  1. It's not going to be a 5 game lead. The Brewers will get 1 more win this series and leave Chicago up 7.
  2. First one in weeks where they seem to be feeling the pressure instead of just making plays. That throw home from Turang is a good example. Pressing in at bats too instead of seeing pitches. I don't want to take anything away from Taillon, but the Brewers have have made it easier on him than they had to since the 1st. After the 1st there is no way he should have gotten through 6.
  3. well, that triple tells you all you need to know about tonight. Talk about the ball bouncing the Cubs way. And then Turang blows the throw home. Just not good baseball today. It happens.
  4. It's always frustrating when they don't hit, and even more so when they stop forcing the opposing pitcher go deep into counts. I'm not sure how they lost the train of thought tonight at the plate to at least see more pitches after the 1st inning. But honestly if they manage to win one more game this series they'll leave Chicago with a 7 game lead. They'll be fine. And it really doesn't matter if the Cubs are impressed by the Brewers or not.
  5. Just really odd. if he's guessing there, I have no idea why after he fouled off two pitches earlier in the at bat.
  6. Just so strange to watch Ortiz get to 2 strikes quickly, put together three solid takes on pitches outside the zone, a couple of fouled off strikes and then stare at strike 3 down middle without taking his bat off his shoulder. Bad approach to start, better in the middle and a dose of *** at the end.
  7. I'm sure MLB will do whatever the Cubs ask them to do.* *Just kidding.** **Sorta.
  8. Which is a better use of him, imo, although I'm still worried about him breaking down given his innings/appearances.
  9. I know. I wish he was still on our MLB roster. I'll acknowledge that this is likely irrational.
  10. I do enjoy the fact that part of the reason he left was because Chicago has more financial resources to build teams with and yet they've mostly sat on those resources and have struggled to catch the Brewers in the standings.
  11. Probably true, but in Chicago he could get the $ he wanted and still be geographically close to his home. Its fine. I don't feel sorry for him when he gets grief, especially when he's caught straight up lying, but whatever. He's gone. And the Brewers are massively fun to watch, so while mocking him after Cubs losses is still fun for me I mostly don't care.
  12. I honestly think the Cubs probably need to win 4 games to have a realistic shot at the division. Even 2 wins gets the Brewers to 80 wins with 34 to play. .500 ball after that gets them to 97 wins. The Cubs would have to go 27-15 the rest of the way to get to 97. It's still mathematically possible for the Cubs to win the division if they split the series 2-3/3-2 but it's not likely. I liked how Murphy managed the game today with an eye on the next 4 days (and really the next two weeks).
  13. I do worry about Uribe holding up. He's making a big jump in appearances from last season.
  14. Not a huge fan of the Apple broadcasts but I do appreciate the graphic they just put up that might remind people that Robin Yount won MVPs 7 years apart by destroying baseballs while playing not one but 2 different premium defensive positions. Guy's in the HOF and he's still underappreciated outside of Milwaukee.
  15. I mean, 3 hours ago I would have said "no, no way", which just goes to show that I'm a slow learner because I've thought that like 3 times this year only to see Priester turn into legit starter, Collins turn into a legit ROY candidate and Vaughn to turn into Ryan Braun.
  16. They're just applying so much constant pressure on opposing teams right now. It's insane.
  17. I did not have Lockridge getting 3 hits tonight on my bingo card.
  18. Fischer was the first one into and out of the dugout most innings and was bouncing around on the field all night (he carried the go pro out for the top of the 1st too). I still think he was late getting to the bag on the front end of that double play in the top of the 9th but it was a heads up play after the ball came out of his glove as he hit the ground on the attempted catch. As you said Dinges had one of those "that's baseball" nights after getting a runner early (2nd i think?) and adding a sac fly in the 1st. He looked supremely frustrated the rest of the night. Really fun to watch Made-Pena-Fischer-Dinges 1 through 4. If you're in Wisconsin I highly recommend it. These guys won't be here long. Thanks for the write up as always!
  19. Going to our first TRats game since Made and Pena were called up tonight. First one since Dinges got back from the IL too although we saw him play a few earlier this year. I'm just a casual but I'm nearly as excited about Dinges as I am Made and Pena. Thanks for the excellent write up!
