  1. And we traded from an area of extreme depth in SP and RP. Rasmussen in general was an extreme injury risk, so the fact he had a major injury after leaving is not at all surprising.
  2. When you know you're not actually going to use your A-pen you shouldn't be playing for 1 run. If Devin Williams or Trevor Megill were pitching the 9th sure, but Enoli Paredes was.
  3. B-Tier is too low for the Adames trade. Adames has put up 13.2 fWAR since that trade which is 22nd most among position players in that time. Rasmussen and Feyereisen have put up 6.8 fWAR since that trade. Adames remains highly underrated by this fanbase and that's just his on the field value not even factoring in what he means in the clubhouse.
  4. Only mistake was trying to get 3 innings out of Herget after he threw 2 innings on Friday. Our A-pen needed a day.
  5. I looked at it earlier this week and since 2021 Freddy has gone 6 IP in under 50% of his starts compared to Burnes and Woodruff both being above 70%. All 3 of these guys have very good stuff, Burnes is a legit ace. Woodruff when healthy is an ace. Freddy just lags behind.
  6. Freddy to me has ace level stuff but without the consistency and efficiency of an ace.
  7. Not a good start from Freddy but getting through 5 IP after going 43 pitches in inning 1 was pretty big for the pen.
  8. An ACL game has broke out in Zebulon today. Carolina has blown the 10-2 lead and are down 11-10 going into the bottom of the 7th. 9 BB, 1 HBP, 3 WP, 5 errors for the Mudcats pitching/defense today.
  9. When you factor in league adjusted stats it's pretty identical to last season, but he's pitching way better than he was at this point last season. Freddy through 11 starts last year - 105 ERA-, 107 FIP-, 101 xFIP- Freddy through 11 starts this year - 90 ERA, 86 FIP-, 80 xFIP-
  10. Nobody calls a #2 SP mid rotation
  11. He's just not an ace. Lacks the consistency and inning eating to be an ace, but man people need to actually look at other MLB rotations if they think Freddy is a mid-rotation SP.
  12. It's one freaking game. If Contreras goes 0-5 at the plate today is he suddenly an average starting C?
  13. 2021 - 22nd in fWAR 2022 - injured 2023 - 29th in fWAR 2024 - 28th in fWAR A top 30 SP is only mid-rotation if there were 10 teams in the MLB
  14. Freddy has the 5th highest K-rate among qualified MLB pitchers this year...pretty dang impressive for a guy who doesn't have a strikeout pitch.
  15. Calling Freddy a mid-rotation guy is crazy talk. He's not an ace, but saying he's mid rotation is fiction.
  16. Carolina cools off in the 3rd inning only putting up 2 runs. 10-2 Carolina through 3.
  17. He came into this year at 1.040 service time, so he needs 132 days of service time to complete his second year of team control. Estimated mid-June return would have him returning with about 80 days of service time this year. That leaves about 52 days he would need to be up in the MLB from mid-June return to the end of the year to hit 2 years service time.
  18. Carolina really wants the 6 game sweep. 8 runs through 2 innings on 8 hits (7 singles, 1 double), 3 BB, 1 HBP. 8-1 Mudcats through 2 innings.
  19. Contreras going from not even in the lineup to catching today seems a bit unnecessary. Why not DH with Sanchez catching?
  20. Junk isn’t fully stretched out at this point so that’s really a bullpen game and our pen is not fresh enough to do a bullpen game.
  21. All is fine. Just allowed him to get his 5th strikeout. Dominant from Yoho.
  22. Craig Yoho is ready for AAA. Send him up there already. EBJ ruins his 6 up, 6 down on what should have been a routine ground ball to SS.
  23. Craig Yoho still waiting to get challenged. His first AA inning is a 1-2-3 inning with 2 strike outs and a lazy fly ball to LF
  24. Should clarify in the 3rd and 4th inning, but still crazy how much his velo shifts start to start and even within starts.
  25. Rough day for Blalock and Woessner. Woessner in particular has turned back into the 2023 version of himself where his velo fluctuates like crazy start to start. His fastballs were sitting 90-91 today
