  1. A mere 54 pitches later we're done. I was OK with the walk to Quentin. He's the one guy that can beat you. It was walking Forsyth to bring the tying run up that was the problem. Should have pulled Ax then.
  2. Just watching on gameday and listening but it looked like Bass got 3 or 4 strike calls that inning that were balls for Yo in the same spot or better. How does it look on TV? Seems more like Yo getting squeezed than Bass getting a break.
  3. The sports section in SD was pretty much given over this morning to how bad the Padres are. One writer says it's the worst Pads team ever and they had one that lost 110. They are starting a reliever tomorrow night and hoping he can get into the 3d. The Cubs lost 12 in a row and then swept them. So it would be nice to win the series.
  4. Leaves the Padres as the only team without a no-hitter.
  5. Time for Conrad to end his 0 fer too. I guess it will have to wait.
  6. Anybody know why Kennedy hit for DeJesus in the 8th? I think they'd rather have had Kennedy up there instead of Loney in the 9th and DeJesus had the double and the only run. Dodgers Mattingley'd
  7. Changed Braun's E to a hit. Then he steals 2d. Ueck: "They're loving it."
  8. I was there with a long-time Dodger fan who joined the boos during Braun's first AB so I gave him the key pro-Braun talking points from the 50 page thread (thx pe, xis and others) and flipped him around pretty quickly. He's Jewish so he has that incentive to be on Ryan's side. For the rest of the game he clapped for him, although it was pretty much the Orson Welles clap. He was shocked that mlb fired Das after he ruled against them for the 1st time out of 13. Not even a pretense of fairness. Only 2 other Brewer fans in sight to counteract the boos, which for the most part didn't seem to have much emotion behind them. I was surprised that with so many ex-pats in the area there weren't more of us showing the flag (there have been lots at Petco lately) but the 4 straight games probably dilutes it. Socal says the UW Club is coming Wednesday. A couple things to add to Socal's report: Loney drew a big walk in the 6th; after watching the pitch go by he took a step towards the dugout so apparently even he thought it was strike; Marcum did a great job getting out of the inning and then dominating the 7th. K-Rod looked pretty good in the 8th, jcredit to 2 good ABs by Abreu and JHJ although he did go to sleep on Abreu's lead. Ax got 2 big assists from Ransom. Dodger Stadium is nice and retro and all but they never give you any information. You have to wait a while for the out of town scores; when a new pitcher comes in they show a bunch of other stuff before telling you who he is, etc. Also, the wave in the 5th inning of 1-1 tie? Poor form. And since I'm being skeptical, I'm skeptical of the suitcase story too. So just 1 more win to win the season series. Bring em home Socal.
  9. Series losses to the Dbacks, Padres, Twins, Astros - a lot of bad teams. They are a ways from being good. On the highlight so far I'll go with either the 2 walkoffs over the Dodgers, especially Kottaras' double, or Axford getting the save in St. Louis after corners and none out followed by Braun's 3 HR game the next day. Both before they lost Gonzalez and Gamel.
  10. Morgan fail. Wolf fail. Roenicke fail. Green fail. Veras fail.
  11. OK Nyjer, time for a RBI. Anybody know what the record for position players is for most ABs in a row w no RBIs?
  12. SoCal just got your reply from Friday. Going tomorrow with a long time Dodger season ticket holder so I'm sure he's got a pass; thanks for the offer. My first game ever at Dodger Stadium was Memorial Day 2002 and a Sheets loss so I plan to be back in 2022. If you want to try to meet up I can send you my cell.
  13. I'm betting on LA too. I'll be there on Monday and am watching tonight so will try to judge. No reaction for Morgan.
  14. So triples in the 1st and 2d but no 3 bagger in the 3d? It truly is rock bottom.
  15. Thx AZ. I see Green was hit after Lucroy's slam. Wonder if that had anything to do with it or if the ump thought it did. Nervous with a 12 run lead and 2 outs? Now that's intense.
  16. Base hit for Harrison, 2 outs short for Verlander. Gameday scout's "still has plenty left in the tank" the curse again.
  17. And the easier force at 3d. Now the Cubs need a hit. And Parra breaks late so the Cubs are still up. Wow.
