  1. The problem with the "big game" talk is that there is a "this is a HUGE series" post before EVERY SERIES!
  2. There is some hope today... The Venezuelan righthander [Zambrano] has dropped three straight home starts to fall to 2-6 with a 4.55 ERA at Shea Stadium this year.
  3. I'd rather be in a six tam division in the NL than a 5 team division in the AL.
  4. hmmm. another game where we outhit the opposition and LOSE. I am beyond words. It's the 8th. We haven't lost the game nor has the hit colum been decided as of now. honestly, there are some weird people here.... let me rephrase it is the 8th inning we are losing and we have outhit the opposition.... as usual if that continues through the nineth then we LOST and outhit the opposition jeez No. You said LOSE. "Another game where we outhit the opposition and lose." The statement did not start with an IF. It was declarative. Man, NORMAL PEOPLE can really irk us weirdos.
  5. hmmm. another game where we outhit the opposition and LOSE. I am beyond words. It's the 8th. We haven't lost the game nor has the hit colum been decided as of now.
  6. the bats can't be one inning wonders today.
  7. What doesn't make sense to me is that many of the players mentioned are valid arguments while others are not. Then later it was said to be a joke. Was Weeks being a bad fielder a joke? No.
  8. Geoff Jenkins has 5 errors in right field. Jamey Wright has a better chance of throwing a no hitter than Jenks does of catching three consecutive pop flys You can't be serious. Consider the great catches he has made (including that one that was either against the Cubs or Yankees I think. Two outs and he put it away to win the game) and so many OF assists. Of the last 3 Crew games I've been to, he threw a strike to home plate on a Sac Fly vs. the Nationals to keep our 1 run deficit in the extra inning balk game, and he through a bullet to 3rd on a Sac Fly against the D-Backs to cut their inning short and propel a 6 run 7th. His glove has saved us A LOT more than those 5 errors have cost us. Can't catch 3 consecutive pop flys? Who have you been watching? I'm talking about the guy who went over 162 games over two seasons WITHOUT an error.
  9. "It's a must win!" Yeah....well......that's like.....your opinion...man.
  10. "24-19 in July. Soon to be 25-19" What? When did July add so many days, or so many doubleheaders that I missed? I believe that we are 13-9 in July (I think. That was done in my head)
  11. Oswalts numbers against us weren't as dominating as I thought they would be, though last year he seemed to own us. CAREER ERA W L G CG IP H R ER HR BB K AVG 4.33 6 4 11 1 68.2 68 33 33 6 20 64 .263 2004 ERA W L G CG IP H R ER HR BB K AVG 3.04 3 1 4 1 26.2 27 9 9 1 6 25 .262
  12. However, the people just ripping into the Brewers and saying they're "done with them" should go to the Cubs fan site. Actually Cubs fans take losing a lot better. "There's always next year" is what you hear. For us it seems "there's always yesterday. And we sucked." Unless we win 4 straight, then it's all caps "BELIEVE!!! and CREW FOREVER'S!!!!" and such. I just meant for them to go to the Cubs site in order to get off of this one.
  13. It's a valid point, but the odds of Miller bunting into a double play or not bunting effectively (leading to a forceout at third) were just as likely as someone hitting into a DP if Miller loaded the bases somehow. I know it's happened, but the odds of a bunt DP the same as a swing? C'mon. And if you trust Miller so much to swing the bat, you have to assume he can lay one down. That's because we wouldn't. I did address that. If Miller gets on with nobody out, two ground balls would tie the game I have a hard time with the fact that you think 2 groundballs with no doubleplays would happen. Besides, if Miller would have bunted with1 strike, we have 2nd and 3rd. He didn't. He struck out. How was a Texas Leaguer going to bring in the three runs we needed to win? Did you have a Texas League inside the park HR in mind? NOT WIN. TIE. That was the immediate goal right? I know I said win in an earlier post. Look at the very next post 1 minute later. I corrected myself.
