  1. It was definitely meant to be sarcastic.
  2. Um, it was a save situation. Gagne is the closer. Ned had NO choice. Even if Gagne's arm had fallen off, and he had to go up there and pitch with his foot, he'd have to go in there to get that 2-run lead save.
  3. I suppose. We hadn't even used anybody off the bench yet though. It seems like Counsell could have pinch hit, and then stayed in for Weeks at 2B on defense. I just don't like leaving it up to a pitcher in an important situation like that. I agree though, they do need to do something about the lack of healthy bodies on the bench, so Ned was kind of handcuffed.
  4. Why wasn't Gallardo pinch hit for in the 8th inning today? His pitch count was 112, and he was removed immidiately to begin the next inning. There was really no chance of him pitching the next inning obviously, so why was he allowed to hit? Call me crazy, but I'd like an actual position player up to bat during a 1-1 game in the 8th, with 1 man on and 0 outs. Instead of giving the team a decent chance to score and potentially take the lead, we get nothing. This seems like exactly the type of subtle lack of foresight that could easily cost the Brewers a ballgame.
  5. I was on I-94 after leaving a game. There was a truck next to me. I looked over, and in the truck was Chad Moeller - smoking a cigarette. No lie.
  6. But isn't that what Brewerfan is all about??? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  7. The entire year = first spring training game? A bad finger injury could have left us with a gaping hole at 3B for a decent chunk of the season. Look how long it took Weeks to fully recover from his thumb problem. I'm really happy for you that you're Captain Calm, Cool, and Collected - but why do you care if others would be concerned about Hall?
  8. Preparing for a "worst case" scenario, does anybody know how long a player is generally out with something like a fractured finger on their throwing hand?
  9. The last time I freaked out, I just kept looking down I st-st-stuttered when you asked me what I'm thinking 'bout Felt like I couldn't breathe You asked what's wrong with me My best friend Leslie said "oh she's just being Miley" The next time we hang out I will redeem myself My heart can't rest 'till then Oh woah woah, I, I can't wait to see you again!
  10. I don't think that post was meant to be taken literally. Point taken, however. I'll remove the post as it isn't really warranted. And for what it's worth, I agree that using W-L and/or playoff appearances isn't a great metric. However, I think that you need to prove you can have some success in that regard before you can really be considered a top ten GM. I mean, even with the discepency in circumstances, that is the ultimate goal right? Like Russ said, now that DM has had time and a decent payroll to work with, results need to be part of ultimately judging his performance.
  11. Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
  12. http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b273/AJAY_02/NedYostScared.jpg Heading into the 2008 season, Ned Yost emerges as an older, wiser manager---confident he can lead the talent-rich Brewers to a second consecutive mediocre season.
  13. Hart. Gallardo. Braun. Fielder. 2008. Go Brewers.
  14. For the record, my issue with this has been more with injury stuff. I feel that they haven't been very forthcoming at times about certain things in that regard. I understand that there might be some competetive advantage they are trying to gain by withholding information about player availability, but at the same time, paying fans probably deserve to know what's going on with the health of the players they are paying to see. And there is something disconcerting about coaches leaving the team year after year for vague or unknown reasons.
  15. I don't know that you're in any position to judge what 2,000+ people find entertaining, or how they receive my posting. Maybe I'm the only one who thought it was funny, and maybe there are a lot of people here who don't like my posts. It doesn't really bother me one way or the other, and I don't know that it's really relevant or necessary for you to give me advice on how to be "better received" here. The majority of my posts regarding Ned have been completely legitimate. I try have serious discussions 95% of the time, and I think most people here would back me up on that one. But, I'm not going to go any further in defending myself. Obviously, you feel my joking around in this particular situation crossed some kind of line, so I will stop.
  16. You're right. I'll have to work on toning down the absurdity of my humor-based comparisons in order to more accurately portray the real situation, and not upset Katuluu.
  17. You're telling me that I posted that, and was completely serious? Okay. Obviously, you would know my intentions better than me, and obviously I honestly believe Ned Yost is just like a baker who would put shards of glass in muffins.
  18. Yes, Ned is purposely trying to damage your health with every move he makes. It was a joke. Maybe not a good one, but obviously not meant to be taken seriously.
  19. Yeah. Or firing an assistant baker without explanation, leaving the lunatic head baker who puts glass shards in the muffins in charge, and then expecting you to keep shopping there.
  20. Don't forget telling them they haven't earned the right to question your product. Can you imagine if other businesses acted the way the Brewers have? "Excuse me sir, this bread I bought from you has mold on it. When was the expiration date?" "That's none of your damn business. Until you've regulalry eaten delicious bread, you will eat our stale moldy bread and be happy we sold you anything at all....Oh what, you're not satisfied? Well then, why don't you just put a couch right here in the bakery and bake the bread yourself!"
  21. Add another one to the list of guys that "aren't on the same wavelength" as Ned. First it was Dauer. Then Yount (unless you believe the story that he just wanted to spend more time with his family) and now Leyva. Is there anybody I'm missing? Is it possible that those guys were on the right wavelength? That seems like kind of a lot of guys not seeing eye-to-eye with the manager. And it sure seems to me that those guys were all brighter than Dale Sveum.
  22. Cubs and Yankees....GONE
  23. But Clemens motivated the Yankees to play better by merely being present in the clubhouse! Who cares if he's stunk all year! He's a *leader* in that clubhouse! Hey! Let's all just keep making sarcastic responses to a legitimate topic! That's productive! I think this makes two in a row for you, crewcrazy! Way to contribute!
