2024 Minor League Transaction Thread
Jim Goulart replied to Jim Goulart's topic in Brewers Minor League Talk
Don't sweat it. I'll do a better job of moving posts around in the future. It's really not all that many, it was just this specific thread. (By the way, how many readers saw there was a new post in the transaction thread, came over, and saw only your post above as new?) Kind of what I'm talking about. Not easy to police and not the end of the world. -

Sunday 8/25: Postgame shows after the -3 loss in Oakland - Via WTMJ: Dom Cotroneo hosts Via 97.3's "Baseball Postgame Show" - Tim Allen hosts Locked on Brewers with Chuck Freimund - "The Brewers Stay in the Hunt of the Phillies and Dodgers!" Via the Journal Sentinel Podcast: "Microbrew co-host Curt Hogg stopped by the Nashville Sounds this week and spoke to Jacob Misiorowski and Craig Yoho, two potential contributors down the stretch for a team on a path to the playoffs. How soon will they be here, if they indeed arrive? Curt and host JR Radcliffe look back at a 3-3 week, with an excellent return for a forgotten bullpen option, some concern for Nick Mears and a couple high-wire acts for Devin Williams, including one that added badly. Were the guys wrong about how valuable Frankie Montas could be? Three Up Three Down talks a big-man triple and an eye-popping throw from the outfield. Remembrew When re-visits some Brewers-A's history and Curt Blanche takes issue with an umpire." Latest Milwaukee Tailgate Podcast - "On this week's show, Ryan returned to discuss where the Brewers stand in the Central and in the NL race overall, bullpen management issues and how the personnel might change there going forward, Mitchell vs Frelick, and more." -

There was nary a victory on the Brewers farm on Saturday. Heck, Nashville and Wisconsin lost by a combined 17-1 tally. While Biloxi and Carolina were certainly more competitive, those two teams combined for just eleven hits. This morning's Link Report will still feature each of the affiliate official game summaries, which, as you know, we always encourage you to review, and you'll always find interesting nuggets within the media notes that three of the clubs provide. The report may be light on additional details today, but I do want to make a case for what I perceive to be an under-appreciated source of player information and insights: Image courtesy of BrewerFanatic The audio interview archives. I have always contended that we as fans and Brewers' prospect followers will always learn more within the five-to-seven minute pre- or postgame chats than we would through any game summary or prospect ranking article. Whether it's learning what modifications a pitcher is making, or the thoughts of a player on the day-to-day grind of a season, or simply getting to know a young man's background better, why wouldn't we all find time to listen to the linked interviews we provide on our forum regularly? (Focus on the "Your Teamname" threads). A highlight of my week is the Monday release of Jeff Hem's Nashville pre-game interviews from the just-completed prior series. Jeff is so dang smooth and has to be on a short list for the rare broadcast opportunities throughout MLB. Biloxi's Javik Blake brings his youthful exuberance to each and every chat - he manages to work the word "fun" into most conversations, and rightly so. How many of you listened to him speak with Acting Manager Fidel Pena via our linked post this week. If you did, you learned why Brock Wilken's lengthy consecutive games streak was recently halted - Brock's a new Dad! (You didn't read that in a game summary.) What can we say about Wisconsin's production value? What other MiLB club is releasing full-length podcast analysis after the majority of home games, including interview subjects? Kyle Lobner's "T-Rat Talk" feature articles provide fantastic background. And we're hopeful that the 2026 move to the new Carolina ballpark in Wilson will lead to a more comprehensive media presentation there, we'll see. Point being, don't just gloss over the audio-related posts on our Minor League Forum or when you come across the affiliate posts on "X". They will always be worth your