  1. Caleb Boushley was seen in the clubhouse so seems the rumors of him debuting this weekend are true. I imagine he might be the starter on Saturday
  2. I love that the Cardinals lost this game after intentionally walking Contreras to get to Tyrone. You'd think a team mathematically eliminated from the playoffs and nothing to play for would let their young LHP face a tough RHH in a tough spot especially if the plan for said LHP is still to be a SP in the MLB. Can't just avoid good RHH as a SP.
  3. Tobias Myers is very intriguing, and I could deifnitely see giving him a 40-man spot. In his first AAA outing he threw 15 FB and had an IVB of 19.9 inches on those 15 FB. That's elite IVB. If he could touch 96-97 in a bullpen role there's potential for a good RP there with a FB with that IVB
  4. The way I see it is yeah Uribe only has about 30 innings but a RP averages what 60-65 IP over the course of a season? By the end of the year he will probably end up at about half of a RP season's worth of IP. A normal position player might have 550 PA in a season. Frelick (210 PA) and Mitchell (130 PA) are further away from 50% of a position player's season than Uribe is from a RP's season so why are they not still considered prospects?
  5. Yeah I'm not putting Uribe in my list. He's no longer considered a prospect according to the MLB, so no sense in keeping him on the list.
  6. I don't believe baseball savant's baserunning number has anything to do with steals. I think it's just down to taking extra bases on balls in play. Fangraphs BsR takes into consideration both SB success and taking extra base success and Acuna's BsR is 6.3 which is 14th in the MLB. That seems to back up Savant viewing his as an average baserunner because Acuna leads the MLB in SB yet is 14th in BsR.
  7. Chourio hits a hard liner (97 EV) to RF but it unfortunately didn’t find the gap. Nice swing from him.
  8. In his last 102 PA he has struck out 47 times. Don’t think I’ve ever seen someone slump this hard for this long. Doesn’t even look like the same guy from earlier this year.
  9. Both of Uribe’s pitches were entirely in the strike zone. Payamps just grazed the edge. Payamps pitch had been called a ball multiple times earlier in the game. In the 5th inning Soler was rung up on a clear ball 4 with 0 outs. Bell had a single in the next AB. Would have likely been 1st and 3rd with 0 outs and the Marlins up 4-0.
  10. The ump blew the call, but the ump was blowing calls all day. At least a few Marlins players were rung up on ball 4. It was a horrible ump performance. Who knows if the game is even 4-4 going into the bottom of the 8th if the ump had accurately called the game.
  11. I'd bet my lunch money that Mitchell makes the playoff roster. You're going to be carrying 14 or 15 position players in the WC and NLDS. Having Mitchell on the bench as a pinch runner makes a ton of sense. Perkins can stay as well.
  12. Caminero is Rule 5 eligible this offseason so not exactly the same situation as Black or Chourio.
  13. Yeah we play both the Marlins and the Cubs so winning against them would just help the Padres. Definitely rooting for the Reds although Hunter Greene looked dominant in his last outing.
  14. Yeah which has happened in the last week. Can it happen for another week? Padres sneaking in would be worst case scenario imo as they clearly have more talent than any potential team we would face in the WC round
  15. So Padres have won 7 in a row and have a pretty easy schedule to finish the season (vs Cards, @ Giants, @ White Sox). If Cubs hold on to lose the Padres would only be 4 games back of the WC3 spot. Could they potentially make this late season run?
  16. Very likely just a day off. He had last Thursday off as well.
  17. AAA has ABS for ball/strikes so no squeezing. He just wasn’t throwing strikes.
  18. Ashby with another rough rehab assignment. He got 2 outs on 26 pitches with 4 BB. Only 6 pitches were in the strike zone. Boushley gave up a grand slam after Ashby was pulled so Nashville is down 5-0 in the 1st. Ashby’s final line: 0.2 IP, 0 H, 4 ER, 4 BB, 0 SO. It’s been a very rough rehab assignment for him. 6 IP, 6 H, 12 R, 11 ER, 11 BB, 6 SO, 1 HBP. Honestly at this point I don’t think we should have any expectations for him in 2024. He has a long road ahead of him still to get back to being an MLB caliber pitcher.
  19. Correct. Magic number is 2 over the Marlins so a win over them would guarantee us to finish no worse than 6th in the NL.
  20. NOOOO...hopefully Sibrian will come back as a coach of some form.
  21. Looks like the Sounds get to face Alcantara tonight. Can't wait to see how Chourio fares against him.
  22. Wiemer seems like he's already totally chilled out his bat dip in just his second game in AAA. Just night and day difference.
