  1. Unfortunately this is probably accurate. I thought Murphy's decision to leave Mis in as long as he did (i.e., to load the bases) yesterday was pretty stupid, but put in a little more context letting Drohan wear a 3 spot in the 3rd a day later is much more excusable even when it doesn't get him through to the 5th in the end. They're in a little bit of a pinch the last 72 hours or so.
  2. Becoming obvious that missing Chourio and Turang simultaneously (and Contreras today on his day game day off) is just going to be too much for the bats to overcome more often than not. I get the logic of sitting Yelich against lefties at times and Contreras as load management on a day game after a night game, but it does feel like the Brewers have played the last 13 innings with one arm tied behind their back.
  3. First pitch swinging after 4 consecutive balls. Non-competitive at bats from 2 of the 3 hitters in the 9th. Oh well. Can't win 'em all.
  4. True. I don't necessarily have a problem with letting young pitchers work through it but it's a balance. If you're going to pull him at some point I'm not sure why the line is once he walks the bases full instead of 2 on if there is still a game you can win. But he may have also had a pitch number in his head as being the line instead of the game situation. I would have pulled him earlier, but it is what it is.
  5. Not going to get it done most nights, although the Red Sox game it a try in the 7th for us.
  6. The philosophy is purportedly "win today" but a couple of times already this season Murphy has made decisions that seem more focused on development than maximizing the odds of winning that particular game. IMO that is 100% what he was doing with Mis when he lost command tonight.
  7. Did the Red Sox some favors in that half inning. They politely tried to decline, but as the rules of etiquette indicate, it's ok to accept the double play opportunity when it's offered a second time.
  8. Have to put pitches on him. Be nice if he were up over 60 instead of 50.
  9. So Miz and his "**** you, **** you, grab some bench mothef*cker".... might just get the attention of a Contreras tonight. lol
  10. It's been a long time but I have to say... I wouldn't have been mad at them if it had happened, although the brawl that followed (and it would have followed) might have cost us players and games so yeah, keeping your cool is better. Wilson Contreras is a colossal jackass. Always has been.
  11. I was at both of the TRats games yesterday. Never much to add after these detailed summaries (Thanks!) but I very much enjoyed the fact that in Game 1 the whole stadium was (non-sarcastically) cheering for Martinez to throw a strike when he opened the game by throwing 1 strike and 18 balls (not to mention multiple wild pitches). Game 1 was a slog. Game 2 was much crisper (and the strike zone more consistent until late in the game) perhaps because it was even colder and misting heavily for the first 3 innings. There were only a couple of hundred fans left for Game 2 after about 4000 showed up for game 1 and the Frelick jersey giveaway. Payne, Dinges and Bitonti all hit home runs. Dinges, who did not appear in game 1, was pulled after getting hit by a pitch (with a loud pain-driven reaction). He stayed in to run the bases but by the time of his next AB Diaz was in the lineup. The pull from the game was a little concerning after the HBP since he didn't appear in the earlier game and it was opening day, but after Diaz made the third out Dinges popped out of the dugout to warm up the pitcher in the top of the 7th while Diaz put on his gear. When some of the fans (whose inhibitions were, ahem, low after 6 hours at the ballpark and maybe another 2 in the parking lot) called out "Marcooooo" and yelled "you ok?" he turned and gave them a thumbs up before going back into the dugout. (Yes, every time some yelled "Marcooo" in game 2 someone else would yell "Polo".) Always fun at the TRats game even when it's cold as hell.
  12. Good news is the postponed game means that both games tomorrow might be available to non Apple TV subscribers. (I actually really like Apple TV but can't subscribe to everything, so it's out of the rotation currently.)
  13. We're like a week into the season and I'm already pissed off when I have to go two days without Brewers baseball. Get a roof Kansas City!
  14. He managed it pretty well in the end. Just had to struggle a bit and get through it. Learning moment for him hopefully.
  15. I love Turang but he sounds like Nuke Laloosh in interviews. Here's a quote from the interview he did post game on field: "Good things happen when you do things." 🤣
