  1. It's baseball. Sometimes bad teams win games. There are some reasons for concern already (the IL list, the teetering bullpen, the workload on Ashby and Uribe, the drop in bat speed from several players that Matt wrote about), but you can't reasonably demand/assume a sweep against any team. if they drop 2 or get swept then that will likely be because those warning signs noted above continue to be a problem. I know it's worrying season because this is, or is rapidly nearing, the time of year when things to to hell for the Brewers since 2007 or so, but if they go .500 the rest of the season they set a franchise record for wins and the Cubs would have to finish the season on a 14 game win streak to win the division. Let's try to enjoy the last 2 weeks of the regular season! Plenty of time to be miserable when the playoffs get here and they're playing teams with $200-300 million on the payroll every series. :)
  2. Not being critical of the lineup choices on a getaway day, but it's hard not to look at Perkins-Jansen-Ortiz and assume that's probably a 1 for 10 day with a few ks and maybe 2 walks if we're lucky.
  3. Also, if one is worried about the Cubs at all, it's way worse to lose to them in the NLCS than the divisional round. 😅
  4. Sure like how they're taking care of business in Pittsburgh, even with all the injuries.
  5. Sure. But sometimes players say they're good when they're not and sometimes managers and bullpen coaches want to win and they see what they want to see. I'm not sure why this is surprising.
  6. This just in: The Brewers have a 5.5 game lead in September and the best record in baseball. Go Brewers!
  7. No. I will probably be using the ignore button more often though. I don't come to a Brewers game thread to get updates on the Cub score every 3rd post. Guess that's what the ignore button is for.
  8. Who. Cares. Sooooooo tired of the breathless updates on the Cubs schedule or their games.
  9. Because **** happens with baseball. There's also a chance that Uribe gets out of the inning without giving up a run if they got that called strike 3 from the 1B umpire.
  10. Pathetic from the crew chief to try to follow Murphy into the dugout after the ejection. Don't like something Murphy said? File a report. Don't think he left the field timely? File a report. Good umps don't prolong delays or heighten conflict with a manager who's been ejected. Unprofessional and pathetic. I'm assuming the Phillies challenge will be overturned because it seems unlikely that they got any calls right after the umps got into their feelings.
  11. Some also act like every time the Brewers lose the Cubs are about to take the division lead. Just relax.