time. Transactions: N/A Nashville Pre-Game Media Notes Final: Jacksonville (Marlins) 10, Nashville 1 Box Score and Game Log Via the Sounds’ website, game details, and we encourage readers to review affiliate write-ups as part of their Link Report routine: Misiorowski, and Yoho Toss Scoreless Innings, Sounds Fall to Jacksonville - Nashville needs win to clinch series tomorrow after 10-1 loss Especially late in the season, the MLB and AAA storylines are so intertwined, perhaps not more so within the big league landscape currently than between Milwaukee and Nashville. A doubleheader next Friday in Cincinnati will mean the availability of a 27th man roster spot, if only for a day. The September 1st expansion to 28 players (from 26) and 14 pitchers (from 13) is making for quite the discussion topic. DL Hall did himself no favors on Saturday. Neither did LH reliever Tyler Jay in the quest to maintain a 40-man roster spot. Meanwhile -- It's going to be fascinating down the stretch with this Brewers roster, folks. Absolutely fascinating! Congrats to Brewer Hicklen on his 40th stolen base! But why do I feel it has as much relevance as Tyler Black's 55 thefts in 2023? Just doesn't translate to the highest level cleanly. Apples, meet oranges? Biloxi Pre-Game Media Notes Final: Birmingham (White Sox) 3, Biloxi 2 Box Score and Game Log Shuckers Drop Heartbreaker to Barons in Walk-Off Loss - Hunt strikes out seven in longest start of the season with Biloxi, Warren records multi-hit night Pretty sure that if any one of the Milwaukee farm teams had a walkoff steal of home, they would post video of it. Yet Birmingham lazily did not (or any video for that matter, must be college football season and all the cameras were pre-occupied). Anyhow, perhaps it's for the better that we didn't see that unfortunate ending. We can count on Javik however, even for road contests, to oblige on the positive. Go to the club's "X" feed for two additional clips beyond this one: Hunt (WHIP at 0.98 in three AA starts) couldn't quite hold the rare 2-0 lead he was provided, yet still shined with seven K's vs. 1 BB over 5.2 frames. We may lament the lack of firepower in the Shuckers' lineup, but we've tried to impress upon you that it's a Southern League thing. Biloxi is actually second in the eight-team league in OBP at .329. The team is 4th in batting average at .229, 3rd in OPS at .671. You can have your own click fun with the sortable columns here. Time is growing short for Eric Brown, Jr. to find any semblance of goodness in what his 2024 numbers will be. A bit of a head-scratcher... Brock Wilken has five walks in his last four games (but no base hits). Wisconsin Pre-Game Media Notes (download link) NOTE: Those are actually notes for Sunday's game - Chris is up early this morning! Final: Great Lakes (Dodgers) 7, Wisconsin 0 Box Score and Game Log Rattlers Shut Out By Great Lakes - Wisconsin held to two hits in 7-0 loss Hey, remember Friday's 14-1 Rattlers win? Yeah, this wasn't that. Thank you, Great Lakes, for following Birmingham's lead and not posting any celebratory video. Wisconsin had a mini–All-Star Team on its bench for this one - Cooper Pratt, Blake Burke, Luke Adams, Jadher Areinamo, Ramon Rodriguez. Saturday's lineup managed two singles, a walk and an HBP. Mound wise, RHP Ryan Birchard still rounding into early form for him, only one hit and no runs allowed through three innings - four walks, six K's. Fireballing Yerlin Rodriguez' line looks pretty, but he could not strand two inherited runners for Bayden Root, when a lone out would have done so. With an off-day Monday, we can anticipate more nursing of boo-boo's on Sunday, we'll see once the lineups are announced, Final: Augusta (Braves) 5, Carolina 3 Box Score and Game Log Augusta Rallies Past Mudcats A 3-2 lead heading to the 7th was not maintained. A leadoff walk, a one-out infield single (though it was a line drive), a double that scored two, but the second run was the result of a throwing error by LF Yhoswar Garcia, his 7th miscue on the season. Carolina was 0-for-2 with a man on 2nd base in the 7th and went down in order in the final two innings. Hello to 21-year-old Venezuelan RHP Gerson