  14. The number of people who are "fed up" with this team and still post at "brewerFAN dot net" is astounding to me. Either some people simply like to revel in misery or like to get all fired up to tell people "I TOLD YOU SO". Either way, I'm not sure what it adds to the conversation. Constructive criticism is awesome, but "the brewers stink and they will always stink" is simply flailing. A 5-game skid capped by a game lost in a heartbreaking fashion is pretty miserable... but if you're not open-minded enough to find hope in anything regarding the Brewers, I don't know why you're here. I hear you Square. Through thick and thin. Constructive is good, as I don't mind going back and forth with Bruce about bunt strategy. That's fine with me. However, the people just ripping into the Brewers and saying they're "done with them" should go to the Cubs fan site. 53% of you are ticking me off.
  15. Bruce, You never responded to the double play chance (you said we hit it on the ground religiously) or that without the bunt we'd need 2 hits instead of 1 or the fact that you said when Miller struck out we'd need an error or the opposition to throw a "fatty" for us to win, when I said if he had bunted, all we would need is a Texas Leaguer. Managers have charts about what works what percent of the time. The reason managers bunt is because history has STATISTICALLY shown that this is the way to go. Success rates shoots up. Only Art Howe has disagreed, and I've watched him get fired plenty.
  16. Bruce, You haven't responded to any of my 3 or 4 posts about the bunting situation, so I guess I'll stop posting them. I will point out, though, that your original comment: Bunting when down by two? Who's the moron that thought of that? It kind of gets contradicted later when you admit that most managers would agree with bunting,
  17. How about we put the fans on notice. The Brewers always have had the handicap of not having that Fenway, Wrigley, or Yankees vibe behind them; but now it's getting pathetic. Didn't Attanasio say he would make the commitment if fans showed that they would too? With even the people who are supposedly the Biggest Brewer fans (people on this sight) giving up on them; they might as well give up too. It seems that you can fit in one section at Miller Park, the fans who still want to see the Crew. I'M ONE OF THEM. The Brewer's filled their obligation to me a number of years ago when they agreed to stay in Milwaukee. They also agreed to give me 162 games to watch/listen to each year. Including 81 in my own backyard. So here's my notice to them. Stay right here. I'll still watch you. Even at 0-162.
  18. I might have to make a conscious effort to jump off this bandwagon and get a new hobby because this is pointless with this crew. I hate to beat a dead horse, but I have never been part of any Brewer bandwagon (I live in Wisconsin and see Cubs fans all over the place). I've loved this team as an individual (one who got made fun of for liking them while growing up). If it's the winning "bandwagon" people want, go to the Packer fan page. There will be plenty of room on a "bandwagon" when the Crew starts winning. But us diehards will have the best seats because we built it.
  19. Wrong. If Miller loads the bases, a fielder's choice and a sac fly would be enough to tie the game. Heck, two groundouts would get the job done, and groundouts appear to be a specialty of this team. YES. Groundouts are a specialty of this team. Overbay, Lee, and Miller are not fast (Lee is marginal). Groundballs plus lack of speed equals double play.
  20. am just about done with this team. I can't take it anymore. I am have never such a bunch of ineptitude. Yost has to go. Melvin hasn't fielded this bad a team. Something is wrong with the way these guys are preparing. Yost needs to be the guy to go. With this line of thinking, the Yankees should be firing Joe Torre soon. I've loved the Crew my whole life and I'm not stopping now. Everytime I watch. listen, or go to a Brewer game, I'm not watching it to win the National League Pennant; I'm watching it to win that game. Mark these words: SOMEDAY THE CREW WILL GET TO THE PROMISED LAND, AND PEOPLE WILL EITHER EAT THEIR WORDS OR ACT LIKE THEY NEVER SAID THEM. Fan till the day I die. Let's win tomarrow.
  21. About the only chance the team had after he struck out was for the Dodgers to screw up in the field, or for the pitcher to throw out a fatty for someone to hit out of the yard. Exactly. A base hit wouldn't have won it. The tying run was still on 1st. A bunt allows a Texas Leaguer to win it.
  22. If you don't bunt you need 2 base hits. If you do bunt you need 1. He didn't bunt after the first pitch. He struck out.
  23. Ugh. Bunting when down by two? Who's the moron that thought of that? It's the same as being down 1 with a guy at first;seeing that he is the tying run and bunting successfully would mean a base hit wins it.
