Dunn has flashed legit power so I don't think he's really comparable to Collins. I very much doubt Brewers make this trade for a guy with Collins offensive profile.
I didn’t want him either way but heck no now. Torn ACL, MCL, hamstring all at once is crazy. Hard to imagine he’s back to pre injury form at all in 2024.
Don’t think it really makes sense considering pitching is not currently looking like a strong suit for next year and I’d imagine the Reds want MLB ready pitching. Doubt we would trade Gasser for India.
I mean he's had 102 and 111 IP the last 2 years with some brief times where he didn't consistently pitch due to being in the bullpen/rotation no-man's land.
It definitely isn't enough trade value to justify the Brewers trading him.
Right now our rotation looks like this for 2024. Burnes/Peralta/Houser/Rea/Gasser or FA. With Burnes being a potential trade piece the Brewers do not remotely have the pitching depth to trade a guy like Houser.
Easy choice to tender him and bring him back. He doesn't have much trade value and at his arb 3 number is a bargain for the 120+ IP of league average-ish ERA he will give you.
I think they should/need to protect Tobias Myers. His FB has elite traits that would definitely play up in a bullpen role where his FB is sitting more upper 90’s than mid to lower 90’s.
I mean can they legally do that? With FO executives I thought you couldn't prevent them from interviewing for positions that would be promotions. I believe that was the whole reason we changed Stearns position from GM to POBO so the Mets/others couldn't interview him for POBO roles. Does that rule not apply for coaching staff members?
Ross definitely was not getting fired until Counsell agreed to take the job. Makes zero sense for the Cubs to decide to fire Ross a month after the season ends when 4 other managerial spots already were filled up.
Relative to revenue the Cubs are definitely cheaper than the Brewers. Top 5 revenue team in the sport and they rarely if ever are in the top 5 payrolls.
Well it appears that was always a lie as Verducci claims the Cubs job was a dream job for Counsell if he ever left the Brewers. He clearly isn't cut from the same cloth as us if that was the case.
I really do not get the love for Seitzer. Dude has strictly been a hitting coach his entire coaching career. Being a hitting coach is so far away from being the manager in terms of what your job entails. If you want Brewers to model their hitting development after the Braves you are better off poaching someone from their hitting development group to come run the Brewers hitting development rather than making Seitzer our manager where he won't be dealing with hitting coach duties.
