  1. Sunday 3/23 Gameday vs COL: MINOR DETAILS: Over from Minor League camp: INF Luke Adams (96), INF Juan Baez (94), OF Luis Castillo (98), C David García (80), OF Adam Hall (96), 1B Ernesto Martinez Jr. (86), INF Ethan Murray (92), OF Hedbert Pérez (97), OF Yophery Rodríguez (91), C Yannic Walther (93), RHP Stiven Cruz (90), RHP Blake Holub (66), RHP Jeferson Figueroa (88), LHP Mark Manfredi (99), RHP Easton McGee (71), RHP Sam McWilliams (84), RHP Abdiel Mendoza (57) and RHP Josh Timmerman (89). Sunday 3/23 Gameday at SEA: MINOR DETAILS: Over from Minor League camp: INF Jadher Areinamo (92), INF Johan Barrios (60), INF Blake Burke (73), INF Wes Clarke (97), C Blayberg Díaz (80), C Marco Dinges (28), INF Caleb Durbin (63), OF Yhoswar García (90), INF Daniel Guilarte (0), OF Luis Lara (89), INF Andruw Monasterio (14), INF/OF Demetrio Nadal (88), OF Bladimir Restituyo (98), OF Jheremy Vargas (56), INF Zavier Warren (96), C Matt Wood (99), RHP Kaleb Bowman (58), RHP Miles Langhorne (68), RHP Jesús Liranzo (84), RHP Aidan Maldonado (91), RHP Evan McKendry (66), RHP Yerlin Rodríguez (93), RHP Aaron Rund (61), RHP Jack Seppings (85), RHP Garrett Stallings (75) and RHP Justin Yeager (57). This was a live MLB Network Game, and no current big-league camp position-player Brewers made the trip. I was able to watch (thanks, DVR), and until an unfortunate Evan McKendry outing in the 8th, this Crew was beating up on Seattle's Opening Day lineup. Monday 3/24 Gameday at COL: MINOR DETAILS: Over from Minor League camp: INF Luiyin Alastre (0), OF José Anderson (98), INF Eric Bitonti (96), INF Eric Brown Jr. (92), OF Luis Castillo (93), C Eric Martínez (94), C Edgardo Ordoñez (89), INF Cooper Pratt (87), C Ramón Rodríguez (82), INF Tyler Rodríguez (88), OF Yophery Rodríguez (90), INF Zavier Warren (97), RHP Tyler Bryant (66), RHP Will Childers (99), RHP Stiven Cruz (58), RHP Aidan Maldonado (91), LHP Mark Manfredi (68), RHP Yerlin Rodríguez (57) and RHP Jack Seppings (95) This was a Brewers webcast with Lane Grindle and Josh Maurer. They did a nice job with the youngsters and found time to heap praise on Luiyin Alastre's game (after impressively mastering his name), Eric Bitonti, and Tyler Bryant, who was pumping 97-98 in his two hitless innings. There were two HBP's in the 9th that seemed to rattle him, but Chris Hook guided him to the save. VIDEO: José Anderson hits a two-run single to left field to give the Brewers the lead with a score of 4-2 in the top of the 7th inning Monday This concludes this thread for 2025, see you similarly next spring!
  2. Obscure but potentially impactful - How about a player who transitioned to center field at the AA level in 2024, posting a .331/.418/.416 line, albeit at age 27? Bryan Torres was only 21 when he was plucked by the Giants in the minor league phase of Rule 5 in December 2019, having played all over the diamond in his four rookie-level seasons, primarily catcher and then corner infield in his Brewers days. He had been a non-drafted player out of Puerto Rico. Torres jumped both A-Ball levels and did fine at AA in his lone San Francisco organization season, but because of the Covid-years, qualified for minor league free agency, finding no takers. Torres would crush independent ball with ironically, the Milwaukee Milkmen, in both 2022 and 2023 (.925 OPS, 1.004 OPS), before someone finally took notice for the 2024 season, that someone being the St, Louis Cardinals. Last September 7th, watch as he made this catch on the same night he went 5-for-5 (more video). Torres' career arc has been fascinating, as his Baseball Reference page shows. St. Louis just placed Torres on their AAA Memphis roster to begin 2025, it'll be his first taste of ball at that level.
  3. Monday 3/24: Via WTMJ's Afternoon News (download link): Lane Grindle Via the Fan Milwaukee's "Mason Crosby Show": Curt Hogg of the Journal-Sentinel Via WSCO's "The Show with Balky": "Brewer Fanatic and Brewer Fanatic Podcast co-host Jack Stern talks Blake Perkins, Mark Canha, Jake Bauers, Caleb Durbin, Tyler Black and more" (go to the 22:20 minute mark) Locked on MLB Roundtable including Chuck Freimund - "NL CENTRAL DIVISION PREVIEW: Why the Chicago Cubs WILL NOT Win the NL Central" Locked on Brewers with Chuck Freimund - "Will the Brewers Have Enough Starting Pitching in 2025?" Via the "Cream City Pod" with BrewerFanatic's own Spencer Michaelis: Topics Covered with co-host Gunner Amelunk: - Mark Canha Trade - Durbin/Black Optioned - Mega-Opening Day Roster Preview - One player not on OD roster who will impact the team the most - Record predictions - Random Brewers
  4. Great news for RHP Luis Contreras, among those featured in this MLBTR post.
  5. Sunday 3/23: Latest Milwaukee Tailgate Podcast - "On this final installment of our 4-part season preview the guys took a look around MLB, handicapped the other 5 divisions, picked playoff teams and postseason awards winners and talked about some final roster decisions." Locked on Brewers with Chuck Freimund - "Brewers Make More Decisions"
  6. Back in January, we posted quite a bit in this thread about the undrafted free agent signing of RHP Ryan Sandberg, we invite you to revisit that entry. Although he was placed on the big-league camp roster for spring action at least once, he did not appear in a game. He was released on Saturday and thus has yet to make his professional debut. We wish Ryan well, has to be disappointing for him and his inner circle of family and friends.
