  1. I completely understand that. I'm not sure how the whole process works or if it's computerized at all. However, if one year the Brewers are playing 9 games at Wrigley and 6 games at Miller Park, wouldn't it make sense that the schedule tilts the other way the next year? How hard is that, especially, as other pointed out, when the teams are 90 minutes from each other? Given that this is against a division rival (not to mention the fact that the Cubs coming to Miller is a big revenue generator for the Brewers), I would think this kind of give and take from year to year would be an important factor in determine the schedule. If I'm the Brewers I would be complaining loudly about this situation. 13 games at Miller and 18 at Wrigley over the course of two consecutive years?? That's ridiculous.
  2. If this was already mentioned at some point, I apologize. However, I was looking at the schedule today and it looks like the Brewers play the Cubs 7 games at home and 9 at Wrigley this year. I thought to myself, it must alternate every other year. So, I looked at last years schedule. Unless I missed something (and that could very well be) they played 6 games at Miller last year and 9 at Wrigley!?! In 2006, it was 7 and 7. So, assuming I counted the games correctly, what's the logic in this? I can understand with most games being 3 games that it's hard to always split the series evenly, but don't you think they would try to alternate back and forth from year to year??
  3. Oh, sorry, didn't realize this had already been brought up. Feel free to lock it up.

  5. I'll plead the 5th on this one....http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/ohwell.gif
  6. I saw Bud Selig at Gillies several years ago. Not that big of a deal though, since he eats there just about every day.
  7. Well, as much as we love our Brewers, outside of Milwaukee we are a team who, until last year, had not been over .500 forever (lost track of how many years it was) and last year, they just barely made it over. If I were to mention an anonymous team to you, and described that same scenario, I don't think it would be out of line for you to refer to the team as being "mediocre".
  8. I'm not familiar with who this guy is at all, but I could really relate to the Brad Ausmus discussion. I'm in a league (this is our 24th season) that does NL only and has 11 owners. Somehow, I always end up with Ausmus and everyone gives me crap about it. This year we decided to only go with 1 catcher on the roster, so I didn't get him this year. Of course, everyone is aware of Meatloaf's affinity with fantasy baseball. I think he's in 6 leagues or something crazy like that.
  9. I think St. Louis is going to have a long year as well.
  10. Phone, cell phone, and cable companies are all evil.
  11. After 30+ years of following baseball you would think I would know this, but can someone please explain the significance of the 40 man roster to me?
  12. So, what's the deal? I logged in here today expecting to see a 12 page thread about how the Brewers blew $10 mil on Gagne and rants abouts who should be the new closer. I guess I'll have to go to brewers.com. to get that kind of insight. You guys really disappoint me.
  13. Not sure if everyone is aware of it, but there is a free preview of MLB extra innings (not sure if the preview is just offer on Time Warner or not). I think they do this every year and I think it lasts for a week. Gives you more options of other games to watch during the Brewer's rain delay. Also, since all the games this week are day games, it will give you several games to watch at night. It start at around 880 on Time Warner. I usually end up subscribing to this every year...probably will do so again this year.
  14. Counsell has the best walk up song. I'm too old to relate to most of the Brewers' walk up songs. But give me some Hendrix any day.
  15. Don't people have vacation days? I take a vacation day on this day every year.
  16. I know they do this in golf (reschedule tee times because of forecasted rain). They did it just a couple of weeks ago in Miami. They moved all the t-times on a Saturday up several hours because of the threat of rain in the afternoon. I doubt they would ever do in in baseball.
  17. Well, the forecast looks like it has improved a little bit. I looked 3 or 4 hours ago at the "hour by hour" forecast on weather.com and it showed 90% chance of rain around game time. Now it shows 60% chance. There's hope!
  18. Any possibility of moving this to the MLB forum? I meant to post it there and I'm hoping that at least 1 or 2 people might have some ideas of good sites to check for this information. Thanks.
  19. If you are currently living in Milwaukee County, get a county card. It will pay for itself after a few rounds and it will definitly pay for itself at Brown Deer. Brown Deer is something like $35 with the County Card. That's definitly not overpriced (but, I agree, it's overpriced without the card). Oakwood is a nice course, long - not terribly challanging. The county courses have been hit by budget cuts and are not nearly in as good of conditions as they were 10 years ago. If it's a hot dry summer, some of the courses can be almost unplayable by the end of July, early August because they don't get enough water.
  20. Me too, and at the dumbest things. It's really embarassing.
  21. Pretty much all the county golf courses including Whitnall, Oakwood, Grant, Greenfield, Dretzka, Currie, & Brown Deer (not the par 3's) have men's clubs that have club events and also compete against each other in different events. If you contact any of the courses they can give you information on who to contact. Fees are generally about $100 for a one year membership. Here are some links to some of the sites: http://mcplawi.homestead.com/ http://www.browndeergolfclub.org/ http://curriepark.homestead.com/ http://whitnallmensclub.com/Home_Page.php
  22. Yeah, I would definitly have to agree. I think the Brewers are handing out Bobble heads too, aren't they? (leftovers from last year or something). Both games will also have to compete with the Badger game on TV. I'll be at a season end basketball celebration for my son....uggghhhh!
  23. I've been a member of Whitnall Park men's club for many years. However, I have never participated in any of there events because I usually golf on weekend with friends who don't have an interest in joining a local men's club. The only reason I join it every year is so I can compete in the County Tourney in August.
  24. Anyone know a good site that makes a good educated guess at what the opening day 25 man rosters will be for each team? Or, one that at least has it narrowd down to 26 or 27 for each team? Most of the rosters I look at on web sites are still showing the complete 40 man roster. The depth charts on most of the sites they still show 30 or more players. By this time, most teams have narrowed it down and may have 1 or 2 guys at the most that they still need to make a decision on. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. edit: By "good educated guess" I mean an up-to-date "good educated guess"
  25. I waited to respond to this post, because my immediate reply probably would have gotten me banned from brewerfan. What you described is exactly why I like golf. It discourages loud, obnoxious, beer swilling patrons (although, that element has been leaking into the crowds more and more lately at PGA events - case and point, the loser two weeks ago that cheered for Vijay Singh to hit it in the water on the 18th hole.). Golf tries to maintain some sense of tradition and class. I see absolutly nothing wrong with that, especially in today's society. If people are looking for a sport to attend where it's ok to be drunk, obnoxious, wear cut off jeans and act like a total classless slob, then I would suggest NASCAR or professional wrestling.
