If you'd have told me 18 months ago he'd be this bad at the plate for this long and the Brewers would be this patient with him I absolutely wouldn't have believed it.
I'd say they were getting unlucky with the hard hit outs... because they are, but there was some BABIP magic in Black's double, and the error letting Bauers take 2nd didn't hurt either.
There's a run! Pretty good at bat by Mitchell even with the groundout. Two really good takes to get to 3-2. Fouled off what would have been ball 4 before the RBI groundout.
I mean, I'm really just a bitter little middleschooler still pissed off that the Brewers didn't win the 1982 series, so... the Pirates can eat that lost perfect game. That hit just made my night.
So I'll say that while I'm not trying to be unkind and I'm not wildly optimistic about Black's likely performance I do think he makes more sense on this roster right now than Matos did.
This is a wildly more reasonable response than my "Murphy hates Black and is pissed they called him up so he's going to let Skenes buzzsaw him 4 times and then bury him on the bench." 🤣
Maybe not, but you are unreasonably negative.
In any event, since you're "just pointing out the inaccuracy" and ignoring or agreeing with the larger point, well then enjoy your pedantry.