Calzadilla, that sporty 0.00 Mudcats ERA might have caught your box score reviewing eye. This was his second appearance of the week after he opened the season on the 60-day IL, and then struggled in three of four July Maryvale games before his return to full-season ball. Calzadilla dazzled in Maryvale in 2023, then saw action in two August games with Carolina, where he was placed on the IL late that month. So, it's likely he was sidelined nearly 11 months if that was the initial injury date. Knock wood, it seems RHP Bishop Letson, like teammate Josh Knoth, is going to make it through 2024 unscathed, though Letson's appearance schedule has seen slight gaps whereas Knoth's weekly outings have been paced like clockwork. Unless an injury clearly happens during game action, the affiliate announcers will very rarely comment on it (and rightly so). Occasionally we may get hints out of Appleton home games within recorded postgame comments from Manager Victor Estevez, but that's about it. I promise you that if any of the primary Link Reporters or contributors have information regarding an injury or any absence, we will present it within these forums. -
2024 Minor League Transaction Thread
Jim Goulart replied to Jim Goulart's topic in Brewers Minor League Talk
I'll post this again, as I did a couple of weeks back in this very thread. I have the ability to move posts as well, but it's just a constant monitoring that's difficult to keep up with. This thread shouldn't be 23 pages long. *** While we appreciate the enthusiasm, it's preferred if the Transaction Thread is limited to the actual transaction moves. There are multiple other threads where discussion points can be posted, from the current prospect voting results thread, the Midseason Prospect Rankings thread, to the "Your _____ Team Threads": Nashville Biloxi Wisconsin Carolina Maryvale Thanks, we know it won't be perfectly maintained going forward, but your consideration will help. All the threads linked above can currently be found on Page One or Two of the Minor League Forum, so each has been updated recently. -

Outside of one wayward starting effort in Carolina, the arms on the mounds ruled the day on the Brewers' farm. It led to a 3-1 record among the affiliates, following up Thursday's undefeated evening. Image courtesy of BrewerFanatic Let's roll up our pitching sleeves and see how it all played out! Transactions: Nashville Sounds transferred 2B Noah Campbell to the Development List. Carolina Mudcats activated LHP Anfernny Reyes from the 7-day injured list. Nashville Pre-Game Media Notes - Unavailable for this date Final: Nashville 4, Jacksonville (Marlins) 1 Box Score and Game Log Via the Sounds’ website, game details, and we encourage readers to review affiliate write-ups as part of their Link Report routine: Sounds Simmer Jumbo Shrimp Behind Strong Outing by Pitching Staff - Mitch White tosses quality start, bullpen superb in Nashville’s 4-1 win over Jacksonville The MLB-caliber bullpen corps faced ten Jacksonville batters over the final three innings, only a leadoff HBP via Elvis Peguero in the 9th marred perfection late. Enoli Paredes (read Peguero/Paredes in parallel, both EP, five letters/seven letters) will be ready for the end of his rehab assignment, but what will the Brewers do to be able to keep the optionless Paredes? Aaron Ashby? Review these several consecutive posts via our Minor League Forum thread to get a sense of his relief dominance in this one. Good for starter Mitch White, we know that's the role he desires greatly. He knows he's pitching for 29 other teams down the stretch here, unless he and the Brewers agree to an unlikely reunion after the season. In the meantime, these are highly beneficial innings he's soaking up for the Sounds' staff. In one convenient video clip here, you'll see both Tyler Black's triple and his double, and when will this translate to his intermittent big-league AB's? Hopefully Black runs wild with XBH's galore down the stretch, because building trade value for this offseason may be the biggest benefit to the Brewers if Matt Arnold can get creative in that regard. In what's going to be a fascinating turn of events