyers agent. If you dont have an agent then the seller gets the whole thing. Not to take this off topic, but whoever decided that a commission was the way to go for real estate agents? It would seem to me that it would be a bit easier to sell a house the nicer it was, or the bigger it was or if it were in a nicer neighborhood, yet the selling agent gets a lot more. I never understood.
  3. I have looked into the heart of Ben Sheets's DNA, and I have seen weakness.
  4. So we are breaking down a pitchers DNA?? Come on...
  5. What about studying in Scotland/Ireland/England/Wales? I think that would be very cool to hang there for 6 mos., then you can cruise the rest of Europe whenever you get a chance.
  6. An injured pitcher whose contract expires at the end of the year? I bet teams will be lining p to give up useful pieces for some of that. I hope Sheets has a dominant year, we make the playoffs and he walks, leaving us comp picks and then people can bellyache about NOT having him. (actually, I hope he stays, but he wont).
  7. And then if the Brewers fall back to the pack after a trade, or if a Gallardo or Villanueva go down after a trade? The ONLY way he gets traded is if he is healthy AND Melvin decides we are already eliminated come July 31. In other words, he isnt going to be traded.
  8. They should get rid of the penny and create a 5 cent piece. That would make more sense.
  9. Cockfighting does not = dogfighting, not in our culture. We keep dogs as pets and never eat them. We eat chicken all the time, and in fact, chicken factories where we get eggs from are way worse than what these roosters go through, and none of us seem to have a problem with it.
  10. I posted it more for its comical potential than anything else. I agree, he is doing it in the DR where it is legal, then sure, fine...but it could make for some great comedy too.
  11. It doesnt sound as good as ----fighting, but lets keep it clean for the kids, right? So anyway, YouTube video surfaced yesterday with Pedro and Juan Marichal releasing two roosters to fight to the death, in The Dominican Republic (where it is legal, sorry Ron Mexico) and Marichal's rooster kills Pedro's Rooster. Here is the Deadspin Link. The comments sections, as always, is hilarious. My favorite was the guy who said that wasnt a rooster that PEdro released, it was Nelson De La Rosa dressed in a rooster costume. Comments are PG-13 for the play-on-words effect.
  12. I tried to contribute, but Becks is the only soccer guy I know, unless Batistuta is still playing somewhere....
  13. Is Beckham playing?
  14. Baseball Stars, easily.
  15. Gallardo will be an ace for the next 5 years and then taper off? Sounds perfect to me. We wont be able to afford him in 6 years anyway. A dream scenario for the brewers.
  16. I do not know much at all about the NBA, but I was under the impression that Shaq is washed up, cant shoot (still), is fat and cant run and is always hurt. I was also under the impression that the Suns run a lot. This doesnt seem like a smart trade for the Suns.
  17. Ginger Jordan was better looking, but after reading her myspace page she is way more attractive. She digs baseball, the Brewers, rock, travel. She seems pretty cool. Kind of a groupie, but pretty cool.
  18. Is that a yes or a no? Is it derived from a stringer looking at videotapes and assigning a general value? And you have no idea whether observation is more accurate or not. Is the observer always taking note on the frequency of hard hit balls compared to Ks, balls that should have been gotten to, errors called hits, extra bases given up by bad OFs, etc? Or is the observer only observing when balls are hit hard?? I know I couldnt casually observe 30 starts in 2006 and then 30 starts in 2007 and tell you which season a guy gave up more hard hit balls unless I was tracking every pitch. The only balls that would leave an impression in my mind would be the bad ones. Nobody remembers the jam-job pop out with two out and a guy on 2nd, everyone remembers the bases clearing double down the line that may have been an out if a better fielder were there.
  19. Was it wrong of me for holding out hope for "You Wreck Me" after "American Girl"??
  20. To take what Brett said a step further, many Yankee fans have told me they would prefer Scott Brosius up at the plate in the playoffs rather than A-Rod. What????
  21. I dislike the Yankees too much to dislike the Red Sox, as they are the first line of defense so to speak in keeping the Yankees out of the playoffs. However, once the Yanks are out of it I usually root against the Red Sox, at least since 2004. I really wanted Cleveland to win it last year. As far as football goes. I have never really liked the Giants, but was always kind of "ehh" about them so they never bothered me. Hard to hate the Jets as bad as they have been for so long. My hatred for the Patriots has reached Yankee-esque proportions. I dont care enough about the NBA or NHL to waste my time wondering which teams I dislike more. Boston fans are as bad as New York fans, but somehow, when it comes to football they are really, really bad.
  22. OK, could someone post a short list of people that they would accept as a SB halftime performer?? Or what these performers should do to properly entertain us? I saw one person mention Maroon 5 or The Killers. How are they more "entertainment" than Petty? As far as I know they are both radio-friendly bands and would appeal to teens, but I couldnt tell you one song they are known for. At least Petty is considered "classic." So, BF.net, you have 12-15 minutes to fill for the Super Bowl halftime show. Go ahead, tell me what you would do with it entertainment wise. Blow my mind.
  23. That was one that I did see. It was nice to see T-Mobile (right?) delivering the pay-off after the Charles/D-Wade "who's in your 5" saga the past year or so. It shows good planning and foresight by the marketing department.
  24. Part of the problem is lack of foresight by Melvin and Co. Moving a career middle infielder to CF to make room for what can only be described as a guy who plays Third Base with a frying pan for a glove and a sling shot for an arm was very short-sighted by Melvin and Co. Hall has to be held accountable for this offensive stats last year, but Melvin surely didnt do him any favors by dropping him into CF to make room for what was initially Counsell/Graffy and then Edward Butcherhands.