  7. 24-year-old OF Garrett Spain, who was plucked from the Blue Jays' system in the minor league phase of Rule 5 in December, had his status moved from Nashville to Biloxi. Spain was at the AA level for nearly all of 2024 (two games at AAA around the 4th of July) and has been healthy for each of the last two seasons, but his numbers leave much to be desired, as you'll see at the linked player page. The Brewers will hope to coax more from him with the Shuckers.
  8. 26-year-old RHP Zach Peek (27 in May), who was plucked from the Orioles' system in the minor league phase of Rule 5 in December, had his status moved from Nashville to Wisconsin. Peek peaked (see what I did there) briefly at the AA level in 2024, so despite his age, this placement makes some sense. Peek only has 13 appearances over the last two seasons, spending time on the 60-day injured list in each.
  9. In the "Milwaukee Brewers Sleeper Prospects: Who Will Make the Jump in 2025?" article, @wiguy94 wrote: "Will Rudy - Very smooth delivery. This is the offseason he finally adds a bit of velo to add to his solid command." @Joseph Zarr followed up: "Rudy was phenomenal in that road Game 3 Championship series. Phenomenal. Would be such a boon to the system if he could keep growing into his young pitching career." Sadly, Rudy was just placed on the full-season injured list for 2025. No word on the nature of his injury.
  10. Mudcats' Opening Night is Friday 4/4 - at home vs. Fredericksburg (Nationals). 14. Good thing Sunday is a "camp day" on the minor league side, because a big-league split squad will have farmhands all over the fields in Maryvale and Peoria.
  15. Saturday 3/22 Gameday at OAK: MINOR DETAILS: Over from Minor League camp: INF Raynel Delgado (72), OF Pedro Ibarguen (94), INF Luis Lameda (88), INF Andruw Monasterio (14), INF Demetrio Nadal (89), OF Kay-Lan Nicasia (90), OF Jared Oliva (74), C Edgardo Ordoñez (0), OF Hedbert Pérez (97), C Ramón Rodríguez (82), INF Brock Wilken (95), RHP Chase Costello (98), LHP Tyler Jay (54), RHP Ryan Middendorft (99), RHP Vinny Nittoli (67), RHP Chad Patrick (78), LHP Nate Peterson (66) and RHP Dikember Sánchez (92) Appears this was the first day in camp for LHP Nate Peterson and RHP Dikember Sánchez, along with INF Luis Lameda, who grounded out as a pinch-hitter in the 9th. Chad Patrick did not hurt his cause for the early 5th starter spot, he now has a 10-to-1 K-to-BB in 8.1 IP this spring. Unfortunately, that one walk led off the fateful 9th here.
  16. Friday 3/21 Gameday vs AZ: MINOR DETAILS: Over from Minor League camp: INF Luiyin Alastre (0), INF Filippo Di Turi (94), INF Eduardo García (88), OF Brewer Hicklen (28), OF Luis Lara (89), C Darrien Miller (90), INF Tyler Rodríguez (92), C Yannic Walther (93), INF Zavier Warren (97), RHP Grant Anderson (56), RHP Kaleb Bowman (57), LHP Brian Fitzpatrick (99), RHP Nick Merkel (75), RHP Bayden Root (84), RHP Garrett Stallings (68) and RHP Craig Yoho (91). Garcia entered early when Joey Ortiz had a need to excuse himself. Yoho was hittable (when contact was made), Anderson's tough spring continues, Merkel did himself proud again, now unscored upon in five spring appearances. Although he didn't pitch, this was LHP Brian Fitzpatrick's first day this spring in the big-league bullpen.

  21. Wednesday 3/19 Gameday vs CHW: MINOR DETAILS: Over from Minor League camp: INF Josh Adamczewski (88), 1B Wes Clarke (75), C David García (80), INF Daniel Guilarte (0), OF Luis Lara (89), INF Jesús Made (92), C Eric Martínez (93), OF Kay-Lan Nicasia (90), INF Jheremy Vargas (94), OF Reece Walling (96), RHP Will Childers (99), RHP Chase Costello (57), RHP Blake Holub (66), RHP Sam McWilliams (84), RHP Ryan Middendorf (68) and LHP Grant Wolfram (73) Holub now up to 5.2 scoreless innings, 1.06 WHIP. Pat Murphy made mention of him recently. Adamczewski now 3-for-5, Jeff Levering and Lane Grindle were all about his spring performance. Made 0-for-1 on a lineout, but having listened to the full game, made a couple of nice defensive plays, one in particular on the very impressive side, picking up a deflected ball off Grant Wolfram and "whipping it" in time to Tyler Black for the scoop at first.
  22. RHP Yujanyer Herrera (Nick Mears trade with Colorado) was placed on the full-season IL by the Rockies, expected after the news of his Tommy John surgery shortly after the 2024 season ended.
