  1. Transactions: Biloxi Shuckers released RHP Joe Corbett. RHP Joshua Quezada assigned to Wilson Warbirds from Nashville Sounds. Corbett, 29 years old, was signed in February and had split 2026 between Nashville and Biloxi. A 10th round pick by the Rangers in 2019, some background on that winter signing by the Crew can be found here. As for Quezada, it was quite a week, and we spotlighted that within our Minor League Forum's Transaction Thread. It's not a new transaction, but we are blessed to have a source to provide various Brewers organizational injury-related updates, and we learn more about Nashville corner infielder Luke Adams' still-pending status here. Each day, we kick off a discussion thread, almost an "as it happens" thread, on our Minor League Forum. With the usual light Monday schedule of only rookie-level games (Dominican Summer League yet to begin), that thread is often brief. The latest Monday thread contained updates on the Nashville stolen gloves situation, and yes, even pre-season Dominican action. Final: ACL Mariners 11, ACL Brewers 8 Box Score and Game Log The 4-8 Maryvale club scored eight runs for the 2nd time in three games, but are now riding a three-game skid, though it was a lovely 84-degree evening temperature at first pitch, It was an interesting pairing to begin the game on the mound, two 20-year-old's working their way back from summer 2024 Tommy John surgeries. RHP Hayden Robinson, drafted in the 14th round in 2023 out of a Louisiana high school, dazzled in six Maryvale appearances in 2024 before suffering his elbow injury, and somewhat remarkably was pitching again for the A-Crew just a touch over 12 months later, leading us to believe that he underwent the still very serious but less invasive internal brace form of TJ, making seven brief starts in 2025. This was his second start this summer, and the stat line shows Robinson will need to push forward past early results, as assuredly he will. LHP Joey Broughton tore his UCL just prior to the 2024 draft, allowing the Brewers to pluck him with a 13th round pick out of a Michigan high school and ink him to a well over-slot $535,000 bonus away from a University of Pittsburgh commitment. Broughton, unlike Robinson, did not pitch in the regular season last summer, making his pro debut on May 5th. This was his 3rd appearance. After a superb pro debut, 19-year-old RHP Ma'Kale Holden has walked eight and plunked another one over 6.2 innings in his two follow-up appearances. 20-year-old Venezuelan RHP Ismael Yanez is a 4th year pro and a rare 3rd-year Arizona League Brewer. The pair wrapped up mound work in this game, as your box score review showed. Maryvale baserunners were successful on seven of eight SB attempts, with RF Alexander Frias leading the way with three without being caught. Frias was able to run wild because of a double, single, and two walks. Frias was replaced defensively in the bottom of the 8th, after he had just contributed in a three-run Maryvale top of the inning that closed the gap to what would be the final 11-8 score. No indication in the game log that this was injury related. Nine of Frias' 17 hits thus far have gone for extra bases; he'll be playing in this beast mode all season at just 18 years old. It's notable that Frias' mid-level bonus of $350,000 is shaping up as a bargain. More expensive to sign, CF Brailyn Antunez ($900,000) and LF Kenny Fenelon ($1.3 million) each had two base knocks that included a double, for Antunez, his 1st two-bagger (his other two XBH's are home runs), 4th double for Fenelon (6th XBH). $1.1 million infielder Cristopher Acosta shifted from short to third base, he singled and walked as he tries to overcome a dreadful start at the plate. Review the error section of the box. Both teams were sloppy leading to unearned runs, with the Crew more heavily penalized. The team is in action again Tuesday evening, along with the rest of the organization. Both the Sounds and Timber Rattlers play at 10:05 Central on Tuesday, so I'll be sampling some Jeff Hem and Chris Mehring during my four-hour drive to a New Hampshire getaway this morning. 3. Brewers prospect Bonet eager to fulfill family MLB tradition RHP Jarrette Bonet, from a family of MLB veterans, is turning a strong first pro season in Wilson into a bid to reach the majors on his own terms By Paul Durham, Wilson Times While playing professional baseball might be a family tradition for Jarrette Bonet, the Wilson Warbirds pitcher hopes to add to that heritage all the way to the big leagues. Bonet, a 6-foot-3, 230-pound right-hander, is off to a pretty good start in his first season of pro ball after signing a free-agent minor league deal with the Milwaukee Brewers last summer. Bonet skipped Rookie ball altogether and came straight to Wilson at the conclusion of spring training. So far, he’s been very impressive at times, if not consistent in his eight appearances, all starts, for the Single-A Carolina League Warbirds. Bonet is 1-2 with a 5.20 ERA and 41 strikeouts in 36 1/3 innings. Opponents are batting .246 against him and his WHIP is 1.35. Bonet has cooled off a bit after a hot start that saw the Brewers name him their Minor League Pitcher of the Month for April