  1. Looks like Eduardo Garcia did sign with the Brewers according to the FSB Academy twitter account: (Translated below) On this occasion we present the # class 2018 where as an organization we cleared the curtain and made official our 8 new professional players who worked intensely, some for three long years and two others to achieve the desired dream. They are; Eduardo Garcia (INF) @ Brewers Yohendrick Piñango (OF) @ Cubs Eduard Hidalgo (OF) @ parents Reiberth Gil (OF) @ phillies Luis Carrasco (RHP) @ athletics Andres Monzon (OF) @ astrosbaseball Rafael Castillo (INF) @ tigers and José Darío Chambuco (RHP) @ yankees # baseball # MLB
  2. If only foamboy would chime in.
  3. No Brinson in the lineup today. Not really a surprise. Just something to check off the checking list.
  4. I'm guessing this will be a swap with Phillips due to the lefties starting against the Brewers in the near future.
  5. Pretty interesting read by Jeff Sullivan on Anderson's uptick in velocity after his DL stay: http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/the-brewers-quiet-upside-play/ A trade that I find encouraging became all the more interesting to me. It'll be fun to see what the Brewers can do with him.
  6. Looks like the Brewers received catching depth as the PTBNL in the KROD deal. Tom ‏@Haudricourt 3m3 minutes ago To complete trade of Francisco Rodriguez to Detroit, #Brewers pick up C Manny Pina.
  7. This is what Jerry Crasnick just tweeted: Jerry Crasnick ‏@jcrasnick #Brewers are casting a wide net in 1B search: Pedro Alvarez, Ike Davis, Steve Pearce, Chris Carter, Daniel Nava among those on radar.
  8. Brewers managed to obtain him. Alex Speier ‏@alexspeier Red Sox traded Garin Cecchini to the Brewers for cash considerations 9:56 AM - 10 Dec 2015
  9. That's why I'd be focusing on this group of LHP already at the major league level: Roenis Elias (27), Mike Montgomery (26), Vidal Nuno (28), and James Paxton (27). Nothing earth shattering, but back end controllable guys who could balance out the Brewer rotation a bit and have some trade value down the road. Elias was one of the pieces sent to the Red Sox earlier today in part for Wade Miley. Hopefully there's a better match than Seattle for Lind. I'm not sure who that would be, though.
  10. I don't really have an opinion on this trade other than Villar is the guy that slide face first into Brandon Phillips' backside that one time. https://pbs.twimg.com/tweet_video/CUM3gMMWoAEc1ob.mp4 No problems with Stearns stockpiling players who can contribute. If anything, it makes me kind of excited to see comes over the next several weeks. It should be fun.
  11. Ouch. Jose de Jesus Ortiz ‏@OrtizKicks 15m15 minutes ago The #Astros gave Jonathan Villar every chance to succeed. He is very versatile, but his teammates will tell you he is a knucklehead. Jose de Jesus Ortiz ‏@OrtizKicks 18m18 minutes ago Don't know much about Cy Sneed, but I think we can all agree the #Astros won any trade by dumping Villar.
  12. Here's a more recent article about Murphy written last year. The tone is decidedly different, which is to say I think he's mellowed a bit since his college coaching days. This guy sounds like a better candidate. http://sports.yahoo.com/news/minor-league-manager-pat-murphy-may-have-the-right-stuff-for-the-bigs-214550332.html
  13. Below is an interesting BA article written in the late '90s about Murphy. I'm guessing he's mellowed out a bit since his college coaching days, but hopefully not too much. I think he'd compliment Counsell well on the bench. http://www.baseballamerica.com/college/black-hat-pat-arizona-states-pat-murphy-college-baseballs-notorious-coach/
  14. Well, Morrow looks to be off the table, per Ken Rosenthal via tweet: "Sources: Mariners have reached tentative agreement to trade Brandon Morrow to Blue Jays for B. League and prospect."
