  1. Matos was the Giants 7th ranked prospect going in 2023. MLB Pipeline gave him a 60 grade hit tool. Hasn't shown that in the big leagues but maybe there is something there. Actually he was their 3rd ranked prospect in 2022 just ahead of.... Kyle Harrison
  2. Bednar is a guy I really wanted. Experienced closer with an additional year of control for a NYY package that is headlined by a prospect the equivalent of Eric Bitonti.
  3. Would really like a back-end reliever ideally with closing experience (Bednar?). If not do we think that come playoff time Miz will be used in a 1-inning relief role? Kwan is a better/right handed version of Sal. Perfect fit for what the Brewers are, but whose AB's is he taking.

  5. Seems pretty likely the Brewers will either: 1) Move to Quero as early as next offseason or more likely before 2027 and trade Contreras for a nice return 2) If Quero does not bounce back from injury (or give Brewers confidence in being productive starting C), hold onto Contreras through his Arb years like Adames and start over in 2028.
  6. Even with the extra picks I assume they will go under slot with the first pick (and probably another of the early picks too). The guy they pick at 20 may be rated lower than the guy they take at 32. On the flip side they could really open up some interesting possibilities with all the cap space they will have.
  7. Hence why I am only slightly disappointed. I have faith that the Brewers have a good plan in place and are executing it.
  8. Maybe I am wrong but it seems like every year until potentially 2025, the Brewers signed at least 1 guy ranked in the teens (or at least low 20's). Slightly disappointed that the highest ranked prospect we are expected to sign is at #35. I can't argue with the success the Brewers have had the last few years with the International signings so I have faith the Brewers are getting the guys they want.
  9. That is what I was thinking. The Brewers never have spent much Intl $$ on pitching (and it shows). The position players this year in the DSL have been outstanding. Watching that group combined with the HS Arms we have drafted will be something.
  10. Dreaming on the marriage of the DSL position players and the HS Pitchers we have drafted. The Arizona Complex team is going to be something in 2025.
  11. 1980. Sixto Lezcano wins it with a grand slam in the bottom of the ninth. I was in middle school but remember listening to Uecker make the call. Overall 1980 was a slight disappointment. Coming of 93 & 95 win seasons in '78 & '79, expectations were high but they finished with 86 wins (17 GB in the pre-Wild Card era). That disappointment led to Dalton making a big splash in the offseason bringing in Fingers, Vuke and Simmons, which led to the playoffs in '81 & '82.

  13. Now that the Burnes saga is over, it is time for Matt Arnold to finish what he has started and make the below transactions. BTV is not the gospel but is usually pretty close with these trades so I am using their values. Trade W.Adames (11.1) to Dodgers for N.Frasso RHP (11.0) Trade D.Williams (19.8) to Royals for C.Wallace 3B (8.0), F.Mozzicato LHP (5.2), B.Kurda RHP (2.7) & Round A competitive balance pick (4) Sign T.Bauer to a 1 year prove it deal or 1 plus an option You have replaced Burnes with 2 guys to pencil into the rotation (Bauer & Frasso) You have replaced 1 year of Adames with 6 years of Ortiz You have replaced 2 years of Williams with 6 years of DL Hall (who I think will become a dominant closer not a starter) And you have picked up 3 prospects from the Royals who are not in the top 100 but are in the next 100 as well as two 2024 draft picks in the mid 30's.
  14. Agree. Assuming Burnes is traded we need to add at least 1 veteran SP. Bauer could be great value for the money. Of course I doubt Mark A. has the testicular heft to allow that signing given the potential bad PR (whether deserved or not).
  15. Just want to point out how quickly out of date prospect lists can get. The trade was the #15 & #27 Brewers prospect (via MLB Pipeline) for Dunn who was not on the Phillies list. I wonder who will take the two new spots on the Brewers list.
  16. With Woodruff news today I am all in on tearing down (I was leaning that way even before today). The last 6 years have been great. The best 6 year window the franchise has ever had. That window is now closed. It is time to build a team for a '26 - '30 window. Trade Burnes. Trade Adames. Trade Williams. Trade Peralta. Potentially trade Yelich (likely paired with Peralta) I'd focus on pitching as the return. Guys like: Snelling (SD), Frasso (LAD), Harrison/Whisenhunt (SF), Painter/Abel (Phi) Adding 2-3 of these guys (along with other pieces) to Miso, Ashby, Gasser, Rodriquez would give the Brewers a nice chance of having a strong 1-3 rotation by '26. Let the position prospects prove what they can or can not do in '24-25 and then fill in where needed with the payroll space that will be available.
  17. With a Burnes trade I would like "another bite of the apple" as it pertains to bringing back pitching. i.e. I want at least two pitchers coming back. I would jump at a Padres trade that gave us Snelling, Adam Mazur and Graham Pauley (not big on Martorella) with which would be a similar return to the original Padres proposal above.

  19. JJ Hardy is a really good comparable to the struggles Turang has experienced so far. I almost forgot how badly Hardy hit at first. Through June of his rookie year Hardy's line was .182/.290/.264. That is really awful. Hardy picked it up in the second half and ended the year at .247/.327/.384 helped by OPSing at .949 in the month of September. Not sure if Turang can get his numbers up to Hardy's final rookie numbers (especially without as much power as Hardy had) but he seems to be slowly getting better and looks like he wont be a hole in the lineup the remainder of the year.
  20. Hey did you guys know Miller is a Wisconsin kid. Don't know why the media types never brought it up.
  21. With his somewhat short stature and lighting quick bat my comp for Chourio would be Gary Sheffield. Sheffield was called up at 19 for the last month of the '88 season and put up .238/.295/.400 numbers. He followed that up in '89 with a line of ..247/.303/.337 in 368 AB's. It wasn't until his age 23 season in '92 when he became the almost HOF player he ended up being. I think Chourio should get off to a better start of his career than Sheffield did but sometimes the tortoise wins the race.

  23. Mike Petriello, tweeted this and I can't stop thinking about it: "why wouldn't the A's just...take Contreras" This is a fascinating point.
  24. I keep refreshing this page and twitter to see if/when the other shoe drops. I won't believe this trade until the Brewers officially announce it.
  25. How about Eric Lauer and Garrett Mitchell for Arraez.