after he went 1-1 with a 3.09 ERA and 26 strikeouts in 23 1/3 innings. Bonet said that his success has come directly from hard work. “I’m working really, really, really hard for this, waiting four years for the opportunities,” he said during a recent interview at Wilson Ballpark. “I’ll be here and there’s hard work every day — like every single day — but I’ll never quit. I think this is the reason I’m doing well right now. I think it’s like, my hard work and I never quit.” Bonet, who hails from Manati, Puerto Rico, has played baseball in the United States before at San Jacinto (Texas) Junior College as well as with the Trenton Thunder summer collegiate team in the MLB Draft League. He said that experience helped him get to where he is, but the pro game is much different. “My preparation right now is so much better,” Bonet said. “What I did in college, my first year in college, I was a little lazy, but I feel like here, you can’t do this. You need to work a lot. This is one of the adjustments I do, and I work on my mechanics a lot in the offseason, like in the spring training, too. So, I think it’s everything like this that has helped me a lot right now.” Bonet was a key member of Puerto Rico’s team in the World Baseball Softball Confederation U18 Baseball World Cup in 2023. He threw 4 1/3 innings of hitless relief to get the win in Puerto Rico’s upset of No. 2-seeded United States. Bonet said that playing for P.R. pitching coach Dicky Gonzalez Baez was a great experience as well. “He played in Japan, and I talked to him (very much), and he’s helped me a lot, like little things I need to learn,” Bonet said. “I think it’s helped me a lot.” Bonet comes from a big-league family with uncles Jose Valentin and Javier Valentin playing a combined 26 years of MLB baseball while cousin Jesmuel Valentin played for the Philadelphia Phillies in 2018. All three, like Bonet, are from Manati, a town of less than 40,000 known for its lush tropical beaches. While Bonet hopes to follow in their footsteps, he’s not comparing himself to his relatives — or anyone else. “No, for me, I don’t feel that pressure,” he said. “But probably, like the people say that you need to be good, like, same or better with your family. But I don’t feel that pressure. I play for me, for my future and for doing better, whether with my family or not.” While Bonet is eager to climb the ladder in the Brewers organization, he likes the vibe in Wilson so far, especially Wilson Ballpark. “The park, I think it’s that part of the city is, like, chill,” he said. “I think the teammates here, there’s a lot of good teammates, a lot of good people. I think it feels special here, like, it’s good.”
  4. WARBIRDS NOTEBOOK: Players come and go — and come back — as season heats up Amid constant call-ups and returns in their inaugural season, the Wilson Warbirds juggle a shifting Brewers prospect roster, uneven offense, solid pitching and steady crowds By Paul Durham, Wilson Times As fans of the Wilson Warbirds become acclimated to the young talent in the Milwaukee Brewers organization, they might want to pay attention because the players might not be here long. The Wilson roster was set at the outset of Single-A Carolina League play April 3 and didn’t change until April 18 when right-handed pitcher Enniel Cortez went on the Injured List. Since then, the Brewers have made 15 roster changes affecting the Warbirds as players come, go and come again. Two of the newest Warbirds — outfielder/first baseman Tyler Rodriguez and catcher Rylan Mills — enjoyed a memorable first week in Wilson with homers that led to victories at Wilson Ballpark over the weekend. Two players on the first Warbirds roster — RHP Garrett Hodges and utilityman Luiyin Alastre — earned promotions to the next rung in the Brewers organizational ladder to High-A Wisconsin Timber Rattlers over the last few weeks. Two more, catcher Eric Martinez and pitcher Joshua Quezada, were sent to Triple-A Nashville Sounds last weekend. However, Martinez, who just had 19 at-bats in Wilson, has been transferred to the Development List while Quezada returned to Wilson on Monday after throwing 1 1/3 hitless innings Saturday for the Sounds. Warbirds manager Eddy Morgan is the person who gets to tell the players that they are getting called up and that’s definitely a perk of his job. “That’s the coolest thing, right?” said Morgan, in his first season of pro ball after two decades as a college head coach in Wisconsin. “You see their face, and they’re like, oh, yeah, this is awesome! Yeah, to me, that’s pretty cool. A lot of people have a lot of influence. It’s just not the manager — coaches, our entire staff. “I think our staff here is as good as I’ve been around. I know I’ve been in college for a long time, but just talking to people, this staff communicates well. I think we connect with the players really well. And to me, it has everything to do with the staff and (the player) versus the manager. But I get to tell him!” Hodges, who played at Gardner-Webb University, went 2-1 in Wilson and notched his first victory at Wisconsin on May 13 while Alastre is hitting .310 for the Timber Rattlers after hitting just .160 in 15 games with the Warbirds. “That’s