  15. I've always known her as Trenni... I'm 95% certain it's not short for anything... That's just her name. She was at least a year behind me in school, and it's not like we went roller skating on Friday nights together or anything. So while I'm pretty sure, I wouldn't be surprised if someone corrected me between now and the all-star break. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  16. I went to high school with her and we crossed paths a couple of times. She's down to earth, level headed and I'm 100% positive she'll do a better job than various other females (and guys) who have been broadcast team members in the recent past, regardless of what her role will be. I caught a fair amount of her doing Pittsburgh games last year (she had the Coshun hover 'round the stadium and report on various things role) and I think she'll be able to add substance to the broadcast for a couple of reasons. She's been a fan of the Brewers for years (so she'll be able to apply historical content) and has a solid amount of overall baseball knowledge. It also doesn't hurt that she's spent the last couple of years trying to dig up interesting things to talk about while around a horribly run franchise. If she was able to do that, I don't think she'll have too much of a problem here. I wish her the best of luck... I'm for anyone who can add to the broadcast rather than take things away from it.
  17. Strangely, tonight, I was a sausage! For whatever reason, the sausages showed up at a bar I was at tonight, and we were able to parade around the bar in those costumes. It's amazing how much females enjoy being grinded on when you have a big wiener on your head. http://static.yuku.com/v2//domainskins/bypass/img/smileys/happy.gif Tonight, I accomplished a lifetime goal when I didn't anticipate doing so. (Call me pathetic, if you will.) In many ways, it capped a perfect night. Should anyone ever get the opportunity, I highly encourage it. P.S. Baseball stars rocks my world. Nothing like the slaughter rule against the Lovely Ladies. Big bucks, no whammies.
  18. I, for one, am definitely afraid of Dessens. However, is it possible he could be the savior of the tired bullpen? If Vargas is able to go six tonight and Dessens can step in and eat a couple of innings, that would be a step in the right direction for him. He apparently looked good in AAA, but that's an entirely different world. Here's hoping he can pull it out. (Okay. I admit... I'm just posting this fluff because I want to see what it's like in the land of Yuku.)
  19. I enjoy the show quite a bit... In fact, right now I'm listening to a six part BBC radio show about FOTC and it's pretty hilarious as well. It's available for download at the BBC's site... So far it's worth it.
  20. Gilbert Gottfried might be worse. The host would then scream more than the contestant. Magic Johnson might be worse. But that's just because he'd stumble over his words and would probably be boring. TPIR is an interesting job. It's strange because I can't really imagine anyone other than Barker doing it. Kilborn isn't really doing anything as far as I know. He should get that job.
  21. (not to threadjack or anything) FOTC is hilarious... I thought last night's episode was the best yet. I've been watching the episodes multiple times, mostly because I miss so much the first time around. The supporting characters are just as funny as the band members themselves. The groupie and manager pretty much have me rolling. (getting back on thread) I've so far DVRed all of the episodes, but haven't watched them. I'll probably watch them all while working sometime before next season.
  22. Remember when folks were afraid of the Pirates early on this season? That seems silly now. I'm not saying they won't be better in the future... It seems like their rebuilding plan encounters a lot more setbacks than Milwaukee's plan did. A lot of their 'cornerstones' didn't work according to plan. Then again, I'm okay with this. While I don't like to see losing, I understand that somebody has to lose. They're in our division, and it's nice to see ownership taking their team out of the equation for the Brewers through their decision making.
  23. Well, that's enough for me to watch while I'm grilling out. Extra Innings is a good thing to have. EDIT: Certainly not a lot of folks in green. Looks like folks are happy.
  24. For those of you interested, here is today's starting lineup as given to us by Billy Hall: RF Corey "Yeehaw" Hart SS JJ "The Unbreakable" Hardy 3B Ryan "The Hurricane" Braun 1B Prince "Teddy Bear" Fielder CF WillIe Beamon C Johnny "I don't Speak Spanish" Estrada LF Kevin "Big Head" Mench 2B Rickie "Junk In The Trunk" Weeks P "Big" Ben Sheets
