  1. Was at work during the game today and just watched a (very) condensed version that was a long highlight reel. I don't want to make stupid grand pronouncements, but that Collins hit was massive. Decent chance they win without it given Megill's performance but Collins pushing it to 4-1 was a cleanser after 3 games of abject frustration. Really happy for them.
  2. I love it here. Unreasonable despair and unreasonable joy are both part of baseball fandom. People just need to let each other talk them down when they're desparing, but hey, enjoy the hell out of the wins. I've been to (and have now left) other Brewers fan sites with game threads and it's way more tolerable (and tolerant) here (although I've only been hanging out on game threads here for a couple of weeks now). I also very much appreciate the lack of groupthink that I see on other sites and the absence of complete intolerance for disagreement once a particular user expresses their opinion. That is rife on other sites.
  3. Because that's frequently how baseball works. The Cubs fans were asking themselves how they'd ever beat the Brewers like 48 hours ago. This is how it works.
  4. Cubs played well for the most part, but they got seriously lucky with the Brewers BABIP.. All night long. Ah well.
  5. yeah he's just not an every day guy. When they have to use him that way he gets exposed.
  6. I find it much easier to look at Craig Counsell's face when the Cubs are losing. #FTC
  7. Lot of at 'em balls. This is why the pronouncements of doom are just silly. It's just BABIP biting them in the ass. It happens to every player and every team sooner or later.
  8. The last 23 innings have sucked but sooner or later they're going to start getting hits with guys on base. Just gotta keep the faith long enough to see it happen.
  9. Just stop dude. Calm down. It's baseball. Really good teams lose 70 times a year or more.
  10. 3-1 isn't the end of the world. Could have been worst. Bats have to start pulling their weight again.
  11. Yep. And then after they only got 1 in the first some of the guys immediately started pressing in their at bats instead of doing what was working in the first inning and trying to see pitches.
  12. Swinging at a 1st pitch fastball at the top of the zone when Rea is struggling to throw strikes is a choice one can make. At least they got 1. Hopefully they keep up the pitch selection that was going on earlier that inning and put some pressure on Rea. Sooner or later they'll come up with a hit with RISP.
  13. Bigger issue is that Ortiz is almost certainly going to miss some time now. His at bats are frustrating but that's a blow defensively.
  14. It's the Cubs day today. They're getting calls (strike 1), bounces and they're playing well. That's ok. It's been the Brewers day for a month. They can have a day.
  15. Ortiz still doesn't look right on those jogs up the line. He's gonna come out at the half inning I bet.
  16. Yep. Just some puzzling pitch selection choices at various points. Ortiz just fouled off a ball that nearly hit him in the foot.
