    If there's a delay, how tough would it be to contact Stearns, Boone's agent or Boone himself to find out what the hold-up is? That is what these guys are getting paid for. And you know this hasn't happened? Sometimes nothing is being reported because there's nothing to report.

    I'm bummed about that too. I heard that he's moving to LA to try to write TV shows. Seems like he's leaving sports talk radio altogether. SVP & Russillo was my all-time favorite show, and Ryen was great on his own. That was the only show I listened to anymore on ESPN Radio. I'm sure they'll fill that spot with 3 hours of #HOTTAKEZ!!

    That's an important point that I think a lot of people overlook (I know I did). We've been hearing about Ortiz for years, even before he was in Milwaukee's system. I was shocked to realize again that he's only 21.

    I'm continually confused about what how many "aces" or "TOR starters" people think there are in MLB. Between the Archer discussion and this comment, people are really boiling this down to pretty much Kershaw. Last year, there were only 11 guys in all of MLB that had 200 IP and a sub-4 ERA. Wouldn't that, by definition, qualify as TOR?

    This is a great idea for a collection! I also had to look up the Dan Thomas story, that's a tragic one.

    I agree. I love the offer we're discussing, but I think Tampa could easily say "we don't need four guys, how about just Brinson or Hader?" Looking at the salaries that Chatwood and Minor got makes you realize how much demand there is for pitching. Someone's getting left out of the Lynn/Cobb/Arietta race, which will make the demand for trade targets insane.

    I would do that in a heartbeat. It's a minor impact to the current major league team and only includes one pitcher (and Ortiz would be my choice to trade). You're selling high on Harrison, which I think they should do, since OF is a position of depth within the organization. With Diaz, you're betting that Hiura is the long term answer at 2B - he and Diaz very likely won't both be on the major league team, and while it would be nice to let it play out to see which one develops better, if you can parlay one into Archer now, do it.

    I'll endorse the Vegas idea. The drive is great - Hoover Dam (crank up the Bob Mould!) & a bunch of unspoiled desert. My preferred trip is to fly to Phoenix, catch a few games, drive to Vegas for a few nights, fly home from there. I've done it for the AFL and Spring Training and would definitely do it again.

    Stearns just said Nelson needed repair to labrum and will miss "a chunk" of 2018. Ugh.

    Watt Week 2 - two assisted tackles, while King played pretty well against one of the best WRs in the league.

    I loved summer baseball in high school. No worries about weather, you could still play a spring sport, and I think one summer I didn't even get a summer job, so it was pretty much nirvana to a high school kid - baseball & sleeping in, with nights free. It does hurt numbers however, and school and fan support is pretty much non-existent over the summer so a switch to spring is probably inevitable at some point.

    My wife got free tickets through the girl scouts yesterday. I wonder if that's related? Our little league just sent out an email about free tickets as well.

    forgive my ignorance, is his 2 biggest black marks on him 2 bad hits while with the niners? i had to google today what character flaws people were freaking out over. Actually, it is sexual battery.     I only use Facebook to post pictures of my kids and make lame dad jokes. I have several friends whom I've set to "unfollow." We're still friends, but their posts don't show up on my feed. Every so often, when I need some entertainment, I'll go to their page and binge-read their crazyness. That setup works for me.

    My ex-wife just called to tell me that our 8-year old just got bit by a dog & likely needs stitches. The woman who owns the dog downplayed it by saying that the dog doesn't like kids his size. Okay lady, how about not letting your dog run free in a residential neighborhood then?!

    So let me get this straight...Stearns had no intention of keeping Scooter on the roster, and decided to just DFA him without even trying to trade him? Wouldn't the more likely scenario be that 29 other GMs viewed Scooter the same way - as a platoon, 2B-only player that was not worth giving up anything?

    Just one example, but Keith Law has said for years that he thinks Hader is a bullpen arm.
