  1. I know he isn't on the 40-man roster but goodness, I think Eddys Leonard deserves a chance to see if he can continue to hit in the big leagues. He isn't part of future plans really, so if he doesn't come up and hit, really no harm done and could pivot to Jett or Pratt then after a month or so of ABs for Leonard. Could DFA Carlos Rodriguez as I don't think he makes it past this season anyway, has an ERA north of 8 in Nashville. We are 6+ weeks into the season and Leonard has an OPS above 1.000
  2. I don't think Collins is a great player but a serviceable guy who can play a starter role. I don't love trading for a relief pitcher for a (nearly) everyday, controllable position player (plus a reliever in Mears). I just think can get more than a RP for a starting position player. Just don't love that value. Can it work out sometimes? Sure.
  3. Been off the grid for a bit but two names I'd like to choose for picks to click and turn it around are Filippo Di Tuiri and Jaron DeBerry
  4. Crazy win by the Phillies tonight over the Pirates. Schwarber has 20 HRs....almost as much as the Brewers as a team lol. On pace for 73
  5. A B prospect who at the time was like the No. 2 prospect in the system
  6. It is because they needed length and guys to eat innings out of the pen. Pen worn down and pen was used a lot.
  7. Marquette stinks. Doesn't help the bigs are pretty horrendous. Hamilton is awful and Gold is Charmin sawft.
  8. I am personally surprised how many of you would trade multiple top prospects for Buxton. I am not clutching them but Buxton just isn't who I'd move a number of them for. As said earlier, I think to get off his salary the Twins would move him for much less than mentioned. No way Pena or Made. Even Pratt imo. However, if Ryan is included the package takes a dramatic increase and it's probably Pratt, Henderson, Boeve, maybe another lower prospect as well.
  9. Chourio has already shown he is not afraid of the big moment. Against the Dodgers, he is about the only regular who looks like he has a clue and hitting the ball hard.
  10. Yeah I think maybe a UTIL infielder type like Regnifo or Castro or something. Then a reliever on cheap maybe a vet starter for cheap are about the only deals for FA.
  11. Yeah I think the changes would be next year. I mean Ortiz OPS is under .600. The worst qualified hitter in MLB. So even 12 OAA isn't making up for that lol. I do think it's too late for drastic changes as this team has won 92 games now with 11 to go. I would, though, think if Turang can move to SS, Collins could play 2B and Durbin 3B or sign someone and have Ortiz be UTIL potentially next year. I thought Durbin would just be a good UTIL, he has shown he can be much more imo and likely could make a jump next year. I wouldn't be surprised by a Regnifo or cheap signing as a LHH option on the inf.
  12. I do think Ortiz has been pretty good just not to the extent like decent plays are made into unreal ones. He's a good SS but not to the extent where you can be this anemic offensively.
  13. First, what a phenomenal AB by Mona last night and rewarded with GW 1B. It really (started a couple weeks ago) started when Mona went on a terror with Joey O on injured list. Mona has been great in his opportunities this year and wondering if down the stretch here, if Mona might start? Joey O can come in if the Brewers have a lead kind of lake Perkins in OF. This team isn't short on great defenders and while the announcers for the Brewers try to say how phenomenal Joey is defensively, I feel they do that because of how bad he's been offensively. He is pretty good defensively but not close a GG or anything imo. He's been anemic at the plate. Mona has earned a spot similarly to Vaughn did when Hoskins was hurt. Mona has an OPS over .800. Ortiz is under .600, the lowest of any qualified hitter. Or is it too late in the season now to make a sizeable change to what the Brewers have been doing and keep things how they are?
  14. Yeah I wasn't too high on Cortes as he was MKE about 10th best starting option, however, trading prospect Quintana and cash in addition to Cortes for Lockridge was a bit surprising.
  15. Yeah what about the Nestor/prospect trade for Lockridge? Lockridge was better for us than in SD but was an odd trade as well.
