We're a small market team, and 3 out of our top 6 starting pitchers are out injured... if we had everybody healthy, it'd be a different story, but that's not the case... I have no doubt that Melvin will make any moves that make sense
I doubt Hall will ever be as good defensively at SS as Hardy and I doubt Hardy will ever hit as well or be as durable as Hall... On a World Series caliber team (which is what we are building, right?) you'd like to have both, for depth
To me, it depends on what other roster moves are made in regards to the Outfielders we have... Hall could end up a good solid CF, or a 2B if Weeks ends up in CF... Fortunately, right now we can afford to keep both while Melvin and Yost figure out the Outfield puzzle... the way this season is playing out I gotta believe that eventually the Brewers trade outfielders for pitchers
Very interesting, especially considering that Weeks hit very well yesterday. Yost seems to have a penchant for sitting players down the day after they hit HR's... That said, I'm very optimistic about this team and about their chances to win today...
Ned is starting to look like a manager who was great at instilling the work ethic and discipline to get to being a .500 team, but not the guy who can lead the Brewers back to the top.... I know, I know: small sample rate...
When it comes to Doug Davis, Yost turns into Dusty Baker...Davis is on a strict 140 pitch pitch-count tonight http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
Our pitchers have been injured, maybe Ned was being a "gamer" tonight managing with a head injury... Jenkins with the clutch hit tonight, gotta love it... meanwhile: I'm starting to sincerely believe that Daron Sutton is getting worse and worse as the season goes on... tonight he was really really annoying
I think that the next time Ned Yost gets thrown out of a game, the Brewers should have Bill Hall take over managerial duties for the remainder of the game... Also, I heard that the reason Bill Hall is so clutch is because he has developed telepathic powers. No need to try to steal signs when you can read the opposing catcher's thoughts...
{Don't get me wrong, I'm in the "bench Brady as much as possible camp," but JJ has not being doing much to make his presence required. I think the Brewers could certainly "afford" to keep him on the bench, as he's not producing.} JJ gives us more defense than Clark and is at least as good of a hitter if not better... I like Hall and Hardy in the lineup better than Hall and Clark I'd sit Clark except vs lefties when you sit Koskie, or to occasionally spell Jenkins
Good point! I've gotta agree with you... "Small sample" on Hendrickson in the Majors this season but it sure seems like he is a AAAA pitcher. Fernandez just plain doesn't belong in the majors... It looks like it is time for Jorge De La Rosa to be a starting pitcher until Sheets and/or Helling gets healthy... here's hoping that Eveland will be lights out great (or even just solid) on Saturday night
