  1. Hammond's allowed only one hit through 4 complete. Braun with a double for Brevard's only hit.
  2. My daughter was at the game the Miller pitched. She said he looks taller and lankier than the 6'0'' / 195 he's listed at. She said he was real impressive, just pounded the strike zone(8ks in 5 innings). He gave up a solo shot while I was on the phone with her, and she said he came back right away with strike one to the next hitter. No pictures sent to me yet, as her college team had a doubleheader today and a single game Saturday. I should have the photos by Sunday afternoon.
  3. She just called from the game, said Inman was hitting 92 on the gun pretty regular with a top of 96.
  4. My daughter attended last night's W. Virginia game and was going to send me a bunch of pictures. Still don't have 'em.
  5. Sollman has played 1st base already this year as well.
  6. Sorry Mass, I did not want to step on your toes, but I figured you were still out at the ol' ball yard.
  7. www.jsonline.com/watch/?watch=2&date=4/2/2006&id=4265 Here are the rosters for the Brewers' Class A teams: Brevard County Manatees: Josh Allison, Ryan Braun, Carlos Corporan, Nestor Corredor, Carlos De La Cruz (dl), Alcides Escobar, Travis Ezi, Charlie Fermaint, Yovani Gallardo, Jeremy Hall, Steve Hammond, Hernan Iribarren, David Johnson (dl), Mike Jones, Brenden Katin, Jeremy Lewis, Josh Murray, Freddy Parejo, Luismar Pena Haran Rasheed, Grant Richardson, Mark Rogers, Steve Sollmann, Ben Stanczyk, Joseph Thatcher, Josh Wahpepah.
  8. Well at least listening to the Royals feed, it was fun to listen to them rip Vizcaino as "the slowest working pitcher in the history of the earth." They spent about 3 minutes describing him as the most boring pitcher to watch in the bigs. Said that they wouldn't be suprised if the White Sox players all cheered when he went to the Diamondbacks, so they wouldn't fall asleep while he was pitching.
  9. Pop out and 2 ground outs to 2nd. 1-2-3 for Brandon Webb.
  10. Sheets to throw BP this weekend. Weeks looks good too. May play soon. Good news.
  11. Same ol' JDLR. 7 run lead and won't (or can't) throw strikes. Sacks drippin' on a hit and 2 walks.
  12. By the way (and I know you're all wondering) it was a total of 20 "and that"s. But it can't be ruled as official because I lost the feed for over 2 minutes. Bummer. I had a pitch counter and everything.
  13. Kolb has a solid 1-2-3 inning. Nice.
  14. 2 unearned runs on a bad play by Hall with 2 down. Another run when Jenkins goes for a shoestring catch with 2 outs and it turns out to be a triple. Next guy singles. He struck out 7 of the first 9. He had 2 down with no one out in the 3rd. A pop up that should have been caught, then a double, then Hall's error. Ohka should have been out of the inning twice. A lot of little things, like the pop up that lands between Gross and Hardy while they are standing there looking at each other. Little things that won't happen in the regular season.
  15. Mark A now on. How cool is this? They were talking about Rottino, and MA mentioned Vinnie was one of the first guys that caught Robin Yount's eye. Big compliment. Talking about what a big positive effect Robin is already having on the young players. Mentioned that the national press is starting to pay more attention to the Brewers (Sports Illustrated is there today.) The LED board is over a thousand feet long and they are pretty excited about it. Says the picnic area is really cool. You're right on the field. 10 - 5 now with Thompson pitching.
  16. Big focus on 27 outs with the bat. Caught stealing or double plays, or bad base running that gives away an out is the same as a turnover in football. Villanueva has really caught DM's attention, compares him to Doug Davis. Says he just gets people out. They like him a lot. That's it. 2 more "and that"s. What's the total? 10 to 4 crew at this point. Man the Rangers need pitching.
  17. Feed's back. Weeks seems good hitting off the tee today, but won't see any action this week. This can be a real pesky injury, so they are being overly careful. Looks like JDLR will not be passed thru wavers. They're happy with Eveland and Jackson waiting in AAA should they need another starter. Koskie told DM that Koskie was real impressed with JDLR in the WBC. Looks like they will again try to give JDLR meaningful innings early in the year to see if his great talent will "click". He really like Gross, but is waiting for him to step up and play even better. Justin Thompson has pitched extremely well, but does take longer to recover from a start than others. Does not look like a reliever. Thompson will give it one more year, if it works, he'll stick, if not he's going to retire. Justin Lehr throws several pitches and they are starting to think that he may be a starter, but if he's a reliever, he will keep using more of his repetoire. 9-4 Crew. 9 more "and that"s.
  18. Bits from DM. - He really likes Fernandez' versatility. Sheets looked real good today, was bouncing around with alot of energy, but they are guarded in their optimism. Sorenson's versatilty is his big opportunity to make the roster. Abernathy has a real strong bat, can play 2 spots. Emphasis is leaning toward more players that have a lot of versatility because of the way past injuries have affected the Brewers and as DM becomes more familiar with the National League. Really pleased with Koskie's bat and is impressed with his consistent, strong accurate throw to 2nd base. (Koskie homers to left just as DM is talking about his opposite field power.) AHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!! My feed just dropped. And we were only up to 9 "and that's" (unofficial count. I'll wait for the official "and that" count to come in the the box score.
  19. Gabe Gross with a MONSTER home run. 6-4. DM next inning.
  20. Good outing for Ohka today. Real sharp thru 5 innings.
  21. Jenkins with a double, but score stays 5-4.
  22. 5-3. Jenks misses a shoestring catch for a triple with 2 outs and DeRosa drives him in. I can't wait for DM to sit down with Sutton during the broadcast. They had their big roster shaping pow wow this morning and we should hear some scoops. Sutton mentioned Krynzel and Hendrickson sent down today. Rocket for a single. Sac fly. 5-4.