  16. I didn't understand the Jansen trade then and he has sucked since the deadline acquisition. Has anyone had a worse deadline, trading for an at the time injured Shelby Miller who then blows out arm and Jansen who was inflated because he had 5 HR vs. LHP but was hitting around .200 vs LHP but had a high OPS because not that many ABs. Came back to Earth. I'd rather have Haase or Quero. Seigler could probably catch too but we won't see that until 26. Hoskins you have to think comes back up as well? The shine has worn off King Vaughn a bit (he was never going to keep his sizzling hitting up, obviously).
  17. and the guy McMahon that so many on here wanted plays half his games there and has never had an average season offensively. He is anemic on the road.
  18. I think the issue I have is that it was an overpay either way, not for the prospects but the $3M slot comp pick. I also don't understand it with options like Henderson, Mis, CRod (fine with a handful of starts when in need). They had options where they didn't need to overpay for Priester. So it would be great if he works out to be a 3-4 type pitcher but either way it was an overpay.
  19. Now with the addition of Quintana I really like the Brewers rotation. Woodruff won't get to your projected innings imo as he probably isn't ready until mid-May at some point but I could see the Brewers going with 6-man rotation when Woodruff returns. The lineup looks very good if healthy. Hoskins could have a big bounce back year - even though he hit 26 homers last year. Mitchell has the frame to hit for power, it's about hitting the ball in the air more, the ball bounces off his bat.
  20. I highly doubt he's ready to go by opening day. If he was a reliever, yeah. But not as a SP. I think he should be ready by mid-late April or early May. Can't wait for him to pitch and hope for a decent and healthy year! Huge Woodruff fan and don't want to get my hopes too high with the comeback it took just to get back. Hoping for a storybook type comeback season!
  21. One name I haven't seen much talk about is Jorge Polanco. He has played mostly exclusively 2B last couple of years but could play 3B as well. He was baaaad last year in SEA but still hit 16 homers. SEA, SF, DET are a few ballparks where bats go to die. Polanco in hitter-friendly AmFam could be a great rebound candidate and wouldn't likely cost much. Polanco hit 33 HRs in 2021 with a 125 OPS+ and the next two years OPS+ of 117, 112. He is a guy who could help make up for that power loss from Adames. He is likely an option if Turang is moved to SS (though I think Ortiz is the one at SS). Another name for me is JD Davis who was bad last year but has been solid in the past with a career OPS+ of 111.
  22. I honestly wouldn't move Quero for Casas or not that sweet of a package. I don't get the desire for him. I honestly think Quero - if shoulder heals well - could be the primary C if reports on his skills are true and Contreras can be DH as he gets older
  23. I would love for Black to get the opportunity if the club looks as currently constructed. The issue with Black is he has an odd skillset and by all accounts isn't good at any position. Also, DH is likely mostly going to be accounted for by Yeli, Contreras and Hoskins. Black I hope gets the Bauers role and potentially hit his way into DH ABs as well. I think Black can be a 20-30 guy at peak (not in 2025) but could be a 10-15 HR and 20 steal guy with Bauers like role.
  24. I think Kim is a possibility at 3B/SS. I could see a trade and maybe signing Goldschmidt. Not sure he has much left in the tank though. I also think Hoskins could have a major bounce back year now that he has a full season under his belt after the ACL tear. I think the Brewers should sign a SP for sure as there are a lot of options but a lot of question marks as well. Woodruff, how does shoulder respond and how many innings can you reasonably expect? Ashby and Hall both could be rotation guys but Ashby in particular I think is a pen guy. Go with young guys like Henderson/Rodriguez/Patrick to round out rotation? I would like to see another arm added to the mix a reliable starter.
  25. Not very likely the Brewers make 3 trades like that in one offseason. Would dig the Bohm deal. If they don't get a 3B via trade, I would try and sign Kim from the Padres to play 3B or SS and at least have the option to have Ortiz stay at 3B. Then I would like to sign a SP maybe to an incentive laden deal. Buehler is unlikely but I wonder what a Bieber off TJ surgery would get? I hope the Brewers inquire anyway but find a way to at least get a depth SP.