this October, a reminder that minor league free agent to be OF Carlos Rodriguez won't turn 24 years old until December. Through 13 games at AAA, Rodriguez is doing exactly what he always does: 2024 in Biloxi (84 games) - .298/.376/.396 (.772 OPS) 2024 in Nashville (13 games) - .292/.370/.375 (.745 OPS) Career - .294/.357/.385 (.742 OPS, 1663 AB's) Biloxi Pre-Game Media Notes Final: Biloxi 1, Birmingham (White Sox) 0 Box Score and Game Log Pitching Dominates in 1-0 Shutout Win for Shuckers over Barons - Five pitchers combine for shutout win, bullpen twirls seven shutout innings Sure, there's the occasional high-scoring affair, but my goodness, Southern League fans get their share of low-scoring contests. Somehow this game lasted two hours, 47 minutes, so at least the fans had their beer time. A combined 14 walks were part of the story, thankfully Biloxi only tossed five. The Shuckers "improved" to 2-7 in 1-0 games in 2024. Only 44 pitches for starting RHP Shane Smith, pulled after a single and walk to kick off the bottom of the 3rd inning? RH reliever Will Childers stranded both those runners and was one of the five Biloxi pitchers (each of them) to fan at least two batters despite throwing no more than two innings. Over 8,000 in Birmingham, a figure the Shuckers simply can't touch. Wisconsin Pre-Game Media Notes (download link) Final: Wisconsin 14, Great Lakes (Dodgers) 1 Box Score and Game Log Rattlers Rout Great Lakes - Wisconsin collects sixteen hits in 14-1 win over Loons Hoping you read the full game summary from Voice of the Rattlers Chris Mehring, A 5-1 game through seven innings, then stuff happened including the opponent position player mound work in the 9th. I'm going to copy and paste below another example of what makes Chris such an asset to our fandom. Road game, no video, Chris could have cruised in his write-up but took the time to detail this play: Tyler Wehrle gave up singles to Nevin and Jake Gelof with one out in the bottom of the sixth. He got the second out with a strikeout. He would get the final out by alertly covering the plate. The runners took off on a 1-1 pitch to Sean McClain. Nevin stopped and Gelof was hung up between first and second. Rodríguez, the Wisconsin catcher, threw behind Gelof to first base. Hall ran Gelof towards second and flipped the ball to Vargas, who began running Gelof back to first with no one covering the base. Meanwhile, Nevin had rounded third to head for the plate. Vargas saw this and threw a strike to Wehrle, who was covering the plate. Wehrle dropped the tag on Nevin for the final out of the inning. Yes, Blake Burke sat again. But he was listed in the original lineup before a change, so it's quite possible he's back soon. As for Luke Adams? We don't know. The box score lines are delicious. The two pitching lines are pretty. Dig in and enjoy. Thank you, MiLB.com for this: How insightful was what our own Link Reporter Joseph opined about that blast here. Final: Augusta (Braves) 6, Carolina 3 Box Score and Game Log Early Offense Lifts Augusta Past Mudcats From that write-up: (Augusta, 41-73 overall, 14-35 second half). Yikes, that's rough, but this isn't the NFL where a hapless team is going to be conquered 98% of the time. Considering Yophery Rodriguez and Eric Bitonti had the night off, the six Mudcats hits (including two doubles from 18-year-old switch-hitting SS Filippo Di Turi), three walks and two HBP's were reasonable production, but not enough (1-for-5 RISP). Unfortunately, one of those HBP's forced an early exit for RF Reece Walling. That plunking drove in a run, little consolation for the young man, hopefully OK. Can't ask more from the Carolina bullpen, particularly RHP Brailin Rodriguez' extended stint. 19-year-old RHP Bryan Rivera's 4th Mudcats outing (3rd start) did not go well. We forget or lose track of just how many players are on the different flavors of injured list - the Carolina official roster page reminds us. On Saturday, Carolina's game begins at 4:00 Central. Given the afternoon big-league game in Oakland, there is ample opportunity for you prospect hounds to sample action from the other affiliates during the early evening hours. Enjoy!