what they’re all playing for, right?” Morgan said. “And no offense to Wilson — we love it here — but the goal is not to stay in Wilson. The goal is to advance and get to Wisconsin and then to (Double-A) Biloxi and Nashville and the big leagues. So, Hodges was the latest in the way he was throwing the ball. He deserved the call-up now. Ran his fastball to 98 the other day. Very confident. Looks in control. And so, he’s ready for that next stage. And I think we’ll see some more of these guys grow up.” ATTENDANCE SO FAR So far, the Warbirds have averaged 2,336 spectators per game with two sellouts (3,700) and Saturday’s game, May 16, with 3,475 in attendance. The smallest crowd so far was 1,003, the opening game of the second homestand. The average per homestand has decreased from 2,333 in the first six games to 2,202 in the second to 2,164 for this past week. This week’s games are the first of two back-to-back homestands for the Warbirds in their inaugural season. The next one will run June 30 through July 12 and will be followed by a two-week stretch without games at Wilson Ballpark. The MLB All-Star Game break is July 13-16, then the Warbirds head to Hickory for three games against the Crawdads before going to Charleston for a six-game series starting July 21. NUMBERS GAME The Warbirds offense has struggled much of the season with the team ranked last in the Carolina League in hits (248), runs (179), batting average (.202) and slugging percentage (.322) while No. 2 in strikeouts with 429. However, there are some bright spots in the lineup. Center fielder Jose Anderson has hammered eight home runs, tying him for the Carolina League lead while right fielder Handelfry Encarnacion has slugged six homers. Both are in the top 10 in RBIs with 26 and 25, respectively. While neither has enough at-bats to qualify for the league leaders, Wilson outfielder/DH Pedro Ibarguen is hitting .315 (23 for 73) and infielder Luis Lameda is batting at a .293 clip (24 for 82). Wilson’s pitching across the board has been better as the Warbirds rank fifth in both team ERA (4.35) and strikeouts (398) but they have given up a league-high 39 homers, with 24 hit in the cozy confines of Wilson Ballpark.
  5. As was mentioned a few posts back, are you able to update us on Luke Adams’ status? Thanks.
  6. As I detailed in the Nashville section of Saturday’s Link Report, RHP Joshua Quezada made the most of his Wilson-to-Nashville excursion. He’s been rewarded with a return assignment to Wilson to rejoin the Warbirds with a few stories to tell, surely. It’d be cool if he joined the Sounds on their flight to Durham prior to making the redirect to Wilson in the Raleigh area.

It's known to not be a long-term assignment, and because of that, it doesn't make sense to interrupt the development path of a Biloxi pitcher for a brief boomerang stint. What an adventure and thrill it must have been for just-turned 22-year Nicaraguan native Joshua Quezada to board that flight from North Carolina to Tennessee. The blow-out conditions and Stallings' 6.2 inning effort allowed Quezada to enter seamlessly, and the kid retired all four men he faced, registering a AAA strikeout as well. Awesome. Like called-up Peter Strzelecki, it's not hard to envision former big-leaguer J.B. Bukauskas getting a similar reward later this MLB season, but he'll need to provide both results and good health. The Brewers do seem to love themselves some Bukauskas. Did you miss another story of the day, although the Sounds did manage a "zero" in the error column Saturday. Two people accused of stealing baseball gloves belonging to Nashville Sounds players Admittedly, this was my favorite online reaction: Biloxi Pre-Game Media Notes Final: Montgomery (Rays) 10, Biloxi 6 Box Score and Game Log Catch up with the latest Biloxi pre-game audio interview archives - Manager Mike Guerrero's Friday chat recently added Via the Shuckers, game details: Made's Career Night Undone by Biscuits in Shuckers Loss - Top prospect becomes 5th Southern League player under 20 years old with multi-home run game Of course we'll catch up with Jesús Made in a moment, but first a bit of trivia. Earlier this week, we noted former Brewers farmhand Jadher Areinamo as part of this Biscuits' opposing squad. He was idle Saturday. But infielder Gregory Barrios, briefly discussed in the Mike Guerrero interview noted above, did play at shortstop and singled three times after being held hitless in his prior three games in this series. Barrios sports an uninspiring .616 OPS on the season. The $1 million bonus baby for the Crew in January 2021 was traded to the Rays in July of 2024. Do you remember the return? Answer shortly. Allison Mast of MLB.com has an informative article on Made and his big night here. As is often the case, the accompanying video of all three of Made's hits is from the home team Montgomery broadcast. It's so much more fun to provide the Biloxi calls: Made's third hit, a ground ball single up the middle, is within the linked article above. The Biloxi "X" feed has additional video, including two clips of particular note if you're a Matthew Wood fan. Then there's this from Javik Blak'e broadcast partner Max Gifford incorporating the "Choo-Choo" call, which I heartily enjoyed. Starter Bishop Letson only worked three innings and threw 42 pitches, 34 for strikes (no walks). Three of the four hits he allowed were doubles. Somehow his 6.66 ERA seems appropriate for his season thus far, there's a long way to go to exorcise early mound demons. When short starts lead to a parade of relievers, all it takes is for one blow-up outing to spoil the fun. It was RHP Nick Merkel, in just his 5th appearance after an injury-delayed start to 2026, with the tough night here. Trivia answer: Aaron Civale, so we thank Gregory Barrios for Andrew Vaughn! Wisconsin Pre-Game Media Notes (download link) Final: South Bend (Cubs) 24, Wisconsin 4 Box Score and Game Log Via the Timber Rattlers, game details: Cubs Drop Rattlers You might think you don't want to sit through five minutes of game action for this one, but it's oddly mesmerizing. The Braylon Payne and Andrew Fischer blasts ease the pain (my goodness, Andrew, such conviction!), and Chris Mehring's call on a South Bend blooper that dropped near the first base line late in the game is worth the movie ticket. The Quinn Priester angst is real, and I'll pull up one important March 2021 article by Adam McCalvy for you, fully aware that Priester has not undergone surgery, and at this time, has no surgical procedure scheduled. This is an important read. Brewers prospect Antoine Kelly recovering from TOS Kelly is still just 26 years old and is currently toiling in AAA in his first year in the Dodgers' system. The game summary made mention of Caleb Thielbar, my goodness, 2010! A former Helena Brewer as well. We won't overly pile on except to say 24-year-old RHP Jose Nova is having a season to forget, though it'll likely be remembered in Link Report annals for decades down the road. Wilson Pre-Game Media Notes Final: Wilson 8, Hill City (Guardians) 4 Box Score and Game Log Rodriguez Rockets Wilson Over Hill City - Meneses Majestic in Relief This was a fun one. Shortstop Brady Ebel with a double among his three hits, adding to the prospect luster in the system Saturday. Handelfry Encarnacion walked three times to lift his season long BB% to 17.0%. A total of six Warbirds reached base at least twice. The 4-5-6 hitters (Frederi Montero, Luis Lameda, Filippo DiTuri) each reached once and contributed an RBI apiece. So that's all nine batters contributing in significant ways, one of the prettiest offensive box scores we've seen across any level of the system this season. ***Here's a tip that we should have been taking advantage of previously within our reports. Notice that when you click on the word "Video" on that box score header via the link above, you'll be presented with a column for all the individual highlights for the game (both teams). The audio will always be from the home team broadcast, but that suits us just fine here. The plays will be listed chronologically from bottom to top. And best of all, unlike when we link to individual plays within our reports, you don't have to sit through annoying 15-to-30 second advertisements. Take a few moments now to follow the video link in the paragraph above and take in the sights and calls. Workhorse starter Jarrette Bonet plowed through 5.1 innings (93 pitches). We now are learning why the organization has placed faith in LHP Jose Meneses despite sub-par surface level figures in his pro career leading up to 2026. Meneses only turned 21 years old in March, while Bonet won't reach that age until August. Nicely done, Warbirds! Final: ACL Reds 7, ACL Brewers 3, seven innings as scheduled Box Score and Game Log The A-Crew were outscored, outhit and outdefended in this one. Left-handed slugging RF Alexander Frias only turned 18 years old in March. He doubled twice, topping at 102 MPH on a pulled line drive. As his MiLB Player Page indicates, eight of his 15 hits have gone for extra bases, and his ten-game line is a beautiful .375/.405/.675 (1.080 OPS). Switch-hitter Juan Martinez (player page) arrived in Maryvale coming off his .977 OPS Dominican Summer League 2025 breakout, and while not reaching that lofty figure yet, is off to a fine small-sample nine-game start splitting time at second and third base. Starting pitcher Diustin Mayorquin limited the free passes (none) but not the hits and runs. Reliever Dariel Jaquez limited the damage but not the walks (four). Usual day off for the Maryvale boys Sunday. Primarily early afternoon action Sunday, though the folks in Montgomery selected the uniquely quaint 4:33 PM for their getaway day Shuckers start time. 18. From Friday's Link Report: "At this time, we don't know anything specific about Bryce Meccage's injury status. The 2024 2nd round pick out of a New Jersey high school had made his first four starts through April 24th and had been faring well enough, with progression to a five-inning, two-run outing with just two walks on that night. However, Meccage was not effective at all in a home start on April 30th, which was the last time we saw him on a mound - 1.1 IP, 3 H (1 HR), 7 R, 5 BB. He threw 52 pitches (only 23 strikes), and at the time, there was no reason to think his early exit was injury related. Here we are two weeks later with an IL stint." ARob